Replying To ForeverBlue2:  "Why would the Glazers spend their own personal finances on transfers when Utd can generate millions every week…. They are not totally stupid.. Signing players who either are over the hill ( Zlatan, Ronaldo, Swinsteger…etc ) or totally overrated ( Maguire, Wan Bisaka , Sancho etc) and putting them on huge contracts is a major problem of their own creation…Utd signed Maguire, Sanchez , Fred and Ronaldo simply because City were showing interest in them but stalled because of the price or wage demands… this did not deter the mighty Utd who thought they were stealing a March on City… In Ronaldos case old whiskey nose Ferguson jumped in and persuaded Ronaldo to reject City and pocket a hand 500k a week and look how that's turned out…. They put a teenager (Greenwood) on 250k a week and he went wild… All madness and miss management… The Glazers can't be blamed for all this but whiskey nose has his fingers stuck in most of it…."
Are you 12 years old with whiskey nose remarks?

Stop believing every thing you read from click bait UK tabloid journalists. Anyone that has been following Man City since their oil rich owners arrived will know signings such as Sanchez, Ronaldo are not ones they make.

Glazers Can't be blame for that? Transfer business and contracts comes directly from the Glazers. Their business former banker men buddies are in charge of that leaving the manager with impossible task with such incompetence. Not stupid? in the terms of football matters they are totally clueless and aren't great business men either going by their antics in America over the years.

@bruffgael (Limerick) correct but the lack of research that chap did on Magnier and JP is remarkable

Who are Maguire, Wan Bissaka, Sancho completely overrated by? They didn't get their contracts on current form, or lack of it. Up to ten Hag to use his coaching abilities to improve these player's form.

Not a whole lot of improving to do with Maguire, two games into the season the new manager should know if his plan is to continue with a high line defence he shouldn't start with Maguire. Wan Bissaka seems frozen out, If Dalot is deemed first choice it highlights the lack of quality. Sancho the one that has potential to improve with the right coaching and system of play.

I don't think any other team in the premiership would take Maguire.

They were obviously totally overrated by Man Utd… one season with Palace and Utd shell out 50m… they gave 80m for a cart horse like Maguire and over 70m for an unproven youngster like Sancho… City even pocketed 10m out of that deal…. I think the Glazers were to generous with money towards transfers in these cases… bad recruitments by the club and bad advice in many cases by old whiskey nose.. I wonder who bought it for him…?

Ferguson doesn't sign players for Man Utd. The three of them were well rated when they were signed. Not many players have prospered there
that signed since Ferguson left so in that sense every player signed since then has been overrated.

Ferguson hasn't 'left'. He is still influential and involved in transfers and management appointments.

I meant since he was manager. He doesn't sign players. How 'influential' are he and Bryan Robson actually?

Yeah I've done a good bit, I've been abroad doing a good bit too. Build up to do some multi day hikes. The Appalachian trail is a great idea.

Old whiskey nose signed a good few duds too but covered it up with more buys…. When Chelsea and then City came into money he knew his time of buying success was over so he jumped ship leaving an ageing squad behind him…..

Rubbish. He was 71 when he retired. He's one of the greatest managers of all time and I'm not a Utd fan. Chelsea came in to money in 2,003. In the ten years he was in charge when Chelsea had money his teams still won more than Chelsea.

Rubbish and lack of research from him and continues with the childish remarks. I'm no United fan either but can give the credit where its due it seems that fellas childhood was affected by the successful Man United sides under Ferguson and probably left disappointed he retired on a high winning the league title with a few games to spare.

Have done a bit of hiking, though have been injured the past year or so. Nothing as challenging as the Appalachian Trail though!

Would highly recommend Western Austria if you like to combine it with holidays, some very challenging slopes, quite affordable and the scenery is fairly breathtaking. A lot of the mountain trails out there are ski slopes in winter time, so spring/summer is the off-season.

No the time to run was 2005 when it was clear Chelsea were going to buy titles. Fergie stayed around though, rebuilt his squad and within three years beat Chelsea to win the Champions League, and only for the best club side in decades would of won it back to back and again in 2011. As I mentioned in another post I think leaving should of meant leaving United so past mistakes weren't repeated but to question his success is wide off the mark, he is one of the greatest managers of all time, his success at Aberdeen is probably more testament to that than his success at United.

How was it that 'best club side in decades' Barca never won back to back? If that team couldn't win back to back, it's stretching credulity to suggest that Fergie's Utd sides shuda/wuda/cuda done CL back to back. The reality is that for all Utd's domestic success 1993-2013, their two CL successes were skin of the teeth jobs, and could arguably be described as flukes really, such was the almost comically skin of the teeth nature of both their final 'successes'.
