Replying To ballydalane:  "On a serious note, I think the heat forecast for Sunday will be a huge advantage for limerick for the following reasons:

- they're the fittest team in hurling, the closest to a full time professional outfit as we've ever seen in the sport. Hard enough to match on a "normal" day but in the blistering heat, a mammoth task.

- Kilkenny's best player TJ Reid is also their oldest, at 34. And while he keeps himself in great shape no doubt, 34 is still 34 and in the heat he'll feel it against lads 10 years younger than him.

- Kilkenny's game, particularly in defence, is about tight marking and constant pressure on the man in possession, usually in 2s and 3s. A difficult gamelan to maintain in extreme heat. Any drop of in intensity, and a couple of yards extra space for Limerick forwards will prove costly.

On a "normal" day, I'd give us a decent chance, but I can see us wilting in the last 10-15 and Limerick pulling away by about 6 or 7."
All good points you make. I'm just wondering if the heat could effect the tactics used by both sides; especially in the second half. Less running, try and make the ball do the work.
Anyway, here's to a great game. I'm not confident, but am hoping Cody has something up his sleeve.

I don't think either team "run" the ball that much Cockney, not as much as other teams like Cork, Clare, Wexford or Waterford for example. Both teams will use the run & handpass to get out of tight situations in defence but once the opportunity arises, I think both teams favour quick ball into space to their forwards.

Hoping for a good game. Our last 2 All Ireland finals v Tipp were disasters so I'd just like this one to go down to the wire at least!

Grandad in Only Fools and Horses was hoping for the same thing in the episode where Del Boy played poker with Boycie and Del Boy duly delivered. He had something up his sleeve and Cody could have the same with all his experience of Finals.

Looking forward to this one. Best of luck to both teams. The heat will add another dimension to this so it will be a hard earned AI whoever gets there.

What a shame there is no minor-final prior to today's main event. I always enjoyed watching it as part of the build up to the senior's game, plus it calmed the nerves a bit by taking your mind off the senior final (when Kilkenny were involved).

It's a 50/50 game. You have a great chance of winning though I agree Limerick are favorites. Good luck.

Just let it be a close match. Don't care who wins it.

Can't see anything other than a comprehensive Limerick win.

In saying that it'll be some achievement of the Cats can pull this one off.

The minor final was always part of the build up, bring it back.

Wrong again ulsterman.
The stand alone minor finals were was great occasions this year.
The players were centre stage in packed stadia as opposed to curtain raisers in a sparsely populated Croker.
Also the current system frees up seats for the senior final.

4 mins in and it's looking ominous for the Cats.

Enjoyable final up to ht. surely hegarty and deegan can't keep this up. Reid is doing all he can to carry Kk up front. I'd worry for Kk now though. Limerick are on form today. Reidy surely has to come on for mulcahy sooner rather than later. Sticking to my prediction of a double digit win for limerick

Maybe its the heat and Limericks lead but its all a bit flat. Some class shooting from both teams but very loose defending especially from KK. Maybe the fireworks will start in 2nd half but KKs forwards are been cleaned out.

Flat to describe that 1st half seriously?
