Galway and Roscommon are promoted and congrats to them, whilst Derry can rightly feel unlucky but can use that next season to kick on. Over the next couple of years I do think in time Derry will play in a higher league, on a consistent basis than Roscommon, but that is for another day.

I wouldn't judge beating Galway twice in a week as too significant, when they were already promoted. This is a serious Galway team who are improving and if you get them fully focused in the Connacht final which is possible I think we'll see the difference in quality."
I'm not sure how serious this Galway team is..folded v mayo last year abs have lost two home finals to Roscommon when heavy favourites..they still rely heavily on comer conroy and Walsh (three very good players) but the supporting cast is not stepping up and their defence is wide open when taken on..mulkerrins a serious loss through injury as molloy not a full back line player ..if mayo have full team out they'll take them handy ..

Haha yeah right. Derry have no D1 standard forwards so until they can find some they wont be anywhere near good enough for D1. The best team in D2 topped the division and won the final. Cry a little more you sore loser.

as some wise Rossie pointed out above it was 3 minute highlight I seen not the whole match..and thats true, the McGuigan incident was only seconds long so I seen that and he was in fine form from frees so he probably would have scored the last free...any other issue in game is that, a separate issue...Derry lost one game to Galway and drew with Roscommon...Roscommon beat an already promoted Galway last week and again yesterday...better to be promoted than relegated is a bit childish to be honest, we have a few more recent All Irelands in both codes than Roscommon, and I am not talking League titles Division 2 either..to see a Roscomon fan be it a gosoon leaning in waving a Roscommon flag at the Kerry captain getting the cup after beating Mayo answered looked rediculous yesterday...heavens forbid ye ever win 6 in a row like Dublin the rest of us will have to pack up and move away...you couldnt listen to such muck about football..as I say if there were All Ireland titles in the last 40 or 50 years it would be tolerable and understandable...the Newcastle United of Gaelic football...not commenting further, I am supporter of all gaelic games not tribal red misted supporters who think the world revolves around them and their county, NOT all to fair as many are genuine but some are rediculous..wishing Roscommon all the best in Connaught (for the propper GAA supporters of which there are many)

You are some man, Talking absolute horse ***** about Derry been hard done by and openly admit you are clueless on what happened in the game. Seconds before Rte showed that clip McGuigan was tussling with Stack two yards from Gough he recommended the yellow. McGuigan could have got a straight red for striking off the ball in the first half but neither you or Rte talk about that.
McGuigan was shocking from frees that day. Missed 3 within 30 yards in the first half.
Galway went all out yesterday were beaten. Dry your eye mate. Offaly will have a short summer.

In fairness Roscommon have no div 1 standard footballers either, as will be seen next year.

Replying To MachaireConnacht:  "Derry weren't good enough. No one mentions Cathal Heneghan was through on goal which would have finished the game, only for no advanatge to be given from the ref. So Derry were very lucky to be even in that game. Derry then had the advantage on an extra man and were not good enough to make that count and be well clear of Roscommon at the end. Roscommon scored 1-6 against Galway when in the same position last week. The table doesn't lie. Derry are up and coming but far too reliant on one man for scores and he would have been man marked out of it in Div 1 resulting in Derry's inevitable relegation. Derry will now have a very tough task on their hands to get out of Div 2 next year, against the Dubs, Kildare and a Meath team that were unlucky not to beat them despite having nothing to play for in the last game."
You can set your watch by Roscommon getting relegated next year too chief. Youse aren't able for the top table.

Great insights using examples and anlaysis of the league campaign so far. You should start a podcast to give yourself exposure and then it won't be long until Sky or RTE come knocking and maybe a newspaper column as well, as it'll be difficult to get your in depth and well thought out analysis across on just one media platform.

Thanks 'newbie'. You see I can go back further than a year to find examples and it is a repeating pattern with yourselves with a team that hasn't really changed much under a manager who has got youse relegated numerous times before. Stands to reason that it is relegation time again for you next year, sorry about that. If I start a podcast will you be able to be my co-host, or does all those accounts take up your time. They seem to.

You need to remain calm. I was most amused at you going at an Offaly poster considering the amazing pedigree their county has compared to yours. I can post where I like innit?

I suppose with 12 counties in Leinster, and probably the greatest team of all times one of them, yes we probably will have a short summer, we have to play a few more games to get to semi final and with our decline which happens all counties there are no guarantees..no New Yorks or Londons to get Leinster teams up and running..even Munster dont have that luxury of "a weekend away" as its known..hard to believe Galway were last Connaught team to win a senior All Ireland over 20 years ago, the lesser teams in Leinster and Munster have to face the All Ireland champions in early summer almost every year with the exception of Ulster from time to time. Mayo were fierce unlucky on a few occasions, after that its a bit like the rest of Leinster now since Meath and Offaly declined after winning national titles in last 25 years at senior level...so indeed it could be a long summer indeed for Offaly and the their equivalents in Connaught..its so much harder get to a provincial in Leinster, one good display is no guarantee of provincial final appearance, performances minimum are needed....so just putting it in perspective..Dublin/Kerry/Tyrone/Donegal/Armagh/Derry and Mayo and Galway will be All Ireland contenders..the rest of us will probably have a short enough summer after playing 3 games but such is the competition. They eye is well dry, we know our level along time but we had a good U20 win last year so things are looking a bit better...not really talking horse now really so dont personalize it please...best wishes to Roscommon in championship...no need to be bitter mate..Ime not I can assure ya..good luck and great to see ye get a good run.
