Won't be surprised to see Swanny on him at some stage. He'll test Clifford's skills and his discipline. Will ye bother putting out 14 other lads at all?

What's the latest with COC, Jason Doc and McLaughlin? Lockjaw (Donegal) - Posts: 9739 - 11/03/2022 12:34:28 2404912 Link 0 |
Cillian still rehabbing the achilles injury. Should be back in the next week or 2, but nobody seems to know for sure. Doherty has a hamstring injury I think. Eoghan McLaughlin was limping towards the end of the Dublin game and hasn't been seen since. Don't know what the issue is exactly.

Didn't McLoughlin play in the Sigerson Cup final, shortly after picking up the original ankle injury?

Yeah I think so, but he possibly aggravated something in the Dublin game then. Or maybe it's an unrelated injury.

Ahead of all of the games so far except the Dubs one I was thinking our chances were less than 50/50, but the tenacity of the players to stick with it and find enough to get over the line has been a welcome feature. I'm not sure Tralee will see a repeat. I don't think Aidan starting will be as beneficial as him coming off the bench after he's had a chance to assess the trend of play, but the selectors have been picking on a horses for courses basis and they must feel that Aidan's presence at midfield is needed. If Kerry build up a head of steam they'll be a lot harder to derail late than Donegal, Monaghan and Armagh and so some containment to reduce ball and space for their forwards is probably the thinking. I don't have too much faith in O'Hora as a marker for David Clifford... it seems to always take him about 20 mins to crank up fully and Clifford can run amok in 20 minutes. Mayo's other two full backs are wing backs (what's new) and so Kerry will likely try to keep them close to the Mayo goal rather than letting them out into space. But that will depend on whether the Kingdom gets a decent foothold at midfield. Overall I think Kerry at home and assuming they field another strong selection should win by 5 or 6 provided they get a reasonable share of ball. I don't see Mayo overturning the odds unless it's a fairly low scoring affair. Pericles (Mayo) - Posts: 2521 - 11/03/2022 18:44:46 2404980 Link 0 |

The loss of Sean O'Shea might swing things back by 3 points and the bad weather predicted could reduce the rate of scoring for both teams. Still I think I'll stick by a Kerry win mainly because of their new found meanness in not conceding goals and a goal or two for either team tonight will be decisive if point taking is limited by the weather. So far I think Kerry have conceded just 1 goal and scored 6 (goaled in every game), whereas Mayo have conceded 2 and scored 4, with the goals scored coming in 2 of the 4 games. So Kerry still, but maybe by 3 and not 6. Pericles (Mayo) - Posts: 2521 - 12/03/2022 11:12:53 2405019 Link 0 |

There is never a problem going on the Austin Stack Park pitch after a game, iv done it many a time, killarney is a different story as its fenced all round so un less they open the gates you wouldn't bother.
