Will these coaches ever learn ya put a goalkeeper in goals, the lad is not a keeper and doesn't seem to want to be, that display will probably will finish him

Replying To seanie08:  "There is but there's no guarantees any more than 2-3 of them will feature prominently at senior level in years to come and well be lucky to get that amount. If you look at the last monaghan u20 side to reach an ulster final while a lot of them have got runs in the senior team or being around the squad over the last few years and notably this year hardly any of them became regulars in the team. Sean Jones was the main man in that final for Monaghan he left the panel last year having never really making any impact in a number of years on it."
A lot of it from Under 20 on, is how much each lad wants it, and that is smnething none of us can tell. Went through programmes from past Monaghan Under 20/21 teams going back to 1980 and 4 seems to be a good number to bring through. Hooefully the talented lads will be the lads that want to go on to bigger things, but it is an amateur sport.

I believe Max Maguire, Mallen & Doherty are great prospects and will be ready for senior step up next season. i And hopefully Finn & Carolan will make an impact too in the near future. Remember that McCaul was eligible for under 20s this year but was nabbed by Bannigan for senior panel after his year long injury.

Disappointing result for the U20s alright. It feels like an (another) opportunity let slip by.

Still no Ryan McAnespie, Gary Mohan, or Ryan Wylie in the squad for tomorrow. I'd expect Lavelle to start if he's really fit.

Derry will present the same sort of challenge that Donegal did in last year's All Ireland quarter final. They'll expect to win and feel they can dominate Monaghan when the going gets tough. The question for Monaghan is have they learned from last year and can they take the next step.

With Dublin's apparent demise, for me Kerry are the only proven winners in the competition. Even Armagh, recent All Ireland champions, have trouble closing matches out.

So there are big chances this year for any team who puts their hand up.

Looks like midfield and fast attack are the key approach this year. Some powerful displays from Down and Roscommon last week. Weak midfield and ponderous attacks are going nowhere in this competition.

Monaghan made a good enough start against Cavan so they should be well set up for this game.

The Derry lineup named will be several orders of magnitude better than what Cavan produced a couple of weeks ago. Call me pessimistic but I just cannot see Monaghan competing with them across 5 to 12.
Plus Derry's inside forwards have big totals in them.

Keep hearing about the derry middle eight and how we just wont be able to compete there. Its a game we desperately could do with a fit Gary Mohan to throw his weight around in but he ain't fit and we gotta go with what we have. The one posituve am taking pre match is the fact we are being written off by everyone. Its got that feel I like coming up to a monaghan match. We are going in with a bit of a chip on the shoulder here derry are already in the final according to everyone. So zero pressure on the lads all on Derry.

Rogers, McEvoy, Doherty Glass and Cassidy with McKinless at 6 is very strong to be fair. There'll have to be changes on Monaghan starting lineup to counter.

Should we win and I believe we will it will be history making final and I stand to be corrected. 88 years since we played Armagh in a final and we, have never played Down in a final.

Has anyone with a season ticket been able to download their tickets for the match in Armagh? I bought them last week and still not been able to download them!
