Replying To Monaghan Exile:  "Maths lesson required!,,, you won the last 3 championship games v Monaghan. We last won in Breffni pk in 2017. As a matter of interest, since 1992. there seems to be a pattern of each team winning 3 in-a-row , in turns.
Perhaps it's our tutn now!"
Could be right, we'll have to see. We're locked in an eternal battle for supremacy. El Classico forever.

Any men standing out for the latter ends of the league into the championship?

Darragh Treanor from Tyholland showing very well. McElearney very positive too.

Inniskeen men Woods and Hanratty will be crucial to us this year and I hope Hanratty especially gets a prolonged run in the team after a stop start senior career so far.

4 points from first two games is absolutely crucial for survival.

I have been impressed by Ryan Duffy and Ronan Boyle at full back too could do a job. Maybe someone like Irwin/O Gorman could do a job at half forward to allow for Mc Anespie, Mallon Maguire to get into the fold.

Agree Armagh game is huge, win there and its a positive trajectory.

Players have all expressed they want to play u20 football this year and have opted out of senior selection

Players were told it was one or the other by u20 management

Proper order. They'll have the next 15 years of senior football. Bringing players through early in Monaghan hasn't worked the past 5-10 years.

Agreed, lost some of the most talented footballers we have cause of this, Aaron Mulligan, Sean Jones, etc

Unless they're truly exceptional like David Clifford was, or are guaranteed starters when they join the squad like beggan - players should be given the chance to grow at their own level.

Too many are rotting away on benches up and down the country at all levels. You can train all you want but the only way players ever improve and grow is hard and fast competitive games.

Thinking back to 2018 and the minor team who got to the all Ireland semi

We really should have got a good few of these lands properly phased into the senior team but Banty had no time for that

Monaghan:

1. Ryan Farrelly (Magheracloone)

2. Ronan Grimes (Killanny)
3. Jack Doogan (Magheracloone)
4. Shane Hanratty (Inniskeen)

5. Christopher Flood (Truagh)
6. Brendán Og O Dufaigh (Monaghan Harps)
7. Michael Meehan (Scotstown)

8. Jordan McGarrell (Corduff)
9. Andrew Moore (Carrickmacross)

10. Aaron Mulligan (Latton)
11. Sean Jones (Inniskeen)
12. Karl Gallagher (Emyvale)

13. Donnacha Swinburne (Carrickmacross)
14. Loughlinn Power (Monaghan Harps)
15. Jason Irwin (Oram).

100% agree with putting the younger lads from scotstown into u20s only this season at least until that season is finished then maybe one or two could go into senior set up. Only 3-4 players from that 2018 minor side will feature for seniors this year. We really need a better return from 23 team down the line and we should get it. Mulligan and Jones especially now just dont seem to have worked out in the senior set up. Our biggest need this season will be defence and cover for those positions. No Lavelle or Duffy are big misses especially in Div 1.

Is goalkeeping not a concern. Rory retires in the morning or god forbid, the leg suffers an injury, who's up?

Might get more willing whenever that day comes but for now I think there's very few willing to sit behind him which could be years knowing they are not going to get any minutes.

Conor Forde, easily the second best keeper in the county. Just doesn't fancy warming the bench all year round for beggan, and who can blame him!

Good spirited display tonight especially by a lot of the newer lads. Both teams were experimenting but a win and another competitive game before the league is welcome.
