Dingle didn't win comfortably against Finbarrs of Cork and Ballyboden two sides that Brigids are as good as if not better. O'Connor will play and I expect highly competitive final decided on the finest of margins. Hard luck to Scotstown after a memorable campaign. Ballyboden were probably the best side in the competition as you would expect with a open transfer policy but somehow got caught against dingle..they give a footballing masterclass in the 1st half and if they even took one of their 3 goals chances in the 1st half they probably would have won at a canter… All ifs and buts, proof will be in the pudden in 2 wks.. I just think dingle with the vast open spaces of croke park and their scoring power up front will win it… mick2007 (Monaghan) - Posts: 634 - 05/01/2026 09:50:57 2649832 Link 0 |

Rory is always going to be top class, even if he does look like he has wintered well.. The problem facing Monaghan is that the targets for his kickouts keep getting worse. At least with Scotstown he can put it on top of the Hughes brothers - doesn't have that luxury anymore with the county and I see this being a huge issue this year worse than last. If Rory can't go king then teams can press us short and we're in bother. Jjoniel79 (Monaghan) - Posts: 252 - 05/01/2026 10:35:22 2649844 Link 0 |

Is Croke Park pitch any bigger than Breffni?

Couldn't be prouder of our club after yesterday. Disappointing end to a magnificent year representing our county with distinction. ConyersHill04 (Monaghan) - Posts: 30 - 05/01/2026 12:52:36 2649869 Link 0 |

It could also be argued that the big pitch in Croke Park will also suit St. Brigid's as they have some very fast and fit players and they counter attack at pace as part of their gameplan. It will be interesting to see who they put on Paul Geaney and it probably will be B. Stack, R. Fallon, P. Frost or S. Trundle. This decision and it's knock-on consequences could decide the game. The big pitch should also allow B. Carroll to get more kickouts away than he achieved against Moycullen and Scotstown. Fair play to Brian Stack for continuing to play on after that terrible fall from a height on to very hard ground yesterday. Shows why he is captain and leader with the Rossies. Hopefully he will be OK for the final as I guess he will be very sore this morning. Fancy St Brigids myself but it should be a great game. ( Open & Sporting). Two great rural clubs and it will be a great achievement for whoever wins it. letsgetgoing (Roscommon) - Posts: 829 - 05/01/2026 13:20:14 2649877 Link 0 |

We needed all our players playing well and fit. We needed McCarthy fit and unfortunately he wasn't fully fit or Mallon or McElwaine. Be stronger next year with them all fit and McCaffrey also … hopeful they push again next year

We had men from the Parishes on here a few weeks ago talking about Ulster opponents dirtying their togs. Well by God we saw some amount of togs dirtied in Breffni on Sunday when the big boys showed up. First thing going into an All Ireland semi final, you need to have a level of fitness comparable to the opposition. Secondy you need to have a hunger and bravery for the 60+ minutes on the field. The Parishes had neither. You also need to be as mistake free as possible. At least 1-6 of the Bridgets scores came from unforced errors. Lastly scores are not got or games won by playing football around the middle third of the field. In essence the Parishes have been doing the same thing all year. It was just about good enough in Monaghan, got them through Ulster with a lot of luck but was never going to be enough when the big boys showed up to play. In reality it was a four point hammering on Sunday. ORIELMAN85 (Monaghan) - Posts: 905 - 06/01/2026 13:13:04 2650034 Link 0 |

Yes. Two best clubs in Ireland. It should be a cracker in Croke Park. Looking forward to it. Hopefully all will be ok with Brian Stack. That was the kind of bravery the Bridgets had in spades and the Scotstown boys were lacking. The Bridgets boys looked like a team that wanted to win an All Ureland and prepared to put their bodies on the line to do so. Hopefully they will be rewarded.
