New Jerseys

Replying To Seanfanbocht:  "Why do we have to ape soccer nonsense of new jerseys every 2 years?"
I'd prefer if the jerseys were a very simple old school design and rarely changed but I suppose county boards need to find ways of raising money including selling replica jerseys.
The soccer teams I think nowadays change ever year, I think (I'm open to correction) the intercounty teams change every 2 years.

The new Waterford top is the best of the new ones. O Neills are very basic.

I think the Cavan goalkeeper jersey looks class. Kingspan logo seems to add to the jersey?

Kildare one definitely the best of the lot.

Replying To GreenMan1987:  "In fairness it's fairly hard to come up with a different variation of Kildare Jersey when they have only one colour and are expected to change it every 2 years.
Even outside of Kildare for teams that have 2 colours in the jersey having to change them every 2 years is tough to come up with new designs, move too far away from the traditional jersey and people will complain, have them too similar and less will bother buy them."
That's a valid point. I would really like to be able to have the option to buy a county jersey without a sponsor, it would look so much nicer.

You can buy a retro county jersey no sponsor on it.

Anyone notice once O'Neills bring out a New Jersey you can almost predict that every new county jersey will be the exact same design but in different colours. Seen a picture from the 2000 hurling championship launch doing the rounds and every county had an unique design, had more character to it. The wexford home jersey seemed to be one of the few jerseys that broke the copy and paste model (I know it's up to be changed soon as well)

Its the same with most jersey producers. Just look at some years rugby world cup jerseys. Each company has a template and pretty much stick to those with only a few slight variations apart from the biggest sides(sides with biggest jersey sales) who have the flexibility to demand a more varied jersey

I mean current county jerseys. When you are ordering on oneills for €70 they should have an option for a sponsorless shirt.

What O'Neills County Jerseys are using the same template this year?

Carlow for one
Although if county board were looking for inspiration they should take a peek at CAF African Nations cup being fought out in Cameroon .
Every second team are Red / yellow and green
Some really cool combinations

Kilkenny's new jersey is still not available, 'coming soon' is the message on O'Neills website.
Are there any other counties still waiting to see their new jerseys?

I remember gaelic gear got fairly adventurous in 03-05 I think.

Most Jersey stay the some although we've had some nice changes between 2000 to present.

Except the sports savers logo. That was horrific

Kerrys new Jersey is supposed to be out next month, strange time to be bringing them out as they've missed the Christmas Market.

Yea - I think its banana's that new jerseys are not realised before Christmas. Maybe highlights the difference between business minded County Boards and non-business minded.
Over the last few years Counties like Limerick, Tipp footballers and Cork have realised special once off jerseys with an historic reference.. The reality is they were done for financial gain and they were successful..
Jerseys are a massive market. Kids love the gear

Gaelic Gear had a stint with Wexford and Galway around that time. Wexford one was funky enough. Connolly sports broke the O'Neills sports around the mid 90s and probably had as many counties as O'Neills at one stage. Lovely design jerseys. Think they're long gone. Azzuri had a few ones on the go for a while, think it's just Waterford now. Bodibro from Wexford aren't bad actually

Absolutely Ban, and the thing is I think we're paying some lad to the business end of Kerry gaa, if I was chairman of the county board I'd be asking him what's he at.
