Replying To BigSur:  "Of course these 2 teams meet again in the Leinster championship on May 1st.
Are we expecting James Dolan, Jamie Gonoud and Ger Egan back along with Ray Connellan ?
Those 3 or 4 will make a difference.
Looks to me as if McCartan needs to play midfield, probably with Connellan so Gonoud and Dolan needed in defence."
Were you at any Westmeath games this year?? What has Connellan brought to the team? He has been very poor in every game in the league.

I agree with McCartan been tried at midfield but he is doing very well where he is playing also. I'm surprised Fola hasn't got a run out in the league at all yet.

Connellan definitely better suited to half forward. McCartan could do a job at midfield but doing well where he is so why move him. Surely fola worth a shout at this stage ? Worth giving him some decent time before championship there. Personally think we are lacking a bit of size around the pitch compared to majority of other teams we are coming up against. Definitely played a factor in Louth game.

Agree 100%-u20s had a great win v Monaghan on wed.night and no info on starting team/squad or scorers etc-at least the young hurlers are getting some recognition

There's a lot of things that the county board should do or implement but the general reluctance to move with the times is feeding into the malaise that's affecting our county teams badly

Is it any surprise cooney hasn't named his team yet typical stuff. Every other county team out today was named yesterday or early today.

The County Board are basically the employers and should be laying down the law to county managements about when the teams should be named for competitive matches. It's not as if this weekend Limerick are compiling an up to date dossier on the selected team. Generate a bit of interest and maybe put pressure on management to change the team a bit more regularly.

Hats off to Jack and the lads tonight, brilliant win in Limerick and still in the hunt.
Listening to game on radio 3, great 2nd half performance restricting the home side to a point.
Luke scoring 1-3 and Heslin and McCartan amongst the scorers too.
Interested to hear from anyone that was there.
Gonoud back in defence has to be a plus.
Fermanagh up next who play Louth tomorrow. Antrim had a big win over Longford today.
All incredibly tight but great to be still in it.

great win for the footballers . its a simple scenario now 2 games at home v fermanagh away v antrim . win both and they are promoted . i think the fact that they have to win will focus their minds . they werent in the right frame of mind v longford . but they know now that to achieve their goal they can afford no more slip ups . great to see luke loughlin in good scoring form . great talent and this game could turn his season . well done to all

See what happens when you actually play with 6 lads in the forwards who can actually play football unlike when they play David lynch who hasn't a kick in him we actually play well enough against good teams and get the results !

I would see Lynch as an 'honest' player and maybe a lad to bring on in the closing stages to shut up shop so to speak.
How was our midfield v Limerick - was it Lynam and Duncan with Connellan at wing forward ?
Someone side Heslin spent alot of time out round the middle ?
Without doubt McCartan is a big plus in the forward line, hopefuly it will continue that way.

Connellan started to my surprise. I understand he was abroad all week. Another quiet game. Huge game against Fermanagh. Nothing guaranteed; but win that and we have a chance of going up with one very tough away game.

I'm surprised there's been no mention of our u20s. That was a very good string of performances to win that tournament.

So how are we shaping up for the crucial Fermanagh game tomorrow ?
No sign of a team yet.

Wouldn't read to much into a pre season competition against teams who wouldn't of obviously been the best teams in the country and some might of been a few men short nonetheless fair play to them for winning it . As great and all as it is winning it it won't matter at all if we don't do well In championship. Playing that tournament obviously better than challenge matches though

Not reading too much into league results but surely athlone just about getting a draw with ballymore on Thursday is a worry for them considering it's division 2 and ballymore will be struggling to stay in intermediate football this year !

Totally get that and not expecting them to beat "the best teams in the country" but beating the likes of Monaghan is a good result. They are where we would like to be as a county.

Another dummy team from Jack me thinks. Why does he bother. If that team starts I'll eat my Westmeath hat.
Anyway, looking forward to a decent game.
