Replying To Claretandblue:  "League finals are in June so that necessitates leagues starting in mid February. Nine league rounds plus lots of dual players at club level so five hurling rounds to be also accommodated. Weather has been exceptionally good since Dec with the exception of last weekend. Pitches are in good order so why not play games. The Chick's source has an in-depth knowledge of Loman's!!!"
Infairnwss to him I am the furthest thing that you'd get from a Lomans man but I have heard the same about them.
The weekend they played without heslin O'Toole fola the two mccartans jack geoghan Jason Daly and tj cox Shane Dempsey also didn't feature

As you can see from Westmeath213's post ,these things are common knowledge in circles where lads go to games and know whats happening on the ground, give it a go

Westmeath213 didn't go to the Loman's games so bit of a contradiction there Chick. You attend Loman's matches, some of us are Westmeath supporters and go to those games.

Good to see a few match reports in the local papers from the leagues, don't recall that previously.
Denis Glennon man of the match in Tyrellspass's win over Athlone !
Did he have an issue with previous manager ? Will we see the brother back too ?
I see a good few new names in for Tyrrellspass and The Downs.
The Downs seem to have promoted a good few of last year's junior team given they are missing a lot of county hurlers and footballers.

Two quick points I would not read to much into any results or match reports this time of the year, firstly pitches are very heavy and secondly some teams not really back training properly yet. Will need another 2/3 weeks to judge anything.
On a separate thing, is there anywhere to get up to date results, maybe league table after this weekend 3 rounds in.

Wake up call for a Westmeath team today getting totally carried away with themselves. Heslin & McCartan portrayed as main men last week. Both got the run around this week. McCartan especially, his man scored 4 from play, should have had a goal. It's great kicking a point going forward every now and then but you have to defend first. Heslin dominated once again by a big strong Longford full back. Longford just the better team by far everywhere on the pitch. Lynch another player I fail to see what he ever brings to a game. Sending off was his highlight. Not at the standard we think and that's promotion out the window. We'll have to see! But just such a poor performance from Westmeath. Totally demoralized leaving Cusack here. Shocking stuff.

Not much to be said after that. I'm dumbfounded how some of our players are deemed to be county standard. Mickey Quinn made a laugh of us. It's a pity we cannot clone Ronan Wallace. His commitment is second to none. All the rubbish talk about promotion was shut up today

And not only that but the fitness levels were very very poor. Shown up by fast and athletic Longford team! The big full back for Longford bet Heslin up a stick in a foot race for the ball at one stage. Started behind him and blazed past. We're not making enough subs either. TJ was good I'm fairness but give him more game time. It was all a shambles and Jack Cooney can't blame the referee this week.

Very poor performance "wouldn't have taken luke loughlin of at halftime he wasn't playing that bad the subs didn't do anything to justify it " young baker one for the future but think he should have been playing with the under 20s today not the seniors.

Very poor all over the park today-Ronan Wallace gave it all as usual -but Longford by far the fitter and moved the ball much quicker into scoring positions than Westmeath.Jason Daly made 2 wonderfull saves to keep the score within reach but our possession from our own kick outs around the middle was very poor

One of the most disappointing performances in years, honourable mention to Jason Daly who prevented a ten point defeat, Ronan Wallace was immense and Jack Smith and Sam McCartan deserve credit too. Poster above criticising McCartan who's arguably our best player over four league matches. Management have been free from criticism recently but they need to look at their input. The same 15-17 players always named to start, Robbie Forde for one minute today, the panellists surely won't stick with it when there's few changes and not winning. Three points with the breeze in 38 mins is very poor and there must have been thirty mins between the ninth and tenth points. Another defeat will certainly end promotion hopes and we won't be contenders in the Tailteann cup based on today.
