Fixtures are out. You can find them on Westmeath GAA website. In the Senior Championship Tyrrellspass , Rosemount, Killucan and Moate all have 2 day turnaround from Sunday to Tuesday. Some interesting venues for games. Ballymore, Caulry and Killucan are to host Senior Championship games. Temple56 (Westmeath) - Posts: 567 - 08/07/2022 11:57:36 2430457 Link 0 |
Ballymore, Caulry and Killucan are all top class venues for matches. Ample place to park, their pitches are in superb order, Westmeath are lucky to have a lot of venues capable of hosting big games, The Downs, Loman's, Milltown, Ballynacargy, Clonkill, Athlone, Tang, Kinnegad, Moate, Rochfortbridge. Busy schedule on the GAA front with adult championships, underage also. Claretandblue (Westmeath) - Posts: 2325 - 08/07/2022 13:12:08 2430485 Link 0 |
Ballymore killucan clonkill and tang should never be allowed host a senior championship game, all the other venues yes fair enough but those 4 pitches are horrible pitches

Ballymore is tight , but it's a very good pitch. Clonkill is an excellent pitch.

Nonsense 213. You obviously haven't been at any of those venues in years. All excellent pitches, great condition, wide pitches too. Ideal for senior. Claretandblue (Westmeath) - Posts: 2325 - 09/07/2022 13:43:08 2430655 Link 1 |
I want to be the 1st to say Well Done to David Lynch he was brilliant today keeping McKiernan quite for 70 mins. Temple56 (Westmeath) - Posts: 567 - 09/07/2022 22:00:41 2430922 Link 1 |
I hope westmeath people appreciate and give credit to Tom Cribbin for the part he played in yesterday's win. He set up structures and so forth during his era and its paying off now. howdareu (USA) - Posts: 220 - 10/07/2022 08:24:56 2430935 Link 0 |
great win yesterday . cavan had this competition won from the start and its great to prove people wrong . heroic performances all over the field captain kevin maguire led by example . jason daly got allmost all his kick outs away . sam duncan justified his selection alongside connellan . sam mcartin not as prominent as usual but a great 45 kicked over the bar unung hero david lynch put in a great shift . the emergence of kieran martin turned the game and his goal was sublime . but the fully merited man of the match was the man with the dancing feet ronan o toole . he was outstanding . well done to jack cooney and his management . great celebrations in mullingar and was glad to be there mickcunningham (Westmeath) - Posts: 1902 - 10/07/2022 11:33:11 2430991 Link 3 |
Would say McCartan was extremely prominent. Kicked two outstanding points from play in the second half , at a time when it looked like the game was going Cavan's way.

Congrats to Westmeath on a great victory. Commiserations to Cavan for a gallant display. You can't change history and Westmeath forever more have the great honour of being the first ever Tailteann cup winners

Great win yesterday, deserved win as well as we were better team bar 15 mins at start of second half. Maguire and O' Toole were superb with Smith, Lynch, Wallace and Loughlin also very good. Sam Duncan's work rate was phenomenal and he justified his late inclusion. Competition has been an excellent one and is definitely part of the GAA calendar now. Tang is a terrible pitch!

Crazy to have the first 2 rounds of championship so quickly after the final. Surely it would have made more sense to have the hurling on first? Having players playing Sunday/Tuesday is very tough on teams with smaller panels and injuries, should have had teams out Sat/Tues and Sun/Wed at a minimum. Garrycastle and Mullingar getting a Fri/Wed turnaround martyW (Westmeath) - Posts: 333 - 11/07/2022 09:54:10 2431262 Link 0 |

Garrycastle Manager walked last week so not ideal prep for them.

The people I taking to said they had co managers and one of them left last week but whoever the other manager is stayed on. He must be a Garrycastle man. They still should beat Shamrocks. Temple56 (Westmeath) - Posts: 567 - 11/07/2022 13:00:21 2431362 Link 0 |
The fixtures have been an absolute disaster! Four sets of fixtures have now been sent out with changes in time, venue, day, referee etc. Right or wrong, the clubs agreed to a planning report at the start of the year with Saturday/Sunday and Tuesday/Wednesday. Fixtures now changed to Thursday. Can the CCC just change the planning report at such short notice? Wmeath2 (Westmeath) - Posts: 191 - 11/07/2022 13:59:57 2431388 Link 0 |
