Unbelievable start to the championship. I was at 7 games this weekend and the football on display was breathtaking. When the two championship favourites Caulry and Coralstown are beaten on the opening weekend you know it's going to be a great year.

What happened to Kinnegad?

Big surprise in Moate with Tang beating Kinnegad 1-5,0-6. Tang kicked 1-2 in last 5 mins. Shamrocks beat Shandonagh 1-13,1-7. They led 1-9,0-1 at ht. Horrible wet evening for football.

Certainly wasn't breathtaking in Moate tonight, awful match, great win for Tang, managerial change few weeks ago certainly worked. Disaster for Kinnegad

How were Caulry favourites vs Tyrrellspass?

Brilliant result for Tang. This is where Kgad style of play has it shortcomings. 6 points in an hour of football is desparate. If you leave a team in the game that long you'll eventually get caught. Same as their game against Killucan last year

Kinnegad same failings in league final-zero impact in forward areas-it will cost them a championship.

Sensational win for Tang and what a turnaround theyve made under Denis Connerton. Tang never looked like winning the game until the goal, a high or hopeless ball in ended up in Kinnegad net. They didnt even look fit but full credit to them. Im not sure if Kinnegad are the same team as last year. Good win for the Bridge against Maryland in the first game too

Senior - Lomans will walk the championship will probably be the easiest championship win of them all. Only team to come close might be The Downs

Intermediate- No team put their hand up in week one to say they are favourites for the competition. Garrycastle still the team to beat but from all accounts they struggled against Miltownpass. Good win for Rosemount I feel they will have a big say this year. St Mary's just about getting over the line against Maryland a big surprise . Multy hammered Ballymore they will be looking at getting to a QF now.

Junior- St Joseph's look to be favourites and only team that might beat them are Lomans 2nd team. CFCW losing to St Paul's a massive shock after their good league.

Junior 2 - this competition looks to be a joke a the moment. With The Downs and Kilucan pulling out of the competition last week leaving 4 teams in one group and 2 teams in the other. Anyone know how they will run this championship now?

Interesting weekend in the various championships, big winners in senior in round 1 obviously Tang, The Downs, Tyrrellspass and Loman's with worrying displays by Malachy's, Kinnegad and Shandonagh. No side can afford two defeats in opening rounds so pressure on these teams next weekend. Milltown staged a fine comeback against Tubberclair and Rosemount looked in fine fettle versus Castledaly whose poor league form has continued into championship

Chopper. Fair Play. You should be called into the Podcast. At least you've been at games and can comment. Some of the recent panellist have seen nothing outside their own club games in years. Maybe not even that. It's a great idea; the Podcast, but listening to lads that don't go to games is a bit RTE Tailteann cup for me.

Can anyone answer why the county board fix matches for the day of the All Irelands?? I was in cusack park today and nearly all the crowd missed the first 10 minutes of the intermediate game because they were looking at extra time in the hurling on their phones? Why couldn't all these matches be played either on Friday or Saturday or early on Sunday. The same thing is happening next weekend, with the show case of the football calendar taking place at 3.30, and a round club of fixtures at 5.45 and 7.30. What planet are the fixtures committee on. If you follow either code, you want to be watching the all Ireland final, yet the lads over the fixtures in Westmeath couldn't care less either way.

Great win for tang last night, kinnegads frustration grew in the game not being able to create chances, which came from their lack of forward ability. Tang had a game plan and stuck to it, surprising to see them setup well tactically after a change in manager so recently. Think they might have set a blueprint on how to beat this kinnegad team that lacks creativity. Everyone knows Jack cooney has this kinnegad team well drilled and fit but it seemed they were afraid to maybe take some risks and lacked creativity.

County board seem fixated on double headers compared to other counties. Football championship starting in Offaly next weekend and most games on Friday night or Saturday. The two 5:45 games could easily have been played Friday night, 1 senior game and a few junior games were all that was fixed.

Ezpecially poor given its football both weekends and Rochfortbridge and Rosemount will have both fixtures on at 5:45 both Sundays which is even worse IMO.

Totally agree, the fixture making leaves alot to be desired. I see theyre bringing St Lomans out to Ballymore to play Tang next and no Senior A games in Cusack on Saturday evening when they might actually get a crowd to go to a double header as all Ireland final is Sunday.

I didnt see any blueprint from Tang really, they just dropped everyone and let Kinnegad have the ball until they made a mistake. The goal was Tangs only score from play.

Absolutely bang on. Understand it's difficult but no games should overlap with All Ireland finals. Thankfully won't be an issue after next weekend
