Any truth to the rumour that Tang management have departed the club. Not ideal preparation for senior championship.

Apparently Seamus Quinn stepped down, team don't look remotely fit, relegated in league, obviously have safety net of being in Section A in championship but that's a short term plan, presumably they'll target Tyrrellspass, Caulry and Athlone games, Section A arguably weakest in a long time, The Downs, Killucan and Moate would all fancy beating four teams in Section A.

Add shamrocks to that list they would fancy beating all them teams too. Section B will be a belter this year. The Downs will need to be at it for every game to get out of the group. Shandonagh and Malachys at full strength are serious outfits and will give Moate, Killucan and Shamrocks a run for their money

The Downs will walk the second group. The other spot is up for grabs big time. Killucan hardest to beat but really need a couple of forwards. Moate probably have the best group but threw the towel in at the end of last year. Can never rule out Shamrocks but can't see much coming from Shandonagh or Malachys but who knows, Tang somehow won this group last year.

Incorrect mick, will start either the 3rd or 4th weekend in July this year so plenty of time until then

Tyrrellspass going well Mick I hear, impressive wins in recent challenge matches, new manager has made a big impression in his first season, beat Kinnegad in round robin and ye will avoid Loman's in semi final, other sides in that group hardly trouble ye?

Nearly that time of year again, Starting the weekend of 20th/21st of July.

Mick you will get to watch your beloved Tyrrellspass disappoint you again when the going gets tough!

You may need to do a small tweak on your 'sacasm-o-meter'.
I think Mick was referring to the likelyhood of Westmeath being out of the all Ireland championship this weekend.

Five weeks to go now looking towards the club championship.
St Lomans 5/6
The Downs 9/2
Kinnegad 5/1
Tyrrellspass 8/1
Caulry 10/1
Athlone 16/1
Killucan 16/1
Shamrocks 20/1
Tang 20/1
Shandonagh 50/1
Malachys 50/1
Moate 66/1

Im sticking with Caulry to go one step more and make the final-33/1 at the start last year. Bookies taking notice of them this year. Only hearing good things about Flanagan and Quinn. The lads have never seen anyone like Quinn before and no meditation **** like last year before games. They up in division 1 for next year to.Is Senan going Stateside??
The Downs are too short at 9/2 for my liking , fancy one or two teams in the B to test them. Killucan will be targeting that game.
Shamrocks have dipped into the transfer market I see-two ex county players and future county midfielder Shane Ormsby will give them a boost.
Moate 66/1 outsiders, is there something we dont know about them. Id have them above Shandonagh and Malachys.

A lot of smart comments directed against mickcunningham/tpass by brave anonymous posters against one of the few genuine contributers who uses his real name.

This weekend is a great opportunity for Westmeath Football in the championship. Getting over the line for the upcoming game will not be easy. Some great football has been played this season; The Galway game showed the team learning and improving from previous issues. If this improvement follows on to the next games, this team has everything to play for and can put Westmeath football on a higher tier nationally.
Hopefully, the team can get the support it needs and deserves from here, in the media, and in the Terraces.

Best of luck to Dessie & Westmeath this weekend, would be terrific to get one more game out of the season. A draw would get us through, so who knows if we're still within touching distance in the last few minutes. Glass will be central to their performance, he's up against a very capable opponent in Ray Connellan who on his day is good enough for any team in the country. Not an ideal time for supporters to be travelling but I hope we get a decent crowd to cheer the boys on.

Hearing Denis Connerton the former Longford manager gone in with Tang. Lots of potential there and they proved that in the championship last year, deservedly topping Section B.
