Westmeath Football Managers 2022

Replying To Claretandblue:  "Hard to think that any team that struggled throughout last year's championship will suddenly be transformed into serial winners. Ray Sheridan will be some manager if he achieves this. Tyrrellspass may well emerge from this group but the exact same could be said about every team in that group. Tyrrellspass, Moate, Tang, Killucan, Athlone and Rosemount are all well matched and a similar scenario to last year could easily occur. Tyrrellspass will need Ger Egan fully fit."
Like last year I wouldn't back against any team in group two of the senior getting either a quarter final spot or relegated. Any of those teams are capable of beating each other. It will be a good competitive competition

Replying To BigSur:  "I would never rule a team out that has Egan, Harte, Gonoud, Quinn, Slevin etc but Section B is going to be some battle alright. I see Paschal Kelleghan and Ian Bradley are gone to Clonguish in Longford."
Bradley and Kelleghan apparently gone from Clinguish now after a meeting with players at the weekend. Not sure what went on.

So Liam McHale has departed Athlone.
Defeats to Maryland and Tyrellspass in div 2 of league so far so not a good start.
Like a lot of clubs, seem to be struggling to get lads back playing post covid and probably don't have the same strength in depth which must be a worry.
No idea what actually happened but I'm guessing McHale not impressed so walked.
Not sure what the plans of selectors Jordan and Murray are.

How's John Twaddle getting on over there? He's a few seasons with Moate I believe. Surprised no one from our county went in for him this year.

Results so far this year look good assuming he is still with Moate.
Joint top of div 2 having won 3 from 3.
Wins over Caulry, Rochfortbridge and Milltownpass.
Not sure if those results are with or without county panelist Robbie Forde.

Apparently Liam McHale has already joined forces with Frankie Dolan in his new job with Roscommon Gaels. Open to correction on the club but otherwise correct. Suggests he as much walked as was pushed. Difficult job the Athlone one. They haven't been a force at senior level in some time and injuries to key players like John Connellan and John Egan haven't helped. Some decent sides at underage level in recent years but they'll do well to emerge from section B of championship

He's managing Belmullet.

Championship draws last night. Round 1 fixtures drawn and no dates. No details of other rounds. All teams were numbered 1-6, surely not that hard to say for example in all groups, round 2 will be 1 V 3, 4 V 5, 2 V 6, etc?

Am sure fixtures will be revealed shortly. Round one announced. Round 2 will be late July. No great urgency
