I have heard that Jack Sheedy is not returning to Shamrocks. BigSur (Westmeath) - Posts: 1182 - 19/01/2022 15:02:32 2395617 Link 0 |
Time will tell. Ps. No one questioned Garrycastle being in the top 4 over the past 15 years. That's the past. My post was in relation to the future. They couldn't field at under 17 last year so that's worrying for a big town team.

Jack Sheedy definitely gone from Shamrocks. It is expected that a club member will be ratified shortly as new manager. Baldy1 (Westmeath) - Posts: 91 - 20/01/2022 11:30:26 2395713 Link 0 |
Westmeath Independent reported this week that Damien Reynolds is new Maryland manager. Other than that I haven't heard much about intermediate managers for this year

I read this week that the leagues are beginning at the end of February. Is it just me or is that very early for league to take place this year considering the split season? I'm not sure too many players will have the appetite to play league games so early this year either. borisdblade (Westmeath) - Posts: 55 - 20/01/2022 19:24:41 2395802 Link 0 |
McHale staying in Athlone. Temple56 (Westmeath) - Posts: 545 - 21/01/2022 11:19:15 2395839 Link 0 |
2 wins in 9. However, I think over the prior two years they had 2 wins in 11. They'll be favourites to come through group B. But I expect to see something similar to last year where that group is wide open, with all to play for in last round. jamsie (Westmeath) - Posts: 471 - 21/01/2022 12:22:24 2395856 Link 0 |

I wouldn't rule out any of the 6 teams. For a quarter final place , or for relegation.

One championship win last year coming in a dead rubber game . There team isn't getting any younger and have not much quality coming from underage They had there chances over the years and unfortunately for them took none of them. They may get out of group 2 this year depending on how ger Egan performs but won't beat any of the top 4/5 teams when it matters Westmeath213 (Westmeath) - Posts: 338 - 23/01/2022 21:13:39 2396131 Link 2 |
I would never rule a team out that has Egan, Harte, Gonoud, Quinn, Slevin etc but Section B is going to be some battle alright. I see Paschal Kelleghan and Ian Bradley are gone to Clonguish in Longford. BigSur (Westmeath) - Posts: 1182 - 24/01/2022 10:56:28 2396169 Link 0 |
Enda Monaghan taking the reins at Shamrocks. He was Ned Moores right hand man at the winning a famous championship against Lomans a few years ago. Baldy1 (Westmeath) - Posts: 91 - 25/01/2022 08:11:40 2396300 Link 0 |
Good appointment from Shamrocks. Don't know a whole lot about him myself, but he has a very good reputation. jamsie (Westmeath) - Posts: 471 - 25/01/2022 09:31:56 2396310 Link 0 |
Good reputation as a skills coach and was a selector with Ned Moore when they last won in 2018. BigSur (Westmeath) - Posts: 1182 - 25/01/2022 14:11:29 2396384 Link 0 |
Manager: Jack Cooney. Strength and conditioning coach: Ken Robinson. Unstated, but a former goalkeeper: Cathal Mullen. Davidjamson (Laois) - Posts: 4 - 29/01/2022 12:44:34 2396953 Link 0 |
Ken Robinson not involved this year. What is the relevance of this post to the one you're replying to?

Tyrllspass will beat any of those teams in section B if they have all there main players fit, all the talk about Athlone they have done absolutely nothing since they came up from intermediate there county players have well underachieved at club level when it boils down to the crunch garrycastle lomans the downs tyrllesspass beat them. Hard to think that any team that struggled throughout last year's championship will suddenly be transformed into serial winners. Ray Sheridan will be some manager if he achieves this. Tyrrellspass may well emerge from this group but the exact same could be said about every team in that group. Tyrrellspass, Moate, Tang, Killucan, Athlone and Rosemount are all well matched and a similar scenario to last year could easily occur. Tyrrellspass will need Ger Egan fully fit.
