The numbers are there with Southern Gaels they just need to improve the quality of player they are producing. They have a talented forward on the u15 development squad.

Excellent news last week with Marys winning the Leinster B schools 2nd year final 5-28 to 0-9 over Colaiste Eoin Dublin after comfortably beating Wexford CBS in semi final.

And the first years lost their leinster final by just a point after extra time to St Peters Wexford, very very unlucky. Good work going on in cbs, seems likes it's being driven by Micheal Lawlor.

Was the celtic challenge team beaten by Tyrone. I know Tyrone bet offaly which was a massive result for them in their hurling development, But what type of teams are they playing, is it westmeath b team or what. I think sligo bet westmeath already too. Is this a thing to worry about or is it not taken seriously.

That was a Westmeath u16 team minus about 7/8 of their best players. Wouldn't be a cause of concern, they physicality of playing against a minor team would make a big difference.

Would be the same with Offaly, their u16 team minus some of their better players.

Just seen that Conor Williams hit 2-14 vs Colaiste Eoin with 1-10 coming from play. That's some scoring, he's an exciting prospect and one of the top players on the u15 county panel.

Lawlor is a fantastic coach and has a real passion for the game. He's got excellent performances out of several CBS teams in recent years.

I know where you are coming from but I think we should not get carried away with any underage player as it often is long term counter productive.Lets focus on the team.
There is no doubt great work going on in Marys and congrats to all concerned. Now lets get the county schools team competing at senior level.

That's fair jobber, probably unwise to single out one player for praise. I'm sure he isn't short of it anyway!
If the county schools team bring their form to senior that would be fantastic.

Ya best not to put too much pressure on the young lad

He's from not far from us here and the family are salt of the earth they will keep his feet on the ground, a talented young lad

There is good talent coming through lads… We really need to buy into the S&C culture and harness the talent

Agree 100% we need a total change regarding physical preparation. We do produce skilful some very skilful players but we need a cultural change from everyone if we want to make that big break. The only reasons Offaly beat us in Tullamore were conditioning and Athleticism.

Pat Burke,Paddy Lynam,Sean Lancaster and Joe Rabbitte all starting.I think all have played senior for us at some stage.Adrian Moran the manager.Pat Burke won a Christy Ring.Rabbitte and Lynam on Westmeath under 21s that beat Kilkenny managed by Moran.Lancaster also played under 21.I remember Rabbitte and him on a team that was close to a Leinster final.Bit of a Deravaragh Gaels look about it

Thoughts on Offalys 20s win??, Dublin beat us by 17?, and Offaly beat them and Kilkenny. Not the biggest team but they work like dogs in fairness.

Small team but work hard for one another and have great spirit and skill.
A strong group that were showing well at u14/u15 and they kept them together and they've been excellent and injected some pride back into Offaly who have a great tradition for a small county. Fair play to them.
We have two promising groups at u14 and u15, if we put the work in with them we can be competive in the Leinster minor championship in 2026/2027 in my opinion.
We should take a leave out of Offalys book, they've a lesser population than us and have produced an all Ireland winning football team and now hurling team at u20.
It's a mentality thing as much as anything, Offaly players and supporters were desperate for success and came out in their thousands to support. There's no reason we can't aspire to do similar, the centre of excellence will be a big help when it is built in Robinstown but the mentality has to shift also.
Well done to Offaly, super win for them.

They work like dogs but my god some of them can make a ball talk too, unbelievable stick men.

Screeney wasn't in their top 5 performers during play yesterday and they still won.

He was still decent from play

That's a generational Offaly team built on an incredible group Kilcormac have and another smaller group Ballinamere Durrow have

Talks of Offaly getting it so right at underage are over egged… They have been bang average at minor last few years since that group

Doesn't excuse the fact that we have a lot of work to do ourselves…
