Some win by Summerhill. Was hugely impressed by then. Much the better team 1st half and then when their backs was against the wall they still pull out the win with outstanding goal. First Sligo school in the Hogan cup final for 37 years a believe and real good chance of winning it.

Watching Omagh in action in this second semi final (currenly 4-11 to 0-1) i take back on what i said about a real good chance of winning the final but still great for Summerhill to reach the final.

Great win for Summerhill, congrats to all involved. Mark Breheny stock continues to rise as a manager and Bree as a coach.

The first half especially was impressive as they regained control after the early goal and dominated. Second half the cheap turnovers brought them into it but Summerhill finished strong after the great individual goal by Niland. Awesome resilience and mental strength.

Great feeling to see a Sligo team in the A final but no good just getting there. If we can keep up the 1st half performance for the full 60mins we can do it. Omagh look very good and have the potential to hammer a team but weren't put under pressure today. They remind me of Claregalway so if Summerhill stay with them I could see them getting nervous.

Unfortunately I am not sure how St Attractas didn't win when we had big leads but then showed unreal character to get both to ET and pens. Strange game and tough on those lads. I feel for McGee and all the players.

Either way a huge amount of belief should transfer into the u20 and minor set ups this year.

Great start to the weekend. Sligo seniors need to win in London after Wicklow toppling Laois and Wexford gaining momentum.

Wicklow winning against Laois has really blown Div 4 wide open. It doesn't really matter to us as we had to win all our games anyway. Good win today. It was always a potential banana skin. Leitrim have now to go and play a resurgent Wicklow down in Aughrim. They had probably figured that Wicklow would have lost to Laois and therefore be out of the running so that will be a hum finger of a game. We have Wexford at home and I would not dream of looking past that game. I can't see Laois dropping any more points so I think they will get promoted. Wexford, Wicklow , Leitrim and ourselves are left to battle it out. It's going to be tight

As I predicted here, Laois dropped points. They are very average and we made them look good. We had a seriously bad off day against them. Huge game up next for us and then take it from there. Potentially a seriously positive few years ahead for us if affairs are managed properly. The U17-20 batch will make their way into the team and how that transition is managed will be absolutely crucial. We could be a Div 2 team within 3 years if done properly. I'm quietly confident that we will get promoted this year. Massive well done to Summerhill. Some top players coming through so kudos to all involved across the board

Whoa.. Let's get out of Div 4 before you get aspirations for Div 2. We are tipping away nicely .
Let's beat Wexford next. Great result for Summerhill. Difficult pill for Attractas to take after having such a huge lead. At least that will allow a few lads back to the Co set-up next weekend. Minors were well beaten

Attractas were ahead for all bar 5 of the 80 minutes. Conceded late goals in normal time and didn't learn the lesson and concede goal again at the end of extra time. Were the beyter team but didnt take their chances in last 20 lminues to kill the Abbey revival. Agonising way to lose a game.

Tomorrow's game is a must win and if we are unable to beat Wexford on our own patch, then we deserve to stay in Div 4. On another matter it's very worrying to see a PRO award coming to the county when to the ordinary Joe soap it's impossible to find any information about GAA matters within the county at the moment

Good win. Wexford never an easy task a very sticky team. Need to keep the eye on promotion now. Next two games will show what this team is really made of. Sligeach Abú

Mixed feelings after attending the match earlier. Wexford were atrocious, maybe even worse than Waterford. I was really surprised with how poor they were.

It was brilliant to get the win but similar to when we played Waterford we just switched off after building up a strong lead. It was worse this time as Wexford were down to 14. We completely stopped playing and let them back into the came, gave away a couple of soft goals and in the end only won by 6 points having completely dominated the game. Score difference could be important and a couple of times now we've just switched off rather than kicking on and putting up even better scores.

I think we should beat Carlow which will set up a nice derby with Leitrim who might still be in with a shout for promotion.

A solid performance today. Should have won by 12+ points which was the main concern in that we let them make the scoreboard look respectable. Carrabine is such a fantastic player. Integral to everything good about Sligo is his workrate and general play. Evan Lyons is another gem. Towey is having a fine season too. Cummins is a big loss physically and we still are a little light in the middle third. Otherwise a lot of positives and it's all in our own hands now.

Getting out of Div 4 is like climbing Croagh Patrick. The real steep bit is at the top. We are doing well. Granted we are conceding silly goals and at the other end we have huge difficulty in hitting the onion sack. Pat Spillane's goal yesterday was going wide when it got a deflection. With the way the division is panning out we need to win both games.
Lavin has acquitted himself well but we need the power of Cummins added to the mix. Very strange that Lally wasn't replaced after picking up an injury. Sending him in to corner forward hobbling made no sense. From the reports that I heard the U.20 team threw away the game against Derry. There was nothing at stake bar pride . Making 9 substitutions in the second half totally disrupted the rhythm as they were leading and in control up to that. As I said before bringing on the Attractas lads into the team isn't as seamless as people think. Summerhill boys have also to return. It will be a race against time to have everyone facing the one way come April and they head to the Hyde

Best of luck to Summerhill, would be great to see an All Ireland in Sligo!

On another note, what's going on with the hurlers? I have been an eager but silent follower in recent years and have loved seeing the clear success. Is the latest results just a blip or what is the reason for the sudden drop off?

Hurlers seem to be missing a few from last years team including 2 O Kelly Lynchs and Finian Cawley. Gerard probably would have been main scoring threat for the team up to this.

What a shambles to put the game against Carlow on at the same time as the rugby on Saturday, as if the crowd wouldn't have been small enough without it. Hopefully still a good crowd travel as important game for the team. We need to get out of division 4.

Best of luck to Summerhill also.

A lot has been said about one or two players that won't commit to the footballers because of a perceived dislike of Mgt so it's great that the same Mgt have been able to get back a few players from the hurlers and Lally from basketball . In my opinion Lally has been the stand out player in the league so far. Dual county players sadly don't exist anymore. Great to see Summerhill in the final. It's a big ask, to beat the team from Tyrone and Summerhill are underdogs but they have proved they are a serious team so hopefully they can pull it off.

Just to clarify the Carlow Co.Board asked Silgo to change either the time or date but Silgo refused. Coke Park would be willing to compromise but both counties have to agree to change. Makes no sense to me. Couldn't they have played it at 3pm & the Silgo players & supporters could have watched the Ireland game before heading back West as I'm sure they will be having food somewhere in Carlow anyway. Will be very small crowd at game now
