Replying To Sligonian:  "Its a fair point but the given the Connacht club dates I can understand. The Connacht senior semi final against the Mayo champions is not until Nov 16/17. That is ages away and I'd like there not be too much of gap for whoever wins it. The intermediate and junior champions are in action the week before in Connacht."
All the more reason why this split season is of no use to the majority of counties because provincials are still too late. We delay our championship and drag it out unnecessarily. Ballygunner won the Waterford hurling championship on 1st September and don't play their Munster game until 3rd November are just one example I can think of and I'm sure they're not alone in getting on with things. Maybe it doesn't need to be 2 months of a gap but could be a lot better for those clubs who won't be crowned champions.

The Intermediate Connacht championship is played off over three weekends in a row beginning on Nov 9th/10th. If there's a replay required in our final then a club could potentially play 5 weeks in a row. I'd sooner have a three week cushion minimum between county final and Connacht game as the first week there'll not be much training done anyway unless it's on curing hangovers.

The whole thing could have been tightened up and I don't think too many players would complain.

I agree fully. I think players prefer playing week on week. Too many breaks during August. All county championships should be over in early October with provincials starting mid October.

County semi finals were this week two years ago…I think they may have run off the hurling earlier previously??

I think the whole master calendar is slightly flawed..It's not bad on the face of it but it's a very drawn out championship. Too many break weekends. Connacht club fixtures probably dictate the end of a championship however I don't think too many are happy with it's dragged out nature…

In general the players are also happy which is the most important thing. There will always be a tiny minority of people that can't be pleased. Every county has them. They work off an agenda."
Of course players are happy, they are on the panel and he has not changed much. What makes you believe the people who don't favor him are a tiny minority? Elaborate on the agenda?

Your posts, opinion and style of writing are very similar to another poster on this forum... So similar that it would warrant suspicion. ))

Why don't people just use their real names on here? A lot of expert opinions on here, calling players, managers, clubs and county board out. If you really believe in what you are posting put your name to it.

There must be hundreds of people posting on the Hogan Stand. I don't know anyone who uses their own name bar yourself and in fairness you haven't been on here much. The last few months has been very tame on the Sligo forum unlike other counties who can be quite nasty and name calling of players referee's etc etc. The biggest gripe that most people have on this page is the CCCC. They are not elected but are chosen. You saw previous posts about the timing and venues of games. It's bonkers. I believe if Mary's v Drumcliffe which is due to be played on Sunday in Keash was played at a venue closer to both teams there would be a much greater attendance. Fifty extra people would generate 500 euro. Will the live streaming of the game leave 500 profit ?. We are not promoting our game so we are not achieving the revenue that we should. Yet each club is required to sell a minimum of club Sligo tickets every year ( for poor prizes) on top of the county board levy. County board meetings are so rare that the club's rep cannot bring it up at a meeting.

Wouldn't the smart thing to have done is have one group starting at say 1pm and another at 3/3.30 so at least you could maybe get to two senior games and bring in more money??! I'd love to see the after cost profit if any of the streams of some games. Clubber had an article in one of the national papers they said they need 70 buyers I think it was for them to make money. I know the Sligo stream is much better quality but that would mean they'd need more than that to make it work.

I'm sure the winners of Mary's and DRP would be interested in popping into Ballymote or Collooney afterwards to see those games if the timing was done right.

On Facebook page they can't even get the fixtures correct.
Ballymote v Eastern Harp's
Cloonacool v Drumcliffe
Those games are fixed for tomorrow evening, but they have already taken place.
The CCCC deserve every bit of criticism they get and probably more

A small bit of positive news. It's great to see all the money that was announced during the week for all sports and community clubs. Along with the money from J.P earlier in the year there has been a substantial cash injection into Gaa clubs in the county . Hopefully clubs use it all wisely. I would hate if some of the fundraising that goes on, which is normally used for club facilities goes in another direction and is used for management expenses.

We really are terrible at promoting our club games. Final round of group stages with so much at stake and looking at social media of Sligo GAA and all the clubs and there is barely any posts up promoting them. I see only 1 post advertising the stream of the game. Sligo GAA will have another review at the end of the year and ask why gate receipts are down and streams aren't generating enough revenue
