Could be tricky game for hurlers against Kerry tomorrow. It'll be a step up from the meath game but hopefully if they keep up their intensity they'll get over the line and keep momentum. Footballers could be in for a tough time, here's hoping they put up a decent showing and do themselves justice. Best of luck to both teams.

I think the hurlers will win tomorrow. The missed penalty & the sending off before half time cost them in league game v Kerry. Keep 15 on the field tomorrow & I'd be confident of a win. The footballers are up against it though. Going on league form there will be only one winner & if things really click for Louth it could get messy. Its mad how quick things change as in 2018 I was full sure we would beat them & we did so by 11 points. It could be 11 points again this time but for them unfortunately. However I will always travel in hope & remember 2011 very well when we were given no chance against louth the year after they were robbed of Leinster Championship by Meath & we turned them over. Never been to Navan for a Carlow Championship game so looking forward to it, Ceatharlach Abu.

Podge Boyle and Shane Conway for Kerry were the difference between the two sides today.

Carlow didn't have any defender able for Boyle especially.

It still looks very much like an Offaly and Antrim final with Meath more than likely to get relegated.

Think there was more than those two between the teams Carlow not at the races today.

I could only go by Buff Egan's Snapchat, Boyle seemed to destroy the Carlow defence.

Maybe someone at the match will have a better overall analysis.

From start to finish Kerry we're first to every ball. Our touch was way off with fumbles and poor passing. Carlow played with the strong wind in the first half but we kept sending aimless balls cross field over the sideline on the stand side.
Marty and Chris were placed in the full forward line with Marty double teamed every time he was near the ball. Kerry played their short passing game through the lines and played Mikey Boyle as sweeper. He cleaned up ball the whole match.
Kerry went 5 points up against the wind until we started playing about 7-8 minutes from the end of the half. We had a shout for a penalty but the ref brought play back for an earlier foul.
Our tackling was awful and our discipline really poor. Twice Kerry had frees brought up for mouthing making a tough free against the wind an easier one.
The free count was very one sided for Kerry. Part of this was that they had much more possession than us but the ref gave us very little.
Half time saw Kerry up by a point but with wind advantage to come they were heavy favourites.
Carlow's best spell was the ten minutes after half time when we finally got some possession and put a few moves together. There was still only a point in it at this stage.
Kerry then struck for a goal through Padraig Boyle who caught a puck out and strolled through our defence. Kerry tapped on a few points and suddenly there was 6 points between the teams.
Carlow then pressed the self destruct button a number of times with short puck outs dropped and sidelines giving a was possession. For some reason our full back line was out on the half back line and Kerry could have more than the three goals.
We had two good goal chances which the Kerry keeper made good saves from but we were living on scraps.
John Michael did very well in the second half and was our only outlet in the forward line. We continued to play long balls into Kerry sweeper Mikey Boyle for the rest of the time.
Can't remember Carlow playing so badly but fair play to Kerry who were streets ahead of us in commitment and tackling.

Very disappointing after last weeks win.
Next up Antrim away.

Less than four years ago, Carlow beat Louth by 2-17 to 0-12 (11 points) in a Leinster SFC First Round tie... Today, Louth beat us by 5-10 to 0-10 (15 points)... A 26 point turn around in just a few seasons... Congratulations to the members of our County Board who chose Niall Carew over Stephen Poacher to manage the team... You have reaped what you sowed.

Pretty much sums it up. For as good as Kerry were, Carlow were straight up awful. Carlow looked like a Christy Ring calibre team on Saturday, which is where they could and probably will end up if not this year, then next.

There was no facet Carlow got the better of Kerry. Ball control was so poor, hard to believe how many dropped balls when not under any pressure. Passing was so sloppy at times also, just too many wayward passes for this level. In all honesty, it looked as if it was Carlow were playing a preseason game in January

Up against it now, looking like a relegation playoff with Meath. Consistency all over the place.

Couldn't agree more. I'm afraid it's what you get when you get administrators to vote on behalf of footballers. It's a pity that particular era of Carlow football, when we were competitive and giving teams at the highest levels a good run for their money are gone.

Dont think there is a relegation playoff this year so we should stay above Meath.

Not sure we can be as bad again and Id fancy us to Beat Down.

That 2018 era didn't do it for me either to be honest we won nothing playing boring football, it's a pity the 1944 era is gone, a true football side.

I knew Kerry would be a tricky game but was very surprised with that carlow performance or lack of. It's a bit of a transitional year so hopefully they can improve but have been so hot and cold this year. Would of liked to have seen james doyle back and maybe young Whelan from ballinkillen if hes fit again but that's not to be this year.

Concerning times for both codes, there doesn't appear to be much talent coming through either. Minor and under 20 in both codes very weak, I don't see much improvement coming in the medium to long term.

There is no doubt that Louth were by far the better team.
But hankering back a bygone era where the quality of fare offered by the previous management team was beyond boring and proved ineffective is of little use.
It's been shown time and again that that particular style wasn't effective. There is no team in the country playing that style of football now... and as far as the individual you named... did any county go looking for him since ?
That style kept the score down. One result... against the poorest prepared and poorly led Kildare team ever, just does not do it for me.
The current manager has inherited a team where a huge number of experienced and committed players just reached the stage where they could do no more for the county.
That is the reality.
Time for patience and rebuilding as best we can.

Both opinions are a bit overstated, however they are your entitled opinions.

A feasible rescue program required for the county, one that includes the appointments of team managers / coaches etc. Self-explanatory.
Final answer.

"Appointment of team managers"? A very vague comment and the opposite of self explanatory lol, to be fair I can't fault your consistency in providing aimless loud noise...

Well we beat Louth under Poacher and didn't concede 5 goals.
We got promoted from Division 4 and didn't get finish 7 out of 8.
We beat Antrim in Antrim , Limerick in Limerick and look where they are now.
We competed with Monaghan under Poacher and I'd be terrified to play them now.
The most successful era we had since the 40s.

...played in Croke Oark v Laois with the most negative set up of any Carlow team ever.
We were there, and there was not even one move on the entire 70 plus minutes where anyone from Carlow shouted encouragement or thought about standing up... and we had 70 min to get to a Leinster final!!!!
If champonship is what its about, we had a realistic chance of beating our neighbours and it was pitiful and I don't blame the players, I blame the management for the set up of the team.
The only thraet was Morrissey at half back an Laois fouled each time he passed the midfield.
An absolute replicate of an earlier league game in O Moore Park....
Do you remember that game...another absolute dire set up again of the team and again Laois read us like a book and they had absolutely no bother in beating us. The same as Croke Park a little later on... shocking performances from the management team... when was the last time a Carlow team with chances of getting to a Leinater final performed so abysmally ? Absolutely no effort at attacking and scoring...and maybe winning the match!
The easiest Laois ever had it against us.
And don't get me started on the discipline of management and the shocking example that was... and as I said, what county has taken the northern gentleman since?
He is not wanted.

You are some joker.

Do you realise that Carlow hasn't beaten Leix since 1988?

36 years?

In league or championship.

Some of the defeats have been very heavy.

We lost by four points that day.
