After listening to DL Debate and Donegal sport hub you really wonder what the pundits and supporters expect when you really think of it? Are lads who have done 10months training including maybe over 100 gym sessions etc... go out and play open football that we all want to see because we want to see it or are they going out to play a system that gives them the best chance of winning and reaching qtr/semi/finals?"
Therein lies the issue, if they spent less time in the gym and more in the field kicking the ball we might have better more interesting spectacles.

As a man once said to me "You can't kick a kettle bell over the bar".

This would be a valid point if we were still in the 70's

People often say the quality in the 70s wasn't good. Is it any better nowadays? Players might be fitter and a lot better conditioned but 2 yard handpasses to a teammate is hardly riveting fare.

Fair enough there was plenty of stray kick passes in the 70s but at least there was a kick pass. They're like hens teeth nowadays. And it's turning people away from attending games.

players up until the late 90s couldnt kick the ball off the ground for the most part
I mean just watch the 1992 games, some terrible kicking, especially the semi against Mayo
Manus was the only good striker of the ball in that team
I would say the quality is by far better now, and I dont get the obsession with kick passes.
The game is not as bad as people make out
