The 4-5 best players on the field weren't part of the county squad last year.
Niall O Donnel, Ciaran Moore, Conor Morrison and
Ethan O Donnell. Add in Shane O Donnel who was sitting on the bench.
Naomh Conall left that game behind them.

The home stewards were getting involved as st eunans bench had about 10-12 selectors at least and subs constantly up on the sideline shouting abuse and trying to intimidate the ref, opposition players and so on.
Even the referee had to go over twice to tell them to sit down.
Another club over that way used to be at the same and got away with it for years, and it worked for them.
If you continue to let that happen then it causes arguments and fighting, and Donegal gaa need to step in before it's to late and stop this.
Only the manager and one of his advisers should be standing, the rest need to take a seat.
As for the game itself, Eunans were up for it and rattled Naomi conail in the first half, with there aggression in the tackle and there work rate.
Naomi conail reacted well in the second half, and got the draw.
Overall I would have put Eunans slightly better on the day, but the worry for Eunans is they were the better team but didn't beat Naomi conail.
And some of Naomi conails better players were quiet, McKelvey, the Doherty's, McGuinness, and a few others.
But both sides will take the point and move on fairly quickly.

From a neutral perspective, Naomh Conaill wee very poor, with a lot of star men not performing. On the flip side, Anthony Thompson completely turned the game in his 15 minute cameo.

For Eunans I was very impressed with Kieran Tobin and Ciaran Moore. I think Jim will be telling Rory Kavanagh to share his old diet sheet with Moore, get the two dinners and ice cream into him as he probably needs a little more bulk. But he has serious potential.

Also, I don't know why Eunans tried to engage in the silly stuff. If they had stuck to football they would've won. Probably laying down a marker for later in the year.

My takeaway from the game was Eunans threw their very best at it and yet again couldn't get over the line. Glenties barely got out of 2nd gear with the handbrake on with a lot of men not showing up. On this showing Glenties have a lot of improving to do but should win the c'ship at a canter, again.

There is no doubt Eunans had Naomh conail rattled for the first half, probably didn't expect as high a intensity because it was a group game. Eunans were definitely trying to put down a marker.
Only thing that might go against them is if they meet again, did Eunans show there cards to early. Only time will tell.
From Naomh conail perspective, from playing so poorly, a point was a great result. And if we can keep our more senior players fit, then we won't be far away.
It's just a pity that we won't see mcgettigan in the forward line, was playing exceptional and is a big loss.
And I am sure most neutrals would want to see him play.
A lot of football to be played yet, and there is no one guaranteed anything.

The constant breaking of the rules by teams in regards to number on the sidelines should be dealt with harshly. Fines followed by forfeit of the match if necessary. Things like that have a knock on effect on our ability to recruit referees. I mean, who wants to listen to that for an hour? No doubt there will have been a match monitor at all championship games and any violations should be punished immediately. There's no excuse for allowing it to continue.

I don't know if he was there as the 4th Official, but the Head of the referees was stuck in the middle of all that was going on.

Don't think he was there as a 4th official , all subs were still giving the sub slips to the referee on the field.

Anyone at the games over the weekend? Nothing too dramatic in terms of results. Naomh Conaill, Eunans and Kilcar continue to plough on. Glenswilly recorded another win but have they been really tested yet? They'll get a better idea of where they're at this weekend although I sense there could be a bit of shadow boxing with both teams already safely through. Gaoth Dobhair got back on track against their neighbours CCF, but played only in fits and starts. Aodh Ruadh dug out another result away in Killybegs. They'll be a tough nut to crack but maybe lacking a bit of start quality to go all the way. Plenty to play for at the bottom end of the table too.

In the intermediate Termon continue to look most impressive, but Buncrana are motoring along well too. As always in the Intermediate though, there are teams who will fancy their chances - Naomh Columba, Downings and Malin will also feel that they will have their say.

In the junior Na Rossa, Naomh Conaill and Convoy look to be the main candidates. Naomh Ultan had a fine win in Carndonagh.

Hi Lockjaw: what do you mean as regards Glenswilly and Naomh Conaill when you say "both teams safely through"? More than likely 1 team will end in quarter final (top 4) and the other will end in a preliminary quarter final.

Termon definitely the standout team in the intermediate. The new management seem to be letting their players play a bit, but have also maintained a good defensive structure. Saw them last week.. they were far too good for Downings. Naomh Columba seem to be too inconsistent. Don't see Downings challenging Termon, they're a very average team with a couple very good forwards. Fanad, who seem to be missing a load of players probably should have beaten them yesterday with a bit more composure.

Can I just congratulate the Donegal Gaa for bringing cash back at the gates..I just hope other counties follow a similar route..I also see Meath lgfa did the same..well done to both..

Hi CTGAA10, would this not be the clubs just taking cash at the gate as normal? The County Board would not have any control until the latter stages? Correct me if I am wrong.

Yeah I can't see too many clubs, if any at all, turning down cash on the gate. As you say, when it gets to the business end, and games are in MacCumhaill Park it might be a different story.
