Replying To Scenicparish:  "I never singled out the Senior Championship? I meant the knock out stages of all Championships. When you need to win a match like the knock out stages of Championships the better players normally stand out. That's my opinion anyway."
But what about a player like KJ Molloy who is showing great potential, but it's possible Ardara won't make the knockout?
I agree that it's great to see a player make the difference in the do-or-die type matches, but it's not the be all and end all either.

Replying To rorysboys:  "You're right there some senior clubs think that if you play junior you're not good enough to play county. A lot of great junior players down the years proved that wrong. As you mention caolan Mc Colgan. Conor o donnell. David Walsh from 2012 are examples.. and I guarantee you Mc Guinness will be using another few who play junior championship this year in his squad.."
Any idea who from junior that's not already in the Squad?

He's a young lad. Give him time. But what has he done to merit all this attention? No score from play v Eunans or Glenswilly. Not one point. He hit a few frees for Donegal underage. Again not prolific..don't want to seem harsh on the lad but hopefully he grows into a very good player. I just don't see the hype.

There will always be good players that won't be involved in knock out matches. I'm sure Jim will be well aware of those players as well.

Simple. They didnt pick any players from junior clubs or anyone from outside of those who had come through county underage. McGuinness did last time round and I hope he does again.

You mention being conservative but I asked you to name players who you think were ignored. As I say I think all the best players were on the squad.

There's definitely interesting players showing up really well in the intermediate and junior championships. Some of them have been around the u20's this year as well. Even a quick glance at match reports and you can see the same players making the difference every week

Replying To PeterQ92:  "I think you raise very interesting questions.
You are correct in saying that Rory and Declan were very conservative in selecting players from outside of the obvious. They simply selected those who had come through from underage and as we well know there is more in the county than that. No idea how Paddy Carr selected his squad, I would guess that it was selected for him as he did not know the club scene nor the players.
McGuinness will select the right character and personality for the hard road which may mean so called big names being left out.

As to whether the 2023 group are better than 2011, I believe we have better players now. Whether we have better leaders, I'm not so sure!"
Bonner certainly has no issue looking further afield for players in his new role. They'd give Nottingham Forest a run for their money when it comes to transfers in!

We could have Jim on one of them apps the wanes have like snapchat is it? we'd know where he is at all times lol.
Great to have him back, hope is restored and that's a big thing, it lifts the mood all round,
hope he can get the backing he needs, one things for sure bigger crowds will be back even for league games with Jim there.

Ah yeah I don't mean to put pressure on anyone. Just from a few people I've spoken to, there are hopes that he could be one to watch. Look, anything could happen, injuries, loss of form/confidence. A case of waiting and seeing how it goes.

Aaron Doherty was similarly touted. He's going very well in the Intermediate. It will be interesting to see if he'll be involved with the county in 2024. Loads of abiity but can he really push on and become an established county player? We can't rely on Paddy forvever, and Gallen has had a lot of injury problems, hopefully in the past now though.

Mark Curran has been indispensable since Carr integrated him into first team at the age of 24. Clearly good enough for a number of seasons. Instead Declan played a full back with a broken back.

How do you know he was good enough. What happened him against Darragh canavan this year.

Indeed, Declan's Donegal News column should be good craic in the coming weeks. It will be hard for him to try to continue to talk up other teams in the running for the Junior championship and downplay his own team when they are knocking in 9 goals in a game.

Between Glenties and Dungloe recruits there'll soon be more non Na Rossa men than Na Rossa men in the team.

Because of the regard in which he is held by every senior forward in the county.

I presume they must be eligible to play and reside in the club boundaries when they're playing. Could you name the transfers this year and I'll investigate for you.. shudnt be a hard task

We're you talking to all the senior forwards in the county, maybe you should be talking to daragh canavan and Ben o Carroll.
