Few points over the last few days:

Can we stop the glenties/Fintown bashing - I don't care how they set up if it's ugly , boring , horrible etc. the fact is the mgt understands their capabilities and fully embraces all out defensive - the onus was on us or whoever the opposition is to figure out how to break that down.

Glenties/Fintown won the game fair and square regardless of the sending off - we just didn't have enough to break down that mass defensive and should of been better prepared and expected it as there was no way glenties/Fintown were going to play any other way as we clearly have the better players but they have a better organised system that they have been playing for 17 years now.

We all could learn a lot from the glenties/Fintown clubs - the way they have conducted themselves in recent years is a credit compared to the way they used to behave in the past - mostly in the stands to be fair.

The sending off was a farce and honestly disgusting - no blame on the opposition for that - firmly rests on the linesman - can't believe nobody calling out the link with 1997 here.

The diving antics of the player - doesn't matter - there are no rules to punish and the cuteness and experience won out there.

Just quick question in the glenties/Fintown faithful - were was the usual big numbers ye generally bring for games - nowhere near the same no's as previous years and nowhere near the no's on the streets for the homecoming looking at the pics.

The reality is also that I would not care how my team plays as long as they empty the tank and bring success - there isn't a person in the country that would swap success for all out attacking football - no Chance.

Glenties/Fintown don't pay any heed to the snide comments - it generally comes out of jealousy and we have experienced enough of that down through the years.

Enjoy the moment as it won't last forever and best of luck having a crack at ulster.

We will meet again next year…….

Good post. Fair play.

Eunans will never be too far away. There is a great squad of young players there. I would imagine it will be a very enticing managerial role if indeed Rory Kavanagh does become the new county manager.

Just on the Glenties style; I know there is a commonly held view that they set their stall out based on the players they have. They don't have marquee forwards as such to play a more attacking game. I'd be very interested to know if the same style is coached in their underage teams? Say from u16 up teams are probably starting to be exposed to the tactical side of the game. Do Glenties teach their tactics which have served them so well at senior over the last decade and more? Or are different styles coached based on the type of players available?

Not a pop at Noamh Conaill either. It's just that we saw so many teams over the years attempting to replicate what Jim did for Donegal, but who had neither the players or the tactical awareness to properly implement it.
Will less successful clubs look to adopt Naomh Conaill's style? But similar to the example above, won't have the expertise or players to do it.

Just one final point I forgot to include was around the comments around men and bottle.

They are completely unnecessary comments and pretty sour from a winning camp.

There was none of that thrown at glenties/Fintown last year when smashed by 10 points in one of the most 1 sided county finals in years.

The fact is there has been nothing more then a point between these 2 great teams - except last year one sided final.

And I'd expect these 2 great clubs to fight it out for the next few years - the reality is we are a good bit ahead of the pack.

If you really want to congratulate us on our great victory, then show the respect we deserve and Call us by our club name Naomh conail and stop this glenties/fintown name calling.

And i was at the game, and everyone that could possibly be at the game was there, and in my opinion we completely outnumbered st eunans when it came to support. I was also at the celebrations in Glenties and a massive crowd was there to celebrate the naomh conail victory.
I have been to all the county final celebrations this past 17 years, and i can safely say this was by far the best one and most enjoyable night.

All the negative talk doesn't bother us in the slightest, we feed off that stuff.

I know personally that you could not get a more honest bunch of footballers in naomh conail, that not only put massive effort on the field, but also get involved with underage teams off it.
A tight knit community that sticks together and would do anything for a neighbour or a outsider needing help.

So can we not stop the disrespect negative talk from now on, and properly congratulate the 2022 county champions, Naomh conail

You may say you have a fantastic bunch of footballers in NC, and few could disagree,
but I'll tell you this for nothing,
there is nothing fantastic about lying on the ground pretending you were hit in the face to get a man sent off, if that's what I had to do to win then I'd rather lose.
On the other subject that's perplexed us all for months, the fellas mentioned on the Championship podcast about Jim having been in for a few weeks coaching NC recently, my question is if he isn't likely to get a soccer job anytime soon then why isn't he putting his hand up to manage Donegal again?
It's time he got back in the game so to speak, I can understand why he may have big reservations about dealing with the geniuses on our county board again though.
Rory Kavanaghs cv hasn't improved with Eunans county final performance anyway, he may be anxious to stay on and correct the record next year, could be too soon for him in the top job but we'll see how it pans out soon enough.

Naomh Conaill had a player sent off in the 2019 semi-final for a push in the 1st half. Still went on to win the game. Some whining from the Eunans hierarchy since the weekend. There is a sense of entitlement with them. Did they expect Naomh Conaill to roll over for them?

Nothing honest about throwing yourself in the ground like you've been shot holding your hearing after being pushed in the chest.

I think you need to take a furtherlook at the incident. Anyway according to the Eunans manager the alleged striking incident was meant to have happened while the player was lying on the ground. Get your facts straight.

Done your best to get some subtle digs in at Naomh Conaill. The constant calling them 'Glenties/Fintown'. Take your medicine.

Its laughable all the posters saying they would Rather lose than win like we did, really funny. Off course you would hand the trophy back if your club won by one of your players hitting the floor as he got contact. Really thank you for giving me a good laugh.
Maybe thats why we are winners, because winners win at all cost.

Now congratulate the Donegal county champions Naomh conail.

Couldn't blame him after the abuse he got after Saturday. Keyboard warriors strike again saying didn't do this didn't do that in the last 5 minutes etc
When you play against the defensive crap been played in Donegal these days you concede on the other end simple as!
It's gonna be a LONG road back for Donegal and even longer for club football in the County!
Defensive football certainly imo has ruined the game and possibly the reason he is not pursuing the job.
Alot of people online seem to know better and by the sounds of things would make great managers.

Plenty keyboard warriors about all summer too. Yet when we looked for a manager we had only two nominations. Where's all the big names that were mentioned here. Donegal football is in a mess and last Saturday reiterated the root problem. Boring football and then when the county team loses it s the managers fault, the big problem is club managers. The n Conal posters were on here saying they don't follow the county because of the way we play. Jesus wept.

I love how you're trying to compare the approach of Donegal and Naomh Conaill and calling it hypocritical. If you can't see the difference in those two teams and what one group is getting out of themselves compared to the other then I don't know.

Out of interest - where does a winning team draw the line at winning at all costs? Or is there indeed a line at all??

Read my post I'm comparing nothing. I'm talking the truth Donegal football is in a mess because of the way our clubs team play. Especially the senior teams. Do you honestly think n Conal will win Ulster playing that way. Not a hope. When nobody wants to manage our county team it shows where we're at. We're totally over rated. Only fool s don't see that. We hounded a good man for what probably an outsider. .Where's all the big names in our own county too many big ego's I'm afraid
