Declan Bonner is gone and declansboy is still on here day in day out polluting this thread, sad individual.
Hopefully we'll know soon enough who's getting the job, there'd be less secrecy about the Vatican when they are electing a new Pope!!

You don't seem to like me lad. It's a pity because I imagine you would be the life and soul of any party. Ha

You have no right to call anybody a sad individual. Maybe you should take a look at your own posts.. as I said before shudnt Matter to you who the manager is, they'll only be in it a few months and you will be on criticising them. Sad really.

I don't have any opinion on u as I've never met you - certainly wouldn't form a dislike to anyone on a forum.

What I would say is I dislike the way you constantly try put people down for expressing an opinion and the way in which you do so is rather distasteful - constantly calling names and adding lol at the end of every post pretty much.

That aside deep down I'm sure your a great lad but just need to get out more.

So the unofficial list of candidates for the Donegal Senior Football job are :

1) Martin McHugh and Maxi

2) Shaun Paul Barrett

3) Malachy O'Rourke

Have I missed any candidates/rumours ?!

The only problem people have with me is I call a spade a spade. I have no time for bluffers or people who disrespect good people. I would never disrespect any player or manager, these people are putting time and energy into what they do .. I'm being slated for stating facts about where I think the Donegal seniors are at. It's my opinion if you don't agree that's your prerogative. I'll. be proven right but hopefully I'm wrong. But I doubt it

Have you inside knowledge lad. If Mc Hugh doesn't get it he'll not be a happy camper. I don't like outside managers but if that's the 3 there's a good chance o rourke will get it. He probably has an experienced back room team too.. let the fun begin

I've heard plenty of rumours and this is the best sense I can make of it right now. Most of the other names that have been linked with the job have said they don't want it (either publicly or privately).

Does this actually excite anyone?
I will hold my hand up and say I don't know much about Shaun so perhaps he is a good candidate for the job but the other options don't excite me at all.

Some difference when you look at the list of candidates and their big name backroom teams for the Mayo job,
Hope whoever it is we get starts us playing attacking football and doesn't play Murphy as sweeper as was done in this years Ulster final, Michael probably has a few more years left where he could do a great job for us in at FF,
disaster of a system now for the intercounty scene, it's gone completely off the radar, we should be getting ready now for semi finals and finals, club scene is good I know but the GAA has lost a lot of it's national profile, big mistake having the All Ireland's over so early imo.

Peter Canavan was supposed to have been spotted with Mick McGrath in The Villa Rose Hotel in Ballybofey last week and before anybody says it could just be a coincidence, I already know but sure, its another name to throw into the discussion at least...

I would be taking Malachy O Rourke out of those 3 all day long personally. Astute, proven track record and I think would be a popular choice among players and command most respect. I think the first option could be divisive and the second unproven for the level we are talking about. But I'll be 100% behind whoever gets it and if they bring us back to Croke Park and bigger days then I'll be happily proven wrong.

Im not a huge fan of the way the process is being conducted in Donegal but I much rather it to the circus in Mayo at the minute. Probably the reason they lost AIs they should have won. Everything has to be played out in the public domain.

Anyway we'll wait the white smoke from MacCumhaill Park.

How is Shaun Paul Barrett in the running?
I know who he is from his time managing Milford and Donegal underage, I would agree that he is a decent coach/manager, but I just haven't see anything in his background to suggest he is the man for the Donegal Senior job. I'm not against his application, I just haven't seen anything yet to suggest he would be a stand out candidate.

Martin McHugh would be someone I would support, but I feel his management ticket revealed so far is still a bit weak with Maxi Curran and Mark McHugh. Maxi has been in coaching circles for many years now and brings significant experience from coaching, but not sure about Mark McHugh and also who else.

Malachy O'Rourke is proven at County Level, it remains to be seen if he could take us to All Ireland success, but he would certainly bring fresh eyes and an unbiased approach to the County team.

With Jim out of the running, the only choice I see working is Malachy O'Rourke. I know an outside manager won't be popular but he has a proven record at county level. I just can't see a McHugh/Maxi management team work, they are divisive and just not what we need at the moment.

Whoever gets the job, I would love to see us move away from the type of football we have been playing in the past two seasons. I think its obvious to anyone who attends club games that we have a serious problem, our games are very defensive with no kick passing. The effort of the club players is unreal, lads giving everything they have and I feel bad being critical but they way they are being asked to play is criminal.

Nothing in the names leaked good enough Manager for a County team , could there be a Tyrone man head huinted by County Board, maybe Canavan or M Harte ?

Mickey would come cheap and Peter wouldn't come at all. There's only one county job he has his eyes on.

I agree with you, but until a team starts dominating with a different approach, I fear the clubs will stick with what they know.

The Canavan rumour has too many holes in it for me to take it half seriously!
Mickey Harte is past it so I doubt he'll be approached .

Anyway, that would be pretty bad if we need to get a manager from our biggest enemy :)
