I was at a loose end and took a spin up the road to see the game in Newtownforbes last night.
I was talking to 2 older gentlemen from the Clonguish club and they were saying 9 of the 17 players used last night were all under 20 and that 4 more are missing who possibly would have been starting.
I have to say they looked very impressive for young lads and you could see there is a bit of footballing in them.
3 of them were playing in central spots at centre back, centre forward and full forward.
I wasn't talking to anyone from Killoe but I know they were missing a few players also.
Hard to read too much into the game but an impressive performance and win for Clonguish.

Ah Killoe had a very weak team out. Clonguish are very poor still and wont make any waves all year. Don't believe the hype about these young lads if I'm honest.

Killoe had a second string team out. No one is getting carried away. What hype? No one is hyping any player. Good on you writing off 18 and 19 year olds before their careers have even started though

Does anyone have the Killoe team from the other night? I wouldn't know many from either club. All I know was Joe O'brien was in goals for Clonguish and Paddy Kiernan was in midfield for Killoe.

Will people relax over the result of 1 game. Both teams missing many players and clonguish worth their win but that's it and move onto the next one. Judge a team on how the year is going and not one game.

Anyone looking to make a few pound, get onto Boylesports. They have Killoe at 3/1 to win the championship. I just stuck €100 on them today. Handiest money I'll ever win with the bookies!

3/1???? I get it hard to believe they are that long.

Looks like great odds if you can get them at that now because odds will definitely shorten after one or two of the group games.

For sure, I couldn't believe it. I lumped the money on before it could change. I checked PP after and they had them at 11/3 lol..... Down to 10/3 now with PP. Both had Mullinalaghta at short odds favourites.

Clonguish managed to fluke a win away against Abbeylara missing half a team, their luck wont be long running out I'd say. Relying on youngsters and old stagers they wont be long getting found out by a proper team

A "proper" team. You have a lot of bitterness towards a club your own one has no history with. Some might think you are not a Ballymore supporter at all!

I see Carrickedmond forfeited their last game, so it's Mullinalaghta v Killoe in the Division 1 decider next Wednesday. League semi-finals will be Mullinalaghta, Slashers, Killoe and 1 other. Abbey could still overtake Clonguish at the weekend to take that final spot. Unlikely but not impossible.

Can Slashers win their first Leader Cup since 1991 (yep, it's been that long!!!). My prediction is Killoe for the Division 1 title and Mullinalaghta for the Leader Cup.

What old stagers?
Joe O'Brien who is second choice keeper or Niall O'Reilly who is about 35?
The rest of the team are about 26 and under......if you are calling them old stagers then there is no hope for us old men lol

Abbeylara were not missing half a team!! They had all their county lads back playing! I seen the Clonguish team in the paper and they were still without Mikie McGuinness, Gerry Moore, Darren Quinn, Ross Shields, Conor Shields, Jack Duggan and Michael Flynn......that to me adds up to very close to half a team missing for Clonguish!
And I may have missed out on a few lads who might not have played either.

I hold my hands up and admit I got that one wrong. I just thought that the Clonguish team were too young but they have shown they are fit and able for Senior football. They have a chance of making a Leader Cup semi-final which would be a good achievement for this young team. I think the average age of their starting 15 against Abbey was about 22-23 years of age. Apart from the two 37 year olds on the starting 15 the rest was made up of 3 lads in their mid twenties and the rest all under 21.

Would Slashers be worth a shout in the championship?
Hard to know what to make of them.
Seemed to be going well in the league and then they took a big beating against Mullinalaghta.
Apart from them and Colmcille, who else could cause an upset?
Dromard maybe.....I think the Abbey boys had their 4 shots at it and failed each time.
