Replying To liosbreac6265:  "Brilliant win today to complete the championship sweep of schoolboy to u21, not forgetting the hurling title it's a feat never achieved before. The result itself was never in doubt from the 3rd minute as Granard who did try hard just were no match in the individual battles all over the pitch. Well done to Longford Slashers ladies too who created a bit of history themselves"
An easy win for Clonguish. Granard were just outmatched but tried valiantly. Getting to the final was probably above their own expectations.

Congratulations to the Slashers girls on their great win over Charlestown. A big day in Croke Park is ahead of them now.

Fantastic result for Slashers ladies today. Great experience for them now in Croke Park and hopefully a good push in the right direction for the County team for next season.

Interesting Indeed. Lots of lotto tickets to be sold in Killoe.
Don't think Gavin was with him in at Gaeil Colm Cille in Kells where he spent just one season. Gavin has been doing a reasonable job with the Westmeath U20's and has held the job for quite a while.
Where would Killoe rank for the 2023 championship - presume they will be gunning for silverware ?

A cake walk in the park yesterday for Clonguish.
I did have them down as favourites but I didn't think it would be that easy.
I was talking to 2 Clonguish supporters yesterday and they were telling me that only one of the starting 15 is overage next year and another 1 or 2 overage the following year.
12 or 13 of the starting 15 yesterday were 17, 18 and 19 year olds!
And on top of that they had 2 of the minor squad who would also be starting out injured yesterday.

Just one question on the Longford County Board, why didn't they have the ladies game and under 21 game on as a double header?

Killoe would be one of the main challengers to Colmcilles title next year along with Mullinalaghta.
No money shortage in Killoe with the influx of money coming in from America, but this appointment is Killoe going all out to win it.
I don't think Dempsey got Gael Colmcille or Johnstownbridge past the quarter final stage of their respective championships and the last big appointment in Killoe couldn't get past it either.
e!

It's a very young team, that's why this win is particularly sweet as at the start we genuinely did not think we would win it out. Once Killoe drew with Slashers confidence began to grow.
It's not up to the county board to put on the ladies fixtures, it would depend if it was requested or not. I have no idea but I would say Slashers ladies were happy playing on their home ground. I saw the usual cry babies on social media complaining that the games were on at the same time, do they not realise that the u21 needs to get played without dragging on to Christmas like it used to. These lads are also playing schools, freshers, sigerson and working and with the days short there are not a load of options when playing a final in pearse park! Besides it's not like there was a crossover between the competing clubs. There are always ones to complain about everything

Arguably have the best squad in the county.
Serious amount of players out in killoe with a lot lost after underage in the last few years but still have a serious squad

Be interesting to see the remuneration ratio between Dempsey and Damien Gavin, fairly sure it won't be 50:50!!!! He and Rowley are good buddies, lot of similarities!!

Well done to Clonguish who wore the tag of favourites in Under 21 all the way to the end in style, as predicted. They had 6 minors in that starting 15 yesterday, very strong side and will be for a few years yet! Also congrats to Slashers ladies, will be getting a big day out in Croke Park and televised on TG4 too. Great achievement.

Dempsey is a big name for Killoe. Big names don't always mean titles, depends on how things gel as we saw with Fergal O'Donnell a few years ago (he went on to great things elsewhere, fair play). Vast majority of success in Killoe came with managers from within - last time Killoe won a senior championship with an outside manager was almost 35 years ago with Dessie Dolan in 1988 and that's the only time since returning to senior 45 years ago that Killoe got to a county final with an outside manager. But am glad to see someone of Dempseys experience at the helm and lets see what he can do. We don't use lotto tickets to pay for managers out our way lads. Like yourselves, we attract sponsors for that :-)

Did Tommy McCormack not win one?

Great win Slashers for sure. They're a tough team and battled all the way to the end. It was nice to be able to catch the live stream. Looked like a great turnout with much of the stand and hillside looking full from the camera angle on the canal side.

Tommy did of course but is he not a Killoe man like all the McCormacks?

Any word on Darren Gallaghers transfer to St.Lomans? Would be a huge loss for them....

Yes, Tommy is the same McCormacks from Killoe. I think Lios Breac was having a little dig because they played their football with Clonguish.
