Replying To Spinx:  "Killashee will want to win to avoid playing Connollys in the semi final. Connollys tend to choke in the final, so they are better of playing us in the semi final if they want to win Intermediate. The way we are going, we won't beat Killashee or Balymore, so it makes no difference who we play. I said at the start of the year that Big Nialler was not the right appointment for us and I was mocked by several posters on here. We were shocking tonight."
Strange post Spinx!! I was at the game, and the first half Gaels probably should of been leading a half time only for some poor decision making. also down a few starters (tactical Maybe) including P Gill their best player for a number of years!

Connollys looked impressive in the second half and their main players stood up, but as you said they are prone to choking in pearse park.

And you say Niall Sheridan was not the right appointment, why? who would of been? from what I seen Gaels are pushing to win an inter title but thats about it as we know the inter championship is miles behind senior standard.

Killashee and Ballymore could easily make a final and wont fear either Gaels or Connollys, which makes it an exciting championship!!

Cashel will be very unlucky if they get relegated as they have had some good results, Ballymahon deserve to be juinor, Win an inter title and half the team retire!

Bit ridiculous for a neutral like yourself. How much is it into Intermediate semis

Why is it a strange post?
We didn't deserve anything from the game the other night.
Niall did nothing at Granard or Abbey when he was there.
Look at Abbey now!!
We have a talented squad (for Intermediate) that would be capable of winning the Intermediate but I said we wouldn't win it with our current manager.
But the way things are now, we would probably be better off staying competitive at Intermediate than going up and just coming straight back down again.

Just feel like you are being a bit harsh on your Club and Niall, Plenty of current managers have done nothing with previous clubs and its just a merry go round for managers picking up a cash job!! Gaels and Conollys still favourites to reach the final so finishing 2nd in Div 2 to Colmcille who ye ran close in the league game and reaching a county final is a decent season in my view.

Agreed who ever goes up to senior will come straight back down again next year and has happened for a few years now!

In fairness Kenagh are not gone back just yet, it's a game of football, they started championship looking well, if they find good form for 60 minutes then they'll stay up, slashers very beatable on an off day

Venues and times for Friday's relegation games are now up.

Carrickedmond v Mostrim is 8pm in Ballymahon
Longford Slashers v Kenagh is 8pm in Cashel

Hence on an off for slashers and top day keenagh capable but highly unlikely . Slashers should win comfortably

I see that Carrickedmond are lodging another appeal to the Longford CCC in relation to their Relegation play-off with Slashers. They are proposing that the CCC should have postponed that fixture as the appeal process was active as the Leinster HC had upheld their appeal on the morning that the Slashers match was to be played.

By the way are they charging €20 to watch the Relegation playoffs.

That squad has had a number of different decent managers over the last number of years, with little or not fruit to be seen, and many internal rumblings in the club itself from what i've heard.

Might be soon time to stop pointing the finger outwards

From reading of the independent article on it this morning, it appears Longford CCC may have made a mistake in not postponing the game with the rule they quoted.
Will be interesting to see what was the CCC thinking in allowing games go ahead when that rule was there.
Further appeals is not helpful to any team in relegation battle

I see why Carrickedmond did not play the game Saturday but surely logic should have dictated play the game v Slashers and see what happens? Worst case scenario is they are exactly where they are now. They could have beaten Slashers and had a game v Kenagh to all but guarantee safety.

They knew the quarter finals were going to go ahead that Saturday and that the Longford CB clearly havent a clue what they are doing. They knew the CB's way out of it was to just go ahead , play the Q-Finals and then they were not going to have to replay any other games.

Maybe I am wrong but looking from the outside, it seems a bit headstrong from Carrickedmond. County Board will stick with their decision (right or wrong) and now it looks like Carrickedmond are going to pay the price with relegation.

We have every right to point the finger outwards.
The last couple of managers we have had (current one included) do not know how to coach a team.
The talent is definitely there but we have been let down on the line.
Just look at the semi final last year!!
An in house appointment next year could be the way forward.

I think Carrick will win their appeal and the game will be refixd.

I Second this, it was headstrong from Carrick not to play slashers but I suppose they had to stick to their guns, county board need to have their head screwed on in the future

Sheridan got Ardagh/Moydow to the IFC final a handful of years ago, a remarkable feat now looking at the unfortunate decline since.

Arguably one of the best managers in the county hails from your own parish.... Perhaps it's telling that he is not in charge, wise to avoid the disrespect shown to Sheridan and lack of accountability taken within.

Back in national news again!!!
RTE Sport
Indo Sport

The playoff game should have been postponed. Carricks appeal was ongoing at the time and was upheld by Leinster that morning. To push on and award that game to Slashers (then or since) shows diabolical judgement and undermines the appeals process. More bad decision-making, causing more national headlines and making us a laughing stock, yet again!! If this was a company, the chair of that committee would be given a cardboard box and walked to the door a long time ago!
