Longford GAA thread

I see GAA has taken action to remind provinces that Minor final speeches are not allowed and to remind TG4 that interviews with players after the game is also not allowed. Must be a reaction to the f-bombs dropped after the Longford minor win?

Replying To LongfordgaaAbú:  "If the team that ends up top of the table at the end wins the Skelly Cup, then the team that ends up bottom should be relegated. At worst, the bottom 2 play off to decide who is relegated, but not the bottom 4 - that makes no sense at all and makes a mockery out of relegation."
I agree 100% with you.
But it looks like these new rules are in for this year and next year going by the website.

Right, the leagues are nearing an end, so lets try predict the championships in football for the year ahead.

Senior: Dromard
Intermediate: Fr. Manning Gaels
Junior: Killoe
Under 21: Clonguish
Minor: Clonguish Og
Under 16: Granard
Under 14: St. Vincents

I'm sticking with Dromard to win the senior this year but Killoe probably would be rightly starting off as favourites.

My predictions:

SFC: Clonguish
IFC: Fr Manning Gaels
JFC: Killoe
U21: Clonguish
U18: Clonguish
U16: Clonguish
U14: St. Vincents

Am sticking with Clonguish for senior, possibly a repeat of last years final with opposite result. Close call between St. Francis and Clonguish for Juvenile but i'm going with Clonguish to make it 5-in-a-row!

Senior: I said a few pages back Dromard, but changing my mind now! Killoe to win
Intermediate: Sean Connollys
Junior: Grattans

I wouldn't have much insight into the underage but Clonguish for under 21 and minor, Dromard for under 16 and Drumlish for Under 14.

I think Dromard might struggle this summer. An aging team and going to be without Matt Duffy, Oisin O'Toole and I think Joe Hagan might be away for some of the summer too. The will be up against it! Still should get out of the group though.

What's going on again in Killashee this year? It's like a big soap opera over there the last number of years. Not looking good for the future of the club.

Absolutely embarrassing from our County Board to not have updates on the Tailteann Cup game today. I'd say we'll be lucky to see a full time score at this rate!! They need to get the finger out and provide updates for fans who cannot make the games for whatever reason.

I don't know what you mean by that? Do you mean they won't publish any results at all in future? Surely they can only get better with their updates than worse! Our county twitter account has been deplorable the last 2 years at least. Every other county I see have score by score updates. I had to go to the Waterford page to keep up to date with the score.

Thankfully Waterford beat us and put us out of our misery this season. I'm expecting news later now that Christie has jacked it in.

No disrespect to Waterford I know they've had a great championship but I didn't think they'd turn u over like that, your game against us could have went either way. Sounds like this PC fella is a beaten docket, ye will be back in a year or two with new mgmt

After what I seen Friday night and last night you could be right. First time seeing Dromard this year and they did not impress me at all Friday night. You could say they were missing their county players but we were missing a lot more than them and won with ease. Their junior team has nothing coming through either. They will still make it through the group, but my earlier prediction of them winning it is very far away from what I seen them offer this weekend.

But who is there to come in and replace him. I think Christie has been a bit unlucky with injuries, management team being unsettled and lads not making themselves available for selection. I would say it might be good to give him another year because it can't get any worse

Dromard are missing three of their best five players how could you be writing them off based on how they've performed without them. They will be in a final this year and I'd tip them to win it

We were missing 9 or 10 players Friday night from our starting 15 and still beat them at ease. Their junior team has nothing coming through either as we beat them 5-20 to 2-01!!! If they had something coming through you could argue for them but not what I seen......and I did back them before this weekend to win it. But we will see I suppose.

I know longford are poor but they can't be this bad. PC has done absolutely nothing to warrant staying on. Why aren't players making themselves available? Would they make themselves available to another manager ? I can't understand how there are so many kill oe on the panel, when you saw how bad they were in Leinster

I don't know why my previous reply to this wasn't posted!!!
You can't be serious about PC? You're a Rathcline man.....go ask the the other Rathcline man why he stepped down. I know why as I heard from the horses mouth. Also, he can tell you why so many players are not on the panel. This other Rathcline man had some of these players willing to come back onto the panel, only for the main man to say no, he didn't need them!.

Well I wouldn't have all the information but I just think we have a group of players who are probably at division 4 level so what more could be got out of them?

How about getting a manager in who doesn't fall out with several quality players (for Longford level) and then alienate them altogether when a selector has them boys ready to come back on board.
