Replying To liosbreac6265:  "Senior championship is a one horse race as far as I can tell. Killoe as a team and club are miles ahead of everyone else. The strength in depth is not something we are in a position to compete with yet. Teams in all three divisions and the only club in the whole province to field two teams in the Leinster league.
Kenagh and Mostrim to get relegated."
Surely a one horse race is dramatic ? Clonguish should have beaten them last year and Clonguish just about qualified for the knockout stage. They may well win it but don't rule out Clonguish, Dromard etc

Yeah there's very little between a few clubs in Longford at the minute. Add to that the fact that Killoe always struggle to put back to back titles together. You won't meet many in Killoe who would believe they are favourites this year, let alone streets ahead (?!). Clonguish will be favoured by many to push on this year but they will be wary of inviting that tag. Dromard capable of upsets, Granard too who are going well in the league. I'm going for Clonguish because on top of getting to the final last year and nearly winning it, they have won back to back U21 Championships (would have been 3 or 4 in a row if not for Covid) and 3 in a row Minor Championships and 4 in a row Juvenile Championships, many of those won by big scores. Also have a good few lads who won Fr. Manning Cup titles last year and in 2021 and will have 5 lads starting in the Leinster Minor final later on tonight. Very strong and coming up, whereas Killoe is strong but on the wane and in my view easily caught out (certainly not streets ahead).

Brilliant win last night. That team is full of heart and never say die. Very proud of captain fantastic Mark Cooney and the way he stood over that free at the end. Great scenes in the town last night too. The football scene in the county needed that lift badly. Well done to all involved

Congratulations to all players, management and backroom team with the Minors last night, a fantastic win,an absolute credit to the county.

We have been very lucky that the last two provincial winning teams in 2002 & 2010 fed through a number of stalwarts to the senior set up and hopefully this trend continues, to form the basis of a strong, young, rebuilt senior side in the years to come.

Just like they did in the semi final, the lads showed real grit and determination to dig in at get the win when they needed to. Bias aside, its fantastic to see a county like our own still being able to win such titles and really gives a shot in the arm during times when its hard to see where small counties go to compete on the intercounty scene. Obvioulsy it would be great to see the success continue in the AI series, but i hope there will be continuous work put in with this team and any other successful teams in the coming years to try bring through to senior grade.

Congrats to Longford. That was a great win last night.

Is it true what they said on TG4? There are only 13 minor club sides in longford!
And no dedicated U16 grade.

Whereas Dublin have over 100 minor teams and over 70 u16 teams.

Really puts the win into perspective! Phenomenal achievement!

That's not true. There is an U-16 grade and there are more than 13 minor clubs. There are 21 adult clubs but of those Carrickedmond/Legan, Abbeylara/Mullinalaghta and Killashee/Cashel, are the one club at underage level. The number of teams in the minor championships can be lower than that depending on one-off amalgamations from year to year

Fantastic win last night. Credit to the players who showed plenty of grit, their captain who led from the front and their manager Enda who spoke very well after it. Lots of investment in county underage in recent years and with a Leinster championship and 2 Fr Manning Cups in the past 3 years, it is paying off. So credit where it is due to Club Longford too. Lots of potential in that squad and gives hope for bright days ahead on the senior and club scene. A night to remember, thanks a million lads for giving us lots to cheer about. Mól an óige agus tiocfaidh sí.

Congratulations to longford minors a super team. Would be curious for some insight on longford underage, for a small county they seem to often punch above their weight.

Well done to Longford minor footballers on last night's great win after extra time. It was a great second half by Longford night, scoring 0- 7 to 0-2 for Dublin. Longford have a good team there, they have shown that the smaller counties can compete with, and beat the larger counties.
Congratulations to the Longford GAA, a great night for your loyal supporters.
