Best of luck to Leitrim going forward. Leitrim has one of the smallest, if not the smallest playing population in the country. Guys here complaining about their county team and manager- These type of posters are in all counties and many would not know whether there was air in the ball, or just feathers! NY had at least one player with an AI medal so I assume he would not be too bad a player. It is difficult going to NY and winning as some posters have said- picking a player from a photo who was laughing and saying he was not taking the game serious is pretty silly -should he have been crying before the match-enough said.

Replying To masseyferguson:  "What rubbish are you talking about, you're fairly grasping at straws now.Enough about Saturday it's over,we need to focus on the TC now. We're in luck that we actually have a few weeks to prepare because I'd be worried we were out this weekend as it would be hard enough to pick the lads up."
Enough about Saturday it's over!! That's the attitude. Spot on.

Replying To ThePowerhouse:  "The statement and the overwhelming response encapsulates where we are and where we'll remain. Happy to fail.
If there's a need to issue a statement then it proves that they're being dishonest with themselves or not used to being told some hard truths. Was their performance poor? Yes it was. That includes shot selection and shot execution. Are they going to be told this at training or are they going to be told they're all great lads like a bunch of 9 year olds at a blitz? Was it the first game where they were lazy and complacent? No it wasn't. That's what angers me. In my opinion it's the laziness and complacency that has us stuck in division 4.

That can't all be down to Andy Moran. They're old enough to have rectified these issues at this stage. Now we're a laughing stock. If you believe otherwise then you're kidding yourself. There are few shrinking violets playing at that level and it applies to our lads as well. So now they've a choice. Whinge, look for sympathy and walk away or react the right way and prove you're worthy of the jersey. Is there talent? Absolutely there is but its pointless having it if you're not going to fulfill it. Like any person involved in sport I've no doubt they follow other sports. Think of a few leaders in other sports and Gaa and ask yourselves whether this continuous complacency would be acceptable. You know the answer.

At this stage I can nearly tell you where people stand or sit in Pairc Sean for every match. We have loyal supporters that keep coming back and not just to Pairc Sean. There's plenty of money put into this team and they're well looked after. We're told that we dont have big businesses to fund it so where does it come from? From us. Therefore, we expect that, on and off, the pitch there's honesty of effort. By all accounts they wanted for nothing before and after the match. We expect a positive reaction."
I'd agree with everything you said, except the bit about being a laughing stock. I reckon we are being pitied which is even worse.

Replying To Square_B:  "Remember only "Positive criticism" is allowed...

Much of the criticism here is hardly abusive... there was other stuff on other social channels which was a bit OTT and in the minority. Doesn't make it right but it exists. The best thing management & players can do now is to go out and prove everyone wrong and give the Tailteann Cup a good rattle. The main goal of the season was to be promoted which has ended in failure so what's there to loose in fairness?"
I suspect the co board are stinging a bit from criticism coming their way too!

So we type here that we are happy with the result and all is well, is that the way?

Laughing? He wasn't laughing. He was acting the clown. It's not acceptable in my book.

The negativity on this Forum does not reflect the views of true supporters who accept that results don't always go our way. Most of you don't live in the County the rest are regular moaners who obsess about coaching Co board conspiracies and enjoy knocking down our talented players. Why do you bother. Nobody is listening to you.Go away you're an embarrassment.

I dont know why Leitrim are getting so heavily criticised, I thought they played some excellent football and were beaten by the smallest of margins to a really strong NY team 3000 miles from home, Why the shock!!

The result is the result and I assume the players and management made no plan to make you, or indeed anyone else unhappy. From my own experience the guys who played little make the most criticism of their team/management and that is pretty similar in all counties. The best of luck to all going forward

We have been beaten by a team cobbled together playing their first competitive game! In fairness now any Leitrim person with a remote interest in GAA knows we don't have too many successful days, but we would expect New York should be beaten.

Is a Leitrim person living in Dublin, London or indeed NY a lesser person than those living in the county? Because that is what you are implying there. You reckon Leitrim people living in NY are ecstatic this week?

The embarrassing ones here are the ones who accept mediocrity and don't strive for their county to improve, in all aspects of life

Commiserations to Leitrim on this defeat. It could easily have been Sligo last year and as many posters have referred to, NY brought in better players this year.

I think it was 2017 that Radio 1 advertised full radio commentary of New York v Sligo (it might have been Marty Morrissey). There seemed to be a ground swell of opinion that New York were finally going to make the breakthrough and win a match, and RTE wanted to be there for it. Thankfully Sligo came through it,

Didn't see the match but it sounds like Leitrim left it behind them with the amount of goal chances missed. Nevertheless, it should be a warning to Sligo. NY got spanked by Offaly last year, but I expect they will be a different proposition now, with the new players and the swagger/belief of a first championship win.

I think Sligo will come through but they need to approach the game properly. (Nightmares of 2010 when we beat Galway and Mayo, and then never turned up for the final).

Division 4 was a dogfight this year. I had hoped that Sligo v Leitrim would be a dead rubber with both going up. However your loss to Wexford was a killer blow. People slagging Leitrim on this forum would do well to remember that had Leitrim beaten Sligo, they would have been promoted at our expense. And I thought the writing was on the wall after Leitrim went ahead after being so far behind. And Leitrim beat Laois, which Sligo failed to do. So fine margins indeed.

I hope you have a good run in the Tailteann cup. If you can play for 70 minutes and get people to take some of the load off Beirne, you will cause teams a lot of problems.

You must have a few all stars by the sounds of things? Well done. The best of look going forward we might meet in the Tailteann Cup.

We should have won that game easily. Missed a load of goal chances. Sligo will have no problem with NY.

No I don't,but I repeat this forum has some of the most negative whingers of any forum.

For example the knockers never have a constructive suggestion about tactics team selection etc.

For a county that has the most loyal supporters in the country you are outliers with this constant destructive barrage of criticism from the anonymity of the typewriter.

How would any player be inspired listening to this constant harping.I sure hope they don't read this page.

We are a very small county with limited resources and can ill afford to have negatively as our anthem.
