Be realistic"
Dessie Dolan is a good call from a poster above.... I think a very realistic candidate given his father's previous involvement but hard to judge where his future lies... a bit like when I thought Mickey Graham might not be interested in Leitrim all those years ago... Leitrim would be a step down for him I would feel.
Padraic Davis if he could be persuaded to give up his time given the business he is in.
Eamon O'Hara.... might be time for him to step up to county but you have to wonder why it hasn't happened before this given that he's been around the block ... maybe he only has his eye on Sligo who knows.
Declan Bonner ... I mentioned him a good while back... he's involved with Erne Gaels who are in the Fermanagh County Final. Probably a bit left field but worth a call.
McCormacks... but I doubt it given what happened in Fenagh recently.

At the end of the day it's now all about the background team the manager can assemble but it needs to happen ASAP... in the next 4 weeks.

Where to now. It's crucial we get this right. I have a feeling it will be Eamon O'Hara who went for the job previously and now knows Leitrim football inside out. Win the championship on Saturday and you'd have to think he's a serious contender.

I would suggest any top manager out there that's available has already turned down other counties and I can't see Leitrim changing the minds of the top coaches. E.g James Horan allegedly turn down Derry, and I can only imagine the likes of Westmeath, Longford would have made a call to him also."
Haha yeah you found me out I am Mickey Graham, awh it was bugging me after Sunday, I have been to 9 senior games and 2 intermediate and I haven't seen him at one. No issue with him, he has his own life but from what I've heard a few players are stepping away from the panel this year, which makes Leitrim odds on to go straight back down. So if your Senior manager isn't attending games trying to find the next Barry McNulty then we haven't a hope next year.. Someone else told me player buy-in for next year is an issue. So god knows how many other players won't be committing.

With Cavan Gaels being knocked out at the weekend (Mickey was in the backroom) maybe he turned his attention to the Leitrim set up and realised his League campaign was about to get more difficult given the absence of key players for '24.

There are plenty of ambitious clubs in the wider catchment area that would be able to attract him, with a greater guarantee of success than the Leitrim job.

Good chance O'Hara is offered it whatever way the game goes this weekend, as someone said he'd well versed in the club scene now I don't think Henry's day job is conducive to senior inter county management.

Dessie Dolan might be a shout given his Dad, maybe he could convince, Pádraic Davis to get involved, both ex St Mels College men.

Luke Dempsey / Declan Bonner / Shane Ward all managing clubs not too far away and all have I/C experience.

Nor did most Leitrim people however it was mentioned here a few weeks back about his lack of a backroom team (think myself) but no alarm bells were raised then (which was fair enough(. Reading through the lines would the 'circumstances beyond his control' mean he couldn't get the backroom team he wanted? It's looking increasingly likely that it was the case. Perhaps he had people lined up and they reneged? So disappointing whatever the circumstances and yes I hope it's nothing healthwise with him.

If Eslin win this weekend it will be the greatest shock since Bobby Ewing turned up in the shower

OHara would be my choice. Others listed above mostly don't have the experience yet or would not have any interest. One has been there and done that, definition of madness and all that jazz

James Glancy
Alan Flynn
Declan Darcy
Benny Guckian
Ryan Holmes
Eamonn O Hara
Mick Joyce
Dom Corrigan
Paddy Christy
Ray Barnevelt
Padraic Davis

This list is not exhaustive, but they're some brilliant proven managers that spring to mind. We need to get this appointment sorted asap as teams need to organise s and c, logistics, management teams etc."
Yes, Declan Darcy is going to give his paid position with Leinster Rugby to come back & manage Leitrim .its daft putting his name on any list . You might as well put Kieran McGeeney name down

Very disappointing to hear bout Mickey but rumours have it he got a good offer from a club from south dublin whose manager is taking over Meath, time will tell I guess. It just leaves it very messy with only a month till the county team is back. Looking at a lost of candidates from above I think Alan Flynn is a no go, his style of football with Marys is very very negative and it would be a hard watch going forward with that. O hara to be fair to him has Mohill playing very good football his patterns of play are very good. I'm going to go a bit left field here Aidan Rooney ex stalward of Leitrim done very good work with Sligo underage trams recently and would be up to the job. It's a rebuilding process now with so many lads apparently stepping away so a big big name and money here isn't what we need. We've great underage players coming through the lines at the moment they much be concentrated on properly. Liam Keenan cost Mohill a title against Ballinamore with back on field management leaving Mc Keon free to do what he wanted was madness in that final if they tagged him they'd have won that one easy. My list of people that should be offered the senior job
Aidan Rooney
Eamon O'Hara
Patrick Davies
Jessie Dolan

The next group to look after the underage in leitrim has to be
James Glancy Manor
Barry Mc Weeney
Martin Mc Gowan
Terrace Reynolds with a good s and c coach and build for the future.

What great work did Aiden Rooney do with Sligo underage teams? I wasn't at school that day.
O Hara would be an interesting choice. Sligo bypassed him and went for MC Entee. The odd thing at the time was that the Co chairman was from the same club as O Hara who was after winning a few senior titles as a player and manager of the club.

Lads, I think the poster who suggested Liam Keenan was a bit tongue in cheek.
He did nothing with Longford Slashers when he was with them and then he took charge of the Ardagh ladies half way through the season and got them relegated!
