Cregg was a very good footballer and looked exceptional on some days. He had a good burst of pace and an eye for goal. I remember a league match against Kerry a few years ago, where they just couldn't handle him at all. He ran at the corner back all day and got a good few scores. The best of luck to him. The whole league and championship needs a full review in my opinion the following should happen: Leagues should be finished before championship begins this thing of playing semi finals and finals after is a disaster what chance had glaveys last night and i believe that the gaels will have no chance either tbh. He said straight out he didn't think they would go back. Maybe the fresh backroom team helped them decide to stay on. In relation to lining up more with Connacht, I'm not sure, Galway Champions didn't have any break after their county final, Pearses were to have a few weeks & just as well as Covid hit them, I think the 3 week gap is ok, allows a team to celebrate (and rightly so) while also allowing time to get back training & focus on the upcoming game. What I don't think is fair is that the Connacht Club Champ final is fixed for January, even before Covid cancellations. Sligo Champs had 3 weeks, Mayo will have had 3 weeks. Galway the odd one out & their champ is a mess anyway with 18 senior teams, groups of 4 & 2 groups of 3 playing each other, not the teams in the group, it has been a mess a few years & probably needs to be put down to 16, but that's a matter for another day. I agree with nearly all you said still think it could be better managed look at athleagues wait. On Glaveys what chance have they got against the likes of Pearses, Brigids, Clann any time of the year. A semi final while avoiding those three teams seems to be their level. Roscommon Gaels would have more of chance, usually have competitive encounters against Pearses and reached this final by giving Brigids a good beating. Faithleachs fall into the final and will need a massive improvement to give themselves a fighting chance in the Connacht Intermediate final against the Mayo or Galway champions. In normal time Faithleachs only played well for the first 10 minutes and were the better side in extra time but needed Farnans to score a goal to wake them up. The Sligo champions to their credit came with a well organised game plan of 14 back without the ball and attacked in numbers with pace with the ball. Paddy O'Connor was the clear stand out player on show, scored 1-6 and created a number of Farnans other scores, i'd hope Roscommon do a better marking job on him in May. And I know for a fact they wouldn't have had some of the management team still been involved. They had originally stepped away when he became involved with AC and bit their lips due to covid they couldn't go stateside and rejoined the panel. They will be aged 29/28/27 next year. Last hurrah at County level as work, settling down etc takes precedence. So it's time for one last major fling at it, no more excuses, giving out about management etc just get stuck in and take advantage of the almost guaranteed last 12 place. Was at the Faithelachs match and nearly froze to death. Breeze straight down the pitch made it a game of two halves on two occasions literally. Fair summary described as above. Faithleachs played in 10/15 minute bursts and went 20 minutes and 18 minutes for two periods in normal time without scoring. They looked home and hosed after 10 minutes leading by 5 and missed a great goal chance to go 8 up which would have forced Farmans to come out of their defensive mode. Farnans had a very good centre back even though Ciaran Murtagh walked off with 1-2 and missed another 1-1 in first half of extra time. Midfielder McGee was very impressive as was Paddy O Connor up front but to be fair to the Faithelachs full back he held him well until he got sent off at end of normal time and wasn't on pitch for when O Connor took his goal very well. It actually looked a free out as Farnans picked it clean off the ground. Faithleachs would have had good grounds for complaints with referee as he was very biased towards sligo team. He wasn't even trying to hide it. I say the free count was 3:1 in Farnans favour yet the two teams tackled the same yet what was a free one way was play on the other way. The abuse Ciaran Murtagh got off the ball was outrageous and two linesmen and 4 umpires saw nothing. Baffling to say the least and not good enough at this level irrespective who you support. I would say Anthony Cunningham will be praying that Pearses will be bet Saturday otherwise he will be without 6/7 regulars for the start of the league campaign. Again Conal Kennelly caught the eye for Faithleachs a d it's amazing he hasn't been called into the county panel when you see some of the players particularly the u20s from next year that are in there. I doubt Anthony Cunningham will be praying for that, firstly he'll know its championship more than league results that will determine if he's manager again in 2023. Pearses winning on Sunday means they are into a Connacht final away to Knockmore which they could get bet in. The All Ireland semi finals are set for the the same weekend of round 1 of the NFL for Pearses players to miss at least two games they'd have to reach the All-Ireland final which is scheduled for February. Mountbellew Moylough are favourites to win on Saturday and I'd say that's probably based on the long gap from the Roscommon final and basically all momentum lost for Pearses. Have to wonder has the two week delay been a help or a hinderence to Pearses. Got to play Glaveys in the league semi final but it was a non competitive match. Their U20 players got a more useful run out and are moving well it will be interesting to see how many of them feature tomorrow. Conor Lohan should start. Halloween the county final was won for Pearses it feels ages ago, Mountbellew will know Pearses will be ring rusty and target a good start to the game.
