I think that's more or less it. Biggest problem is the amount of defenders out. As I said already a likely patched up defence, may have to do a Mcstay on it and play forwards in defence.

Best of luck to the lads that will be making their county debuts on Saturday, should be plentiful.

Will need both come the league can imagine both should feature a lot this year, Fergana is a good defender and we are short in that area as we all know and I think Ciaran needs to step and feature regularly as he has the ability to do that. Paul McGrath should feature in both FBD and league think he's a player that should have maybe seen game time last year, Richard Hughes had a good club championship is an option at half back again and Cathal Kenny has been a strong club player for a number of years having had a good underage career with Roscommon. Have we many other options in the county in the backline, David Neary, Jack Connaughton, Jack Casey, Evan McGrath, Pearce Frost Evan Flynn etc?

See the team named there, very experimental and no harm. Young Carroll from the 20s gets a chance in goals and great to see Colin Walsh at 3. Is Niall Higgins a natural corner back? Can't say I know much about McCormick from Dominic's, great to see Cunnane at midfield, if he can stay injury free he's a prospect. Sugtue also getting a chance can't say I know much about him either and McGann who has been impressive for Strokestown for a while now, should be a high scoring game if Sligo v Leitrim was anything to get by and especially with the likes of D Smith, Cox, Heneghan and Glennon. Best of luck to the Rossies tonight.

Very different team selection for tonight. Lots of new faces getting a chance to show what they are about. Hopefully we get the win and get another day out to try new players and see if they are good enough

Yes very experimental 7 that will make their county debut and the three Glaveys players haven't played that many matches over the years plus Richard Hughes, Eddie Nolan are looking to become established seniors this year

Niall Higgins wouldn't be a natural corner back but has played in defence before. Dylan Ruane was a half back for our county minor and has played as a forward since then for club and county. Mccormack was one of the stand out players in the intermediate club championship he's 24.

Touch wood that Cunnane stays injury free alright. Sugrue was a starting forward on the 2017 U17 team that won Connacht and reached the All Ireland final. McGann has been a long time waiting for that county call hopefully he grabs that opportunity with both hands tonight.

Good workout tonight using 25 players. Very accurate scoring from the forwards. Very impressive to score 3-23 while only shooting three wides. Some great long distance kickouts by Conor Carroll, and catching in the opposition half forward line by Ultan Harney (first half), Shane Cunnane and Keith Doyle (second half). This is a change from previous years where we often went short. It is great to have that option when you have a high press by the opposition. Conor and Donie looked impressive up front and Enda made a bit impact when he came on in the second half. The one concern would be allowing Sligo to score 0-21 with 0-13 coming from Niall Murphy; many from easy frees. It will be a different game next weekend against Galway but it is great to have another opportunity for the new players to put their hands up for inclusion in the league. Best of luck to Pearses tomorrow and St Faithleachs this day week (15th). Hopefully we will have three cups for the Rossies/County before the start of the league.

Comfortable 11 point win while scoring 3-23 with a side with 7 making its debut and another 5 came off the bench to do so.

Defensive with so many first choice players out we struggled especially against Niall Murphy.

I thought we were well on top in midfield 1st half with the trio Harney, Cunnane and Nolan and Sligo started to break even once the changes was made.

Walsh, McCormack was the pick of our defenders. Donie and Cox caused Sligo all type of problems. Was impressed by McGann, played a deeper role and was well involved. Two well taken goals by Enda and Ben O'Carroll.

Onto Galway next whom will be favourites to win but what's important is the upcoming NFL and having a decent panel to pick from

Full back line really struggled under high ball. Not saying it's a major problem with Walsh the only one who will make team if Pearce's get beat tomorrow. Shane Cunnane Ultan Harney impressed around midfield. Cox was brilliant as you would expect. First game out so no complaints. Thought Conor Carroll done really well for such a young goalkeeper. With the right coach he can become very good. Sligo goalkeeper was outstanding with kickouts and really hurt us at times. One step back and finding players around the middle with unbelievable accuracy. Keith Doyle isn't long back after injury but he's a player I'm excited about. If we are honest probably 5 to 7 out of that 15 might start when we have everyone back available. Its great to get another game before we play cork but the dome probably isn't the best place to find out where you are. It's probably a forwards dream like we saw tonight with some outstanding scores from both sides. Come the end of January on a soft pitch in the wind and rain we will know more but fair play to the lads a great run out

Well done to Pearses led that match all through and never looked like losing. Very controlled display county players past and present to the fore.

First senior Connacht Club title for 10 years, far too long when you consider the amount of Provincial titles Roscommon at all levels have won in that time.

Pearses deserved their win. Paul Carey was very impressive.

Ha hopefully they go well. Tbf the seem to have a committed and proud man over them. If they rumours he stepped down aren't true. As funny as it was its good to see a local man over a team with such pride. Wish them well for the year and hopefully Hagan is over them.

To the best of my knowledge, the FBD final (Roscommon v Galway) tonight will be shown live on the TG4 Sport on YouTube. There is also a deferred showing tonight on TG4 (TV) starting at 7.30. Highlights on Monday night also on TG4. Any news on the Roscommon / Galway teams yet?

Yeah great to see TG4 showing the game tonight only for them we would see a lot less football! Team names and it's a real mix again. Good to see Cunnane and Lawless get a start feel they are two players we need to give game time to. O'Malley getting his first game since FBD final 2 years ago I think? Hughes isn't a corner back as we know but we haven't much options at the minute. Haven't seen McCormack play yet but I see he used to play for Galway United, Ruane is a decent player and has a good engine. If Heneghan can stay fit he's an option, really lively. Hopefully the younger lads give a good account of themselves and a win would be nice!

Another very experimental team due to injuries and the Faithleachs, Pearses lads not involved.

Paddy O'Malley
Fergal Lennon
Colin Walsh
Richard Hughes
Ultan Harney
Eoin McCormack
Dylan Ruane
Enda Smith
Shane Cunnane
Ciaran Lawless
Andrew Glennon
Diarmuid McGann
Cathal Heneghan
Donie Smith
Conor Cox

Only Paddy O'Malley 2nd start and both in the FBD final against Galway.

Richard Hughes moved into the full back line due to the injury of Niall Higgins last week and Ultan Harney plays in the position that Hughes filled last weekend. To say we are light on defensive options would be a understatement.

Would have preferred to see the Nolan, Cunnane again with Enda in the forward line. Ciaran Lawless with his first senior start and Andrew Glennon for Sugrue the other change from last weeks starting team.

I suppose the two FBD games has served it's purpose with loads of newbies getting game time and two competitive displays.

We should have been more than 1 point in front at half time and Galway should have won that 2nd half by more than 3 points so the two point margin at the end probably about right.

Two weeks to prepare for the important Cork game hopefully a few of our injured players are available for selection then.

The very best of luck to St Faithleachs in the intermediate Connacht final tomorrow.
