With word that Cian McKeown Ciaran Murtagh and Conor Daly all rejoining the squad and hopefully a fit well rested Ben O'Carroll back that's massive for us. We should be getting promoted but division 2 next year is going to be very tricky. Do we have 4 home games or 3 home games. Id be hopeful for Keith Doyle to push on next year now with new kick out rules. Alot more kick outs will go long and he's one of the best fielders of a ball around. dave1988 (Roscommon) - Posts: 1159 - 03/11/2024 10:10:25 2578058 Link 0 |
St Brigids midfielder Eddie Nolan back also? Can see why relegation happened without 5 or 6 first choice players and did well to reach the last 8 of the championship without them.

Good to see lads back. I'd say Armagh winning the AI has made a lot of players think they have a chance in 25 whereas this time last year 2024 was seen as a 2 horse race with Derry (remember them?) as possible outsiders. Seanfanbocht (Roscommon) - Posts: 1988 - 03/11/2024 21:34:47 2578226 Link 0 |
Brilliant news that the Dermot Early Centre of Excellence has received 5.5 million under the Sport Infrastructure fund for 2024. This money is not just handed out and a lot of work has undoubtedly been carried out by Roscommon County Board / Club Rossie in making a professional application. So fair play to all involved. letsgetgoing (Roscommon) - Posts: 639 - 04/11/2024 13:38:52 2578328 Link 1 |
Great tovsee. Hopefully those soccer clubs get the money direct from Dept of Sport and not through the FAI! Seanfanbocht (Roscommon) - Posts: 1988 - 04/11/2024 14:29:48 2578336 Link 0 |
Fantastic news. When built it will take a huge burden off the county board and managers of the county teams who struggled to get pitches to train on over the last number of years.

Huge missed opportunity not putting in a full sized all weather pitch - think its a mad decision.

As in the hard the unforgiven astro turf surface? We have used the one in Creggs for our county teams and I have lost count to the amount of players that got injured using that type of surface. Pearses v Corofin on Sunday is intriguing battle, bookies and their punters have Corofin strong favourites although that was simliar last year against Brigids. Both base their game plan off a strong defensive system so will be a surprise if it's a high scoring game, getting off to a good start will be half the battle, best of luck to Pearses on Sunday The_analyser (Roscommon) - Posts: 3915 - 07/11/2024 11:04:19 2578749 Link 0 |
Any word on our provisional league fixtures?? D.Hyde (Roscommon) - Posts: 217 - 07/11/2024 12:08:54 2578763 Link 0 |
Simply not through - the level of these pitches have came on leaps and bounds in the last number of years. They are putting in two small astro pitches but they should have put in one full size one instead

Maybe we have been more unlucky than others but It's very much true on the amount of injuries we have got with our various county teams. Ask any of the players which pitch would they prefer to avoid when it comes to training. Three well drained grass pitches will be huge upgrade to what we currently have and searching and begging for a pitch to training on which includes the county minors having to use pitches outside the county will be over. And young McDermott from Castlerea isn't going back for 2025 season. He would probably have struggled for game time but disappointed he didn't give it another go.

So that's Lavin, Hussey, McCormack, Andy Glennon, Connolly and Adam McD gone?

Hadn't heard of anyone else gone 100% is mccormack definitely gone. He's a massive loss the others named above apart from mcCormack and Hussey haven't done a lot in recent years. They have all been panel players. I think he will introduce few of the u20 team to replace them lads.

2nd year in a row the Roscommon champions have beaten Corofin by a bit to spare and today in Tuam Stadium probably all the more sweeter and when you consider the silly odds on Pearses to win. The_analyser (Roscommon) - Posts: 3915 - 10/11/2024 15:15:10 2579103 Link 3 |
Adam Mcdermot was never given a proper chance under Davie. I can understand why he left, also looks that Davie doesn't rate Conor Hussey as he was always one of the 1st players to be taken off. McCormack a big loss as he had a very good season in 24. Connolly never rediscovered the form that he displayed when he 1st came into the squad. Lavin showed great commitment to the Roscommon team but like Mcdermot he wasn't going to get a chance to restore his place in the team.

Great win by Pearses today. Mighty half performance and should really have killed off the game in the 3rd quarter as they had several chances. Nice to see so many young players in their team, several of whom have the potential to step up to senior inter-county level before too long. letsgetgoing (Roscommon) - Posts: 639 - 10/11/2024 18:32:51 2579124 Link 0 |
