Congratulations to Pearses the best team on the day won.
Best match in a storm I've attended although it looked like Pearses was going to run away with it when 1-7 to 1-11 ahead. Credit to Roscommon Gaels fighting back 1-8 to 1-9 then up stepped Pearses who didn't panic and with their experience and know how on winning recent county titles they got the job done again.
Among Pearses best was Niall Daly, David Murray, Eoin Colleran. Roscommon Gaels Eoghan Carthy, John McGuinness and Purcell was their best for me.
Pearses v Corofin/Moycullen makes for a good game in a few weeks.

My yearly senior club team of the year in what was another competitive and enjoyable championship.
Paul Whelan (Pearses) - Not that many goalkeeper stood out but Paul Whelan was the best and most consistent IMO.
Shane O'Malley (Glaveys) - Impressive in all Glaveys games on route to rare semi final, good defender that will hold his own with the new rules also
James Connolly (Roscommon Gaels) Was a risk by Gaels management play a player that young in a core position in the team but he didn't disappoint, doing a good marking job on some of the best forwards in the county including the final holding Paul Carey scoreless from play.
David Murray (Pearses) Mr dependable and consistent hard to believe he's still underrated by some people.
Tim Lambe (Roscommon Gaels) his best club campagin for the Gaels, Main reason why they played in yesterdays final was because of his two great points late on in normal time v Glaveys. Has to have caught the eye of Davy Burke.
Niall Daly (Pearses) one the best club players in the county and pure leader for his side popped up with 0-6 and had to play through the pain with a foot injury. Even his 15 minute cameo v Brigids swung the game back in their favour.
Paddy Gavin (Clann) his clubs stand out player and scored impressive 3-3 from wing half back. Would like to see him get a bit more game time with the county senior in 2025.
Conor Ryan (Pearses) Stood out for Roscommon at U20 level this year and followed it up with a solid club championship himself and Mark Purcell was the two clear stand out midfielders in this championship. Good enough to be added to the senior panel for the year ahead.
Mark Purcell (Roscommon Gaels) one of the best performers on the finalists team. Scored 0-14 including a number of eye catching long range frees. Would like to see him give the senior county football a go but it appears his mind more set towards rugby.
Ryan Conlon (Ros Gaels) Another county U20 player whom stood out in the senior championship. 1-13 he scored for the Gaels all bar one point from play.
Jonthan Hussey (Faithleachs) Was Faithleachs most consistent player on their unexpected semi final appearance top scorer from play in the championship with 3-7 (16)
Declan Kenny (Pearses) played in various positions and couldn't pick a team without including him. Ended up Pearses top scorer from play with 1-8 and Hugely impressive throughout the campaign as he put his hands up for more game time for Roscommon seniors in 2025.
Rory Hester (Western Gaels) Gaels managed to stay up once again and their seasoned campaigners in Higgins,Cregg,McDermott will be delighted with that but it was one of their youngest players in Rory that was their most consistent performer and he ended up the championship joint top scorer with 0-21
Andrew Glennon (Glaveys) Played a big part in Glaveys reaching the semi final and was among the top scorers with 2-15
Paul Carey (Pearses) Paul's form seems to be difference Pearses winning or not winning the county title. Missing the early stage of the championship and hit the ground running on his return. Such a clever player and bringing others in play with his runs and strength on the ball which was especially seen on the all important goal yesterday.

Others that was in the running was Emmett Durney (Clann) who managed Roscommon minors in 2019 and 2020 and James Martin (Brigids) who was Brigids selector this year and went for the U20 job the last time also when it was given to Noel Dunning.

The jersey we had 2019,2020,2021 was worse with the Primerose and blue blend at the bottom, must have got a young child to design that? probably a new one launched before the 2025 season as we rarely have a jersey longer than three years and the current one was introduced in December 2021.

Some players might have changed to a dry jersey at half time to stop themselves from getting too cold and maybe stiffening up. I hope we see a new jersey released this year. That last one was the pits altogether. Mayo, Dublin, Kerry and even Cavan seem to change their jersey every year. That's probably a bit extreme but every two years would be acceptable. Bring back the style similar to the one worn around 1998. That was probably the nicest jersey I remember

I got my hair cut off him after we beat sligo in Connaght final in 2010 because that's when I met him in castlebar and I said if we win id go get my hair cut by him. I think it was a couple of weeks later but I made my way from Boyle to Roscommon and it was worth it. His passion was unbelievable. I met him many times since and all I can say is best of luck and we will see you in the Hyde

That compares for example with 41 for Mayo. We of course have the distinction of never losing an All Ireland minor football final winning titles in 1939, 1941, 1951 and 2006. Any Roscommon minor Manager who wins Connacht is a successful manager and Emmett Durney won Connacht. Boyle got to county finals in 2022 and 2023 losing by a point each time. This year Boyle lost out in a quarter final. Boyle have a lot of county players and certainly might have hoped to go beyond a quarter this year. If all had been available to Roscommon this season, Enda Smith, Daire Cregg, Donie Smith and Cian McKeon would have started for Ros. Any club team featuring four county starters should be serious contenders in the club championship. The U20 grade is very important at inter county as a stepping stone to senior. Best of luck to Cian Smith and the players next season.
