Very positive first half from Roscommon with McKeon and Eddie Nolan in particular in excellent form. Couple of goal chances that could have been converted on another day but hopefully we'll not regret not taking those and push on in the second half and claim another 2 points.

Excellent win. Everyone played well. Have we finally found a midfield? Both were Excellent again.

Comfortable win, contest over at half time. Stack, Nolan, Harney,E Smith, C McKeon among the stand outs in a good team performance.

Hard luck to the U20s who lost by 4 points to Donegal. Lots of improvement required before the April championship and hopefully the injury list is mostly cleared by then.

Definitely the best midfield combo we've seen in a while. That was the best I've seen Nolan play and the best Harney has played in a long time. They both have great mobility and can make a pass and take a score too. Great to see. Lavin pulled off a couple of great saves too it has to be said. Great to see Ronan Daly back and he put in a great shift. Ciaran Murtagh saw plenty of ball too but is not near at his sharpest at the min so hopefully he'll improve too as the year goes on. Subs all done well when they came in too

Good win up in Newry and Ross did what they had to do but has to be taken into context the opposition when you see the meath v offaly result earlier today. Meath scraped a draw in final play when their full back found the net. Meath drew with Down last week who didn't score in 2nd half.

Ross might have added to their scoring average. Galway almost matched their winning margin in Cork but scored 3-22. Fair chance three teams could end up on 10pts and scoring average would then decide it. The mini league within the group of Ross, Galway and Derry will decide it.

Was at Ross u20 match today in Castlerea on the 2nd pitch. Very narrow and tight which Donegal won by 2-9 to 11pts. Thought Ross did well and a big improvement on last week again which is always a good sign. 9 changes to the team that started v Mayo last week also. Missed a lot of chances particularly in first half also. Jamesie Green caught the eye in midfield as did Oisin Cregg at centre back. Conor Hand and Cathal Feeley also did qell as did Paddy Gavin whe he came on. Derry beat Mayo in other match. An evenly matched group even allowing for Donegal hammering Derry last week.

I think it's head to head results first if there's a tie Smokie. Saw that on Wikipedia so can't say that's for real.

Heaf to head is only if 2 teams level.
3 teams level = score difference.
Good performance in Newry allowing for Down being poor enough.
Now for the first big test of the year v Derry.
Hard luck u20s but good to hear of an improved showing.
Gavin is one v good footballer.

Apologies, you're right, only a 3 way tie for score difference. Ye'll be Derry's first test too. I think yerselves and Galway will beat them. They look impressive so far but not been put to the pin of their collar yet.

Derry giving Clare a good batin, a team we could only draw with at home.

Derry beating Clare in Ennis shows the big challenge and step up in opposition for us in two weeks in Hyde Park.

I know it looks and it is a fantastic result for Derry in Ennis but playing football today compared to 7 days ago was like playing two different sports.

Today was day and warm and a perfect day for football with little or no breeze along with pitches that have dried immensely during the week. Last week was cold with storm winds after a week of rain and storms.

There is no doubt it will be a huge battle in two weeks but Roscommon's experience of top level football in past 5 seasons may prove decisive. Derry are a coming team after a period of decline.

Was at the game in the Hyde today. Match played in another strong wind and Mayo playing against it managed it very well with their running game and ability to turn Armagh over at will in the final 10 minutes.

Might not be stormy weather but I'll be surprised if the Hyde doesn't have a strong wind for the Derry game.

U20s beaten 2-18 to 1-16. Started with 10 changes from last weekend and finished the game with a much stronger team.

We were the better team for the opening 15 minutes and the 2nd half. Lost be because of the purble patch in the last 10 minutes 2nd half and gifting soft goals second half. Good to see a few starters return from injury a lot of work needs to done defensively and goalkeeping before the championship.

Very enjoyable match today in Hyde for u20s. Looked to be experimental job on both sides. Derry appeared to have a small panel with them while roscommon started with a team that had only 5 players starting from last weekend v Donegal. Obviously both sides agreed to unlimited substitutes.

Darren Gately looked good on loose ball in first half along with Mark Watson first 20 mins and Cathal Feely. Paddy Gavin his busy self.

Few obvious issues with midfield, centre back and full back and goalkeeper. It's obvious its not as strong as team as last year and a few injuries to some of last years panel has led to some obvious weakness in panel as well. Its also a very small team compared to other teams and that will be a major disadvantage.

Galway the favourites for connacht title and not much to choose from between Mayo, Roscommon amd Sligo. Leitrim could struggle this year.

What are we thinking for the weekend think its going to be very tight. i would worry about Derrys power around the middle will we have enough to stop that.

Have we a full hand to choose from>?

Very tough encounter ahead against a side scoring freely and giving very little scores away at the other end. They will bring high work rate and intensity something we must match.

In order to win we'll have to produce our best performance of the year thus far. Need to be disciplined in tackle as McGuigan is a very accurate free taker. In Glass, Bradley are arguably the best midfield pairing in this division. Their speed and kick passing will be suited to the fast Hyde Park surface.
