Replying To TheBishop:  "Depends on what team Galway put out, beating Mayo is of more more importance to Joyce then it is beating Roscommon. in this FBD campaign."
Joyce aim is to win another FBD title, picked a strong team for the 2020 FBD final against Roscommon and won it and will do likewise here

Replying To TheBishop:  "As for Galway they need 4 or 5 players to put their hand up and cement their places in the starting 15.

As it stands you'd only say Kelly, Heaney, John Daly, Conroy, Tierney, Walsh & Comer are certs to start when everyone is fit. Thats only 7 players, compare that to any of the top teams and they have about 11/12 guaranteed starters."
It will be 11/12 for Galway under Joyce also with Silke, The other Kelly, R Finnerty, Sweeney and McDaid starting any important NFL or championship game when they are available for selection.

Now is the time to have a look at fellas, I would expect changes"
I'm a firm believer in momentum myself so I dont think an opportunity to win should be sacrificed by trying out too many at the one team. I would like to see the likes of John Daly ( no intercounty football for over a year) Sean Kelly, Sean Mulkerrins getting a run out to see what shape they're in

Who are the best players not currently available to the Galway footballers? Players would would make the match day 26 or even the starting 15.

I agree with you but if you think the last couple of years Paul Kelly started his first game Connacht Final 2020 and Cathal Sweeney starting his first game Connacht Final 2021.

We also had the farcical situation of Mike Farragher coming on in the Connacht Final.(What message does that send to the other subs). Sean Kelly and Shane Walsh going off injured and most of the lads blowing by half time, we needed a panel.

Now is the time to build a panel.

Full 39 man panel on back page of Herald this week. Notable names not on it are Tom Flynn and Eamon Brannigan. Great to see John Daly back.

Just watching the NUIG Sigerson game and Sean Mulkerrin looks like he has a bad injury. Was down for ages holding his knee and looked to be in a fair bit of pain.

Bad injury for Mulkerrin tonight in Sigerson. Looked like a cruciate.

Does anyone have a link to the article or could post the panel here?

I can't find it online.

A dislocation of some sort more likely I'd say when they didn't want to move him.

That's Jack Glynn and Mulkerrin going off injured in the space of a few days, 2 probable starters in the FB line. This is why we need to build a panel.

Sean Kelly was different class when he came on last night. Was also very impressed with Gavin Burke and Cathal Sweeney when he was introduced.
Matthew Tierney seemed to struggle as Thomas Galligan was cleaning up around the middle. I think Tierney will end up in the forwards.

Hope he recovers fully. Knee problems can be tricky in the long term.
He will be a big loss to us. Full back line and midfield we are not blessed with options in,

Hopefully it is only a dislocation. Maurice Sheridan didn't sound too positive afterwards. Overshadowed what was an excellent goal from Sean Kelly.

Tierney is an excellent footballer, but I agree that midfield isn't his best position. He's a very good kicker of the ball and is good at winning his own ball inside. However, he's not most mobile or pacey player and I don't think he has the engine needed to track up and down the pitch for much of a game. I don't think we get the best out of him at midfield.
Hoping of course that Mulkerrin's injury is not as bad as it looked.

Gavin Burke was excellent in possession but I'd be worried about some of his defending if he's looking to step up to the next level, full backline in the first half really struggled. Looked like the other midfield was marking Galligan, he looked really out of his depth and think Sean Kelly replaced him in first half.

The 4 subs made a huge difference, NUIG were totally dominant during that 2nd half. Looking forward to seeing more of Sweeney, hoping he'll nail down a place in the starting 15 during the league. Sean Kelly can play anywhere, brilliant footballer, hope we find a few more like him.
