So who would be the best candidate to replace Cian O'Neill,
What names will be in the shake up for it?

Replying To Mayonman:  "Thanks to Cian O'Neill. Nice guy and was all in as Galway coach. We were a shambles defensively before his arrival.

Who will replace him? Dave Morris seems to be hugely rated. Would be nice to tie it down quickly."
Looks like he's in with the hurlers. Big loss not having his knowledge available to footballers.

Will be played on Thursday night if a team with a hurling commitment. Otherwise it'll be on that weekend.

Replying To backtooldwall:  "What is the parish rule? Is it the civil parish or a particular religious denomination, civil and religious are vastly different in size as are the varying denominations.Players playing for teams outside their area is a long standing tradition in Galway football, the 56 team had a few outsiders in it' ranks and the 3 in row team had players from outside counties and other areas within the county playing other than their home area clubs who invariably were the strongest clubs at the time.Saying these were living the area concerned doesn't pass the smell test every time. The situation today is broadly in line with the past. the only difference is the club names. Information technology is the greatest difference, making all facts and rumours available to a much bigger audience."
When Gaa was founded the parish rule followed the Catholic Church parish boundaries that were in place.

I would like if Dave Morris got involved in the coaching set up I definitely think he would have a lot to offer id imagine Padraig must have someone lined up goung on past record it prob be ex team mate or close friend ,, cian o Neill definitely help improve Galway he has being with a good few teams and so far none have claimed the big prize ,, hopefully whoever Galway get will help improve the attacking part of game and maybe even try play forwards in forwards,, and not load the subs bench with defenders

That's not true. He was in with Kerry when they won in 2014 and with the Tipp hurlers when they stopped Kilkenny's drive for five in 2010.
He did a lot of great with Galway and definitely needs to be replaced with a top quality coach.

I hear what you say, pitches also had four goalposts at each end and no crossbar and teams were comprised of 21 a side who played with an oval football and one goal beat any amount of points back then. Why are only some of the founding set of rules permanently baked in and not others? Stating what was in place in 1984 takes no account of the Association, society or church structures of today as parishes population and life style are all vastly different.I don't see todays default situation that has evolved over the last half century or more as ideal but it needs to be addressed in a logical way with clear agreed structures.Ignoring or complaining is no to advantage to any part of the Association.

Replying To LottoPlus:  "I dont think that Annaghdown will beat Salthill but what annoys me about Salthill, Moycullen etc is that they get players in from outside. They can field 3 teams in every age group yet they have to rely on outside players. CG (my own parish) did something similar a few years ago (with James Nallen etc) and it was not good for the club. The new Salthill Goalie ( a Limerick man) replacing another goalie who was also from outside "the parish" and the full back is now from Roscommon. Eoin Gallagher going into Moycullen like FFS. People criticise Dublin clubs but Salthill, Moycullen, St James are no better. At lease Claregalway, Annaghdown, Dunmore etc are all from their own parish. So much for being born into the parish you play football/Hurling for. So are the Big three real teams or are the bought in teams. For all the Salthill lads who say they live in the parish, they dont. I know of one player who lives in Castlelawn heights. That is Eire Og. I would love to see Annaghdown, Dunmore, Milltown, Caherlistrane etc clubs with players from the parish alone but that wont happen.......... this year anyway. I was going to mention Corofin but they also had Mike Lundy from James."
Owen gallagher has been living in Galway for 9 years, and Maigh Cuillin for 7 years now, he was on the Maigh Cuillin 2020 team. It's getting ridiculous people not accepting anyone who wasn't born there.

He moved down to Moycullen in 2015, and he was a big influence in the 2019/2002 championship for Maigh Cuillin - it's fairly straightforward to Google it. He also played for Galway.

As I said Galway probably have the stronger first 15 and Armagh have the stronger squad. Very little between the teams overall as I keep saying but you take whatever bits suit your argument if thats what makes you feel better.

My argument as it always has been is noone outside Galway or the national media thought Galway were way ahead of Armagh or were shocked Armagh won. I don't know why the Galway crowd thought different.

No one was shocked. Galway's freetaking was shocking from my perspective, and costly on the day.

If Dessie dolan is going be a forward coach does thar mean for next year Galway will play forwards in forwards what will Joyce do with all the defenders on the panel ,,, it be very unusual for Joyce to bring a friend of his onto the management set up ,,,,,,

That's a strange appointment from the little I hear from living in the Athlone area. From a football point of view and would be a strange character personally.
