RTÉ only have the two Sunday games and with Louth Donegal almost certain for Sunday they will push for the Dublin game to be Sunday as well. That Louth Donegal game is the worst on paper so they would need the best game on Sunday which is probably Galway Dublin."
Dublin/Galway almost certain to be Saturday as Louth and Derry have good cases for the extra day. Be very surprised if otherwise,

Would love to see ye beat the Dubs lads. I think Injuries have killed ye all year.

I think whatever chance ye have, Comer has to start. Presuming he will be ok after playing the last day?

I presume Joyces target is to get back to an All Ireland final. So if Galway wanted to win one they probably would have had to face the Dubs at some point. I think ye have a better chance of taking them down before a final. The one disadvantage of course is the short turn around after the prelim. Plenty of weaknesses in that Dublin back line and ye have the forwards to give them plenty of bother. Ye also have a very tight and organised defence.

Agree totally with jahTribe, forget about Armagh result and what could have been, less pressure playing one of the big teams, and don't undermine players selected by talking about one's out injured, take your opportunity and just go for it, cause the upset that nobody believes is possible, BUT it won't happen by being overly cautious, defensive-minded and playing with fear. I know Mayo are out but see the way they take the dubs on.... no fear. Good Luck Galway, hope ye do it

Galway should get Sunday, 2 undefeated Provincial Champions go at it. Proper order.
Not fair on Derry/Louth? They lost 5 games between them. Give me a break Galway had a 6 day turnaround after draw with Armagh.

Very hard to see us beating the Dubs. 3rd week out in a row. The Dubs have had a rest. And a number of big Galway players still carrying various knocks and niggles. Throwing the Armagh game away again looking like it'll prove very costly. Hopefully we get a performance anyway.

Galway's record versus Dublin in championship is not one to instil confidence but each game is a life in itself and I'd hope this team are the one to start a new chapter.The team have to arrive with their "A" game which has not been seen this year so far. our ball winners in middle Conroy ,Tierney ,Maher must be at their best and Kelly will be essential in this outer defensive organising role he seems to have been assigned to this year.The forwards must test the opposition defence any time they get a one on one situation rather than recycling all the time.I would give Galway a reasonable chance if they achieve these aims and there are no goalmouth or kick out cockup's.Here"s hoping.

Short straw draw for Galway. Of the rest teams to get Dublin are the worst. Kerry hadn't been test and might have been under cooked, Donegal decent but beatable. Dublin back in Croke Park knock out football and two week to prepare. Just need to be as competitive as possible and then see where that takes Galway.

Dublin have the best midfielder in the game & up there with the best player in the game too. Everything starts with Fenton. So even if their defence has "plenty of weakness" as you say which i don't believe it does, they will just simply outscore you.

I didn't mention whether it was fair!

They will both ask - on reasonable grounds lets be honest - for an extra day - and can't see any of the four Saturday teams then raising much of an objection.

Unfortunately that means not being able to see Kerry/Derry on same bill I would say.

They do but Mayo tied him up for the most part. The Dublin full back line was under pressure in both the Roscommon and Mayo games at times. Galway have one of the meanest defences in the country. No team has scored more than 15 points against them and the only goal they conceded was from a howler of a kick out against Armagh. Dublin will most definitely cough up goal chances and if Comer is fit will cause Dublin problems. I agree Dublin will definitely try to out-score you, and as proved the last day, even if you mark Con tightly someone else will step up and get the scores.

With all these injuries questions have to be asked of medical S&C team? I know injuries happen but the amount of inj we have had is ridiculous.

Always hard to beat the Dubs, but full-strength Galway can be a match for anyone.

Wonder how Walsh will be? Saw Joyce wasn't pulling any punches about his performance before he got injured.

If Damo had no set back from Saturdays 25 minute cameo, I would assume he starts.

Hoping we are playing Sunday. Extra days recovery for the lads is important.

I think we will put it up to Dublin, but Comer is hugely important. As a team, we get our scores so much easier when he is on the field. Others get extra space.

We will also need to take our goal chances.

These are not the Dublin team of a few years ago, but they are still probably No1 in the country. But not by as much, and they are beatable.

Mayo showed that Dublin can be got two weeks ago, and Galway are a much better team. Galway are plenty good enough and we go for goals.

My prediction would be 2 goals for Galway - both Comer and Sean Kelly get goals. Sean Kelly is lethal when he gets going.

We can do this.

When I first saw the draw my immediate reaction was that we're goosed, not a chance. But when you think about what Mayo did v Dublin, albeit not in Croke Park, you'd have to have some hope. There are obviously critical match ups we'll have to somehow win, where we need to try and 'hammer the hammer'.
The great Fenton is the fulcrum of everything good the Dubs do, but look at the job Donnchadh McHugh did on him. It's doable. This machine can be marshalled. It is actually possible! The next hammer to hammer, if it's at all possible, is Con O'Callaghan. Again, you have to study the Mayo template here - David McBrien did a great job on him. I'd be hoping we'll give good match ups and battles with Basquel and Paddy Small. I'd be concerned about CHB and trying to marshall Cormac Costello, who's on fire these days. Niall Scully and even Ciarán Kilkenny are markable, but we'll need to be able to go toe to toe and field with Kilkenny, who has springs in his heels. Scully, Small and Costello can cross, overlap and shoot from very long range, so that source of scores for them will take monstrous workrate to stop. McCaffrey and Mannion will come in with the pace injection, so we'll need gazelles ready to counter that!
At the other end, we have to do something different to upset this super slick defensive machine they have and I think it's a case of getting ball clean over Howard, J Small and Bugler and raining in some early ball on that full back line and keeper. Ryan O'Donoghue is no giant and he was able to catch ball over Mick Fitzsimons. Yes, Fitzsimons is headed for legendary status but who has really tested him recently with a proper aerial bombardment? (Easier said than done, I know, but we can surely leather the damn ball in from time to time onto our key target men). Murchan, McMahon and Cluxton categorically do not like high ball going in on top of them. Yes, they'll counter some of it but not all of it. As good as any team is, they will not win every high ball in. We have to take some risks going forward and try this because if we go into predictable, ponderous, lateral build up stuff, they are simply better at it and will beat us. So let's not play that game for too long. What they don't like is chaos, a rabid dog fight, with unpredictable build up, challenging and dangerous ball going in on our bigger men. They're only partly set up for that. Dub lads I know, know this themselves. Let's test it.
