Replying To togoutlads:  "A hard won victory and fair play to players and management for doing the business up there, especially after all Armagh's rousing talk of getting us back for last year etc.
After Rafferty's parading up the field all evening, with the fist in the air signalling while he carried the ball a couple of times, it was nice to see Tierney's fist in the air putting the ball past Rafferty into the net! A great win."
Good win for you last night 'up here' but I haven't a clue what you're talking about in terms of rousing talk etc - we have been desperate this year and most of us fully expected a defeat last night. We have no grudge against Galway - you're a great team so your post is pretty ignorant.

Replying To ahsure.:  "A great win. Big mentality.

They love Rafferty up there, but he offered nothing."
Fake news. Our hearts are in our mouths every time Rafferty leaves his box. Good win last night and good luck for the rest of the year.

Replying To foreveryoung:  "Galway has always been a fine footballing county and I praise it whenever appropriate. Even last year I was hoping ye'd win Sam on AI final day.

But the question is: what are you doing on here? Surely, it is not possible for you to know less about football than you do about hurling? Then again, it's you Tommeen, so…"
I don't know anything about baseball but I do like American football and basketball youngeen - surely these are yankee sports that you must be somewhat knowledgeable about seeing as you know nothing about GAA! lol

Great win for Galway. Next up Kerry. Come on Galway!

So even a draw will be enough to make the final.
If I'm not mistaken, there's also a possibility of making the final if losing by 1/2 points.
It's likely to be at least a three way tie on 8 points if Roscommon/Tyrone win, so a 1/2 point loss would keep us ahead of Kerry and only a small win for Roscommon/Tyrone would also see them stay behind on points difference.

I have to say that I am not a fan of goalies coming out the field and I love to see it when they get caught out. However I have to say that I really admire Rafferty. He is a beautiful mover with the ball and seems as comfortable on the ball as any marquee player. You say that your hearts are in your mouths when he leaves the box but how do you think we feel when our man goes rambling? It is probably the definition of pure terror. Any way hard luck on last evenings result I still dont know how we got out of there with the win. I thought ye sat back a bit in the first ten minutes of the second half and that allowed us to get a foot hold in the game. If either of us are to win the All Ireland we will probably be meeting again in the year.

Replying To smallfrank:  "There looks to be serious competition for places now which is good.
In defence, I would have Daly, S Kelly and McHugh as definite with the other 3 from Glynn, McGrath, Fitzgerald, Hernon, E Kelly, O'Flaherty and potentially Molloy.

Up front, Comer, Walsh, Heaney, Tierney as definite with 2 from Culhane, PKelly, R Finnerty, Burke, Sweeney.

In the middle then 2 from Cooke, Conroy, Maher, McDaid, Paul Kelly

I wouldn't bother picking my 15 as most of the above have been good at different stages. Great problem to have when 4 weeks ago all the talk was about the players missing."
Serious options emerging. I think Glynn corner back and Finnerty corner forward are definite starters also

We definitely seem to sit back when a game is for the taking. Galway were poor last night and you have a bunch of key men out and still got the points - I think you'll definitely be in the mix again this year - I think we might be able to take a scalp but we don't have enough quality to compete at the very top.

Jack Glynn is a nailed on starter if fit..
We do now have plenty of options in all positions but I wonder should should Power get the game v Kerry.
You'd imagine he deserves some game time as I'd say every other player in the panel got time in the league.
Well done Tomo yesterday as well, showed really well up front.

Ye don't have the Manager to compete at the very top.

Well he did get Galway to an AI Final and Galway were in that game until the last 10 mins so how much more "at the very top" do you need to be outside of winning an AI!?

Does anyone know how serious John Daly's injury is as we definitely can't afford to lose him along with Silke and Molloy this year?

Yeah agree with that. Power should be given a game.
They are not going to drop Gleeson for championship now it seems (although on the flip side he only came into the team late last year when Flaherty got injured in the league final).
But the other keeper should be given some game time. If Gleeson gets injured, he will have had no game at all bar the FBD.

You'd have to wonder... What does Gleeson have to do to get dropped.

Armagh last year, Kerry, Intermediate County Final, another bad mistake v ballyhaunis or dominics... Armagh yet again.

Is there many good club keepers in Galway. Galway have a good team but the keeper situation would need to be sorted

Good question. It's been a problem position for us for a long time.
We haven't had a truly reliable keeper for an eternity.

He could not be any worse than the incumbent.
