Replying To Pope_Benedict:  "Name a 'fantastic' Galway hurler who didn't win a thing?"
Cloonan, Broderick, O Canning, Cathal Moore, the majority of the cooney family. Will I keep going?

You'd want to calm down. You can be fairly sure this will come back to bite you over the next two months.

Are you saying that not winning an all-ireland intercounty senior hurling championship equates to 'not winning a thing'?

I'd say that's fairly obvious, unless you count connaught final farces.

Silly argument so. Shure Cody won 11 out of 16 when those lads played, and only Cork and Tipp 'won anything' otherwise. Ollie Canning aside, it's debatable how 'fantastic' the rest of those listed players were anyway.

What Cooney family? Jimmy Joe and Joe Jnr won 'something'. The rest of them didn't play for Galway, or if they did, certainly weren't fantastic. Cathal Moore wasn't 'fantastic'. Neither was Cloonan at the highest level. Broderick was special alright, and was denied his day in 2001, due to biased refereeing arguably.

Galway may be rebuilding but I think you'll be very good this year. I expect you'll definitely be in Leinster's top 3."
I wish I could agree with you but I just can't see it. I hope I'm wrong.

Replying To jm25:  "That's true I'm afraid probably we are at our lowest in over 20 years.

There are lads on panel 5 plus yrs and arnt good enough to start but still good enough for panel

I find it hard to justify starting niland don't think he touched ball in play in first 30 minutes

I sometimes think Flynn should get a run of games in FF line he has loads of talent but seems quite fragile when things go wrong.

Last night was no surprise Cork are way down road and between them and limerick you'd except them to share all Irelands over next 4 5 years.

I got flashbacks of 2021 u17 and u20 all Ireland's one weekend where cork massacred us in both"
Jason Flynn in the full forward line will make any difference at all. He has been on that panel over a decade and has never ever managed to nail down a starting spot.

The aim for this year should be to develop 4 or 5 more so that we are in a position to challenge in years ahead. It would be some turn around if we were in the real shake up this year. I'd start 3 of your 5 and use Cooney and Flynn as impact subs when the team needs an impact. Concannon although he had a bad night last night will be well in the mix also when he gets a bit fitter.
Fahy,
Take your pick from Grealish, Ryan(decent last night) Loftus
Probably Daithi over Fintan
Morrissey
Mannion
Lee
Probably Morgan but Garvey, Glennon and maybe Linnane in the mix here.
Fahy
Monaghan with David Burke to come in for either when needed
Mannion swapping in and out with Monaghan
Killeen
Whelan
Concannon
Kevin Cooney
Niland( his Free's are gold and he picks up a few from play.
The likes of Rory Burke, Burns, McLaughlin, Collins, Molloy have to be given decent minutes or else we will have nothing when Mannion and Whelan go

I understand We have to blood new young players but after 6 League games I haven't seen many...it was the experienced players that got the scores v Cork.
Fahy, Grealish, D. Burke, Ryan, P Mannion, Lee, Garvey, Fahy,Linnane, C Mannion, E Niland, J Flynn, B Concannon, C Cooney, C Whelan

You'd know all about farcical championships, having to look at the Leinster football championship for the last 20 years or so.

You shouldn't even have been playing Tipp in that final in 01.

Hayes and Ollie Canning spring to mind straight away as 2 lads that deserved to win celtic crosses but didn't.

Two is a fairly lame volume for a county that is allegedly prodigious in this field. You'd imagine every hurling county in Ireland could name two.

I'm sure you would have more? They're the 1st 2 names which jumped into my head.

Phew.......thank goodness for that. I thought you'd be on here to say we were favourites for the all--ireland, but destined once again to underachieve, and not live up to your perennial lofty expectations.

How do you make that out. Galway roundly beat Kilkenny in 2001. If any of the sides contesting that Final should not have been there it was Tipp. They benefited from very poor Reffing decisions at the death, against both Wexford, the first day, and Limerick in the Munster Final.

That was the point I was making. It should of been us they were playing in the 01 final.
