Well done to Fethard and Adamstown on making Leinster semi finals, Fethard will have a derby of sorts playing Mullinavat, Kilkenny Senior champions and made leinster final in 2019, anyone thinking they'll be a soft touch based on their county and its relationship with football will be greatly mistaken, big good counsel crossover between the 2 teams.

Think 5 of this year's GC football starters are from Kilkenny and a 6th came on as sub. And was always the way.

See portarlington dismantled palatine . Thought Castletown were very unlucky v them last day .
What with both fethard snd adamstown both progressing to leinster finals . Maybe our club scene is a bit more competitive than we give it credit for .
Not saying we ate contenders but better thsn also rans .
Hopefully next week the hurling leinter club will be a fruitful one for Horeswood , Oulart and especially Ferns . Who partake in their first ever senior campaign .

Ferns won't beat St Mullins. The other two would expect see them win.

Might do. St Mullins are going very well this year ok but aren't unbeatable if Ferns play up to their highest level.

I'd agree with this, in general our senior champions Oulart aside have performed poorly enough over the years in Leinster. In Intermediate I'd say it's a good chance it will be a Oulart/Danesfort Leinster final now that Naas are at senior.

I'd say Ferns v St Mullins is 50/50. I heard that both have played Oulart recently; Ferns lost by 3 and St Mullins lost by 10. Wouldn't want to take those results that seriously though, think both Ferns and St Mullins didn't have their best XVs out on the field. Ferns also seemingly got hockeyed by Ballygunner but so would most county champions bar Na Piarsaigh and Ballyhale.

Yeah heard Mullins and Ferns both got well beaten by Ballygunner in challenge games, winner gets to play in croke park so I'm sure that's a big motivation.

Surely a win against St mullins the Carlow champs would be at worst an expectation i know very little about carlow club hurling only rhere are only 5 senior teams tbf only if we want to progress as a county we surely must be beatumg the Carlow champs .
Why so pessimistic about it bookies have st mullins 4/6 fav so maybe I m looking through rose tinted glasses .
I know mount leinster rangers beat oulart in leinster final years back but I d have backed oulart 9 times out of 10 to beat them . I think the only reason ferms may not win is the fact its unknown territory for them but they certainly impressed me this year and were worthy champs albeit 5 or 6 years after they should have won it
Ballygunner did nt seem to suffer too bad having finished their co championship on Sept 11th . So we can't be making excuses of long lay off fir ferns who were playing football championship since hurling win and have had 4 weeks uninterrupted hurling since their exit . Surely championship games wete better prep regardless of code .
I d have expected Castletown to beat carlow champs in football buy yet we don't have confidence in our hurling champs .

Very few hurling clubs in Carlow so all the talent tends to be very concentrated. It basically means that their clubs tend to be quite good. Plus you have to remember that St Mullins got to a Leinster Final in 2019, beating Cuala and Rathdowney on the way

There's no outstanding team or even 2 or 3 teams in Wexford at the moment, in my opinion 7 out the 8 quarter finalists in Wexford this year were pretty much at the same level, it was just a matter of who turned up on the day bit of luck etc. that makes for an exciting county championship but not for a strong showing in the provincial championship, St Mullins and Mount Leinster Rangers are 2 the best teams by a long way in Carlow, both would be contenders in the Wexford championship, a strong club team doesn't necessarily have a impact at county level, for example i don't think the Dublin county team saw any positive impact for Cuala's 2 All Ireland's in 2017&18.

Yeah, Carlow teams have performed well in Leinster in recent years. St. Mullin's beat Cuala in 2019, not long after Cuala had won a couple of All-Irelands. No provincial championship in 2020, but last year, Mount Leinster Rangers gave Ballyhale a real ratttle, and if memory serves me correctly, had a great goal chance to level things up with about five minutes to go.

It's definitely not a case of "a Wexford team should surely beat a Carlow team". I reckon Sunday's match is a real 50-50 affair.

If anything recent history would suggest it's probably more 60-40 or 70-30 in St Mullins favor. The Carlow clubs performances in recent times are far more impressive. I don't think we've had a big club win since 2015 and had some rough days since Oulart finally got over the line (and should've beaten Na Piarsaigh in that 2016 All Ireland semi final too) I know it's not the be all and end all but still like to see a Wexford club go deep in the competition, we've a very proud record in leinster.

MLR have won Leinster. Just because Carlow have less Senior clubs it doesn't mean they are any worse at hurling. I wouldn't be at all surprised if St Mullins win. I obviously hope Ferns win a real tough game it would stand to them going forwards.

Don't think it's been a major impact but we've got an awful lot of away draws the last few years, Ferns are in Carlow on Sunday, Rapps had to play Clough Ballycolla in Portlaoise last year, in 2019 Martins got Ballyhale in Nowlan Park, 18 Gorey got Camross in Portlaoise but did play Ballyhale in Wexford Park, in 17 Martins played Cuala in Parnell Park, on that heard Sunday was Ballygunner's 7th home game out of 9 in Munster semi finals and 1st rounds, Munster Finals then at netural venues.

Did Ballygunner put 50 odd points up in a game v Ferns recently?

I ve no idea tbh I d imagine they could do that on any given day to a lot of club teams .
Say serious competition fur places on their team and would nt take the good off the pedal for that reason .
I take it most people on here din t fznvy their chances v st mullins never mind ballyhale or kilmacud.
With debate on hurling football club champ structure.
If we don't believe we cant contest at provincial level maybe uts time to step away from it as such. And let the county championships take priority .
Possibly nominate a club to take part in provincial if championships not completed by a team that's been eliminated. Be it junior senior or intermediate. Allowing for breaks in between some games. Longer championship and not as condensed.
