Tyrone Vs Kerry Without COVID Talk

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Posted twice but didn't get through, anyway, everything that has to be said has been said so I won't go over it all again except for a couple of pointers like, -

I can't say at any stage through the game that I thought Kerry were going to win even though at the end of normal time the sides were level, 5 points down in extra time and they were only beaten by a point but they were still beaten.
Tyrone had two players black carded at different times but Kerry couldn't capitalize on that. In some ways Tyrone's performance against Kerry was a carbon copy of Mayo's performance against Dublin that brought tenacity, commitment, stubbornness and total unity. I got the impression that Tyrone went into the Kerry game with the same non favorite tag as Mayo had against the Dub's

In my own humble opinion over the past 2 years Mayo have been the No. 2 county senior team in the country they were the first county at senior level to stop the unbeatable Dub's from going on to win 7 in a row against all the odds let it be said that won them a place in the All Ireland final.

With all that said I now see and freely admit that Tyrone can go on and win the All Ireland senior football championship 2021. I wish Mayo well but I simply can't see them breaking down Tyrone like they did with Dublin, along with that the extra free time that Kerry had didn't do them any favors, the same thing may very well not favor Mayo. Tyrone have been tried and tested at the highest level against including against favorites Kerry. Mayo beat Galway and 6 time champions Dublin.

As far as I know Peter Kean's term expires at the end of this season, he may or may not be given the option to stay on as Kerry manage but he won't be pushed and neither should he be, he will be allowed to walk away himself.

Replying To Dermoot:  "Unbelievable fight, heart and energy from Tyrone yesterday. Did their best to lose it with the keep ball tactics though, should have went for the jugular when they went 5 up in extra time, Kerry were shell shocked.

Plus all the big moments went in Tyrone's favour. Kerry f'd up the goal chance in first half, if that had been scored, different game. 2 of Tyrone's goals were fortunate too.

Saying that Tyrone won while getting destroyed on the kickouts, missed loads of handy point scoring opportunities and had Morgan kicking frees and 45's still, 7 years on with a success ratio below 20%. Kick them short and work a better opportunity.

Good to have loads to improve on going into All-Ireland final. Mayo always have Tyrone's number bar 2008 qualifier in Croker that Tyrone scraped through with a point to spare. Should be another close one, hopefully Tyrone come out the right side.

And will be great first couple of weeks back at school for kids with the big build up, great having it to look forward to."
Couldn't believe it myself that Tyrone dropped off so much after the goal, probably 2nd nature after so long with Mikey having them play that way. Didn't look as if they were dead on their feet compared to some of the Kerry players who were goin' down all over the place.
IMO Kerry have too many "similar" type players, Whyte, Moynihan, O'Brien, younger Clifford even O'Shea, all love to carry the ball but no composure when they need to shoot or pick out a pass under pressure. The number of under-hit passes and bad shooting options was quite something.
Players off the bench had no affect at all for Kerry. Tyrone's subs on the other hand definitely knew where the posts were. Over the last few years, we've gotten used to the Dubs bringin' on the cavalry in the 2nd half and Tyrone certainly had that on Sat.
Tyrone, while they made lots of mistakes, had a much better balance and were able to play the game for long periods on their terms. Felt they got their scores easier when they decided to go for it. Which brings us back to them dropping off so much after the last goal. Could have hosed Kerry completely if they had gone for it. Don't blame them for the way they saw out the game but it's playin' with fire.
Congrats to both Tyrone and Kerry for providing such a spectacle after the extended break. Game of the year without a doubt, not the best quality at times, but OMG you could feel the tension.
Best of luck to Tyrone and Mayo in the final and may the best team win.
