Which indeed was that it was designed to punish "professional fouls" on players who looked like they were either going to score themselves or to give an assist, or be on end of one.

So in that sense, handing them out in the other team's half is stretching the thing to its limit.

Cavanagh was hard to listen to yesterday, this us against the world mentality from the offset is getting boring now from Tyrone, I actually have a great amount of respect for Tyrone and was rooting for them yesterday as i will be when they face our neighbours.
The black cards were absolute black cards and no one can argue otherwise. At least be credible in your opinions before making out everyone is against you.
On another note, Cavanagh and Spillane were hard listen to yesterday so I turned over to Sky where we got actual analysis and not some great former players going at it over Covid, Puke football and black cards.
Be grand if the powers that be in RTE got their acts together and got rid of the pantomine.

Like the Galway setup you get things more or less wrong in every facet.

they got nothing right,

Wrong manager selection's over the yrs..
Years behind in strength and conditioning
Failure to integrate youth into senior set-up.
Lack of belief , and overall a small fan base with no real desire to follow their county through thick and thin. .

Had your warning in 2013 after a hammering in Connacht in Horans 1st stint in charge, and here we are nearly 8 yrs
later with the same paltry excuses and total denial of your true level in the modern era.

Its 2021 not 2001

When Tyrone people sing the song its cmon Tie rone. People from there say "Thrown" the name Tyrone for a man os pronounced Tie Rone but the county as you say in irish is Tír Eogain as in Tír Eoin.

I'm going from memory but I think the black card had been approved but was waiting to be implemented at the time of Cavanagh's pull down. The black card was just to make the game more flowing and remove cynical challenges, it had nothing to do with goal scoring chances. It wouldn't be an effective punishment anyway for what Cavanagh did, where it was a last minute goal scoring opportunity prevented. He has to be subbed off, that wouldn't stop him doing it again at all. I like the sin bin and it's an improvement on the sub off rule but I'm not sure it goes far enough either for denying goal scoring chances.

Cork in the same sentence as Dublin and Kerry? Cork haven't won a football all Ireland since 2010 and overall all Ireland tally is similar to Galway/ Meath etc. Definitely not a football powerhouse!

Traditionally Cork support Kerry's opponents! Nothing has changed! Cork are in the doldrums at the moment, so is less relevant. I welcomed Tyrone victory and will support Mayo in final. This is their chance and I think they will take it!

It wasn't in the last minute - was about mid-way through the second half but yeah black card was on its way in.

That's just lazy speak though, like in Carla or Wickla etc.

You wouldn't say "Throne" Mings or "Throne" Williams would you.

Not that there's anything wrong with it but the correct pronunciation is Ty as in By and Rone as in Cone.

The other reason black cards were brought in was to stop teams dragging down players when trying to start attacks.

Both black cards yesterday were cynical fouling.

The black card has worked on stopping cynical fouling.

The decision to introduce the black card was made by Congress months in advance of Cavanaghs foul against McManus in an all Ireland QF. Once again a myth that is perpetrated by the so called national media.

Unbelievable fight, heart and energy from Tyrone yesterday. Did their best to lose it with the keep ball tactics though, should have went for the jugular when they went 5 up in extra time, Kerry were shell shocked.

Plus all the big moments went in Tyrone's favour. Kerry f'd up the goal chance in first half, if that had been scored, different game. 2 of Tyrone's goals were fortunate too.

Saying that Tyrone won while getting destroyed on the kickouts, missed loads of handy point scoring opportunities and had Morgan kicking frees and 45's still, 7 years on with a success ratio below 20%. Kick them short and work a better opportunity.

Good to have loads to improve on going into All-Ireland final. Mayo always have Tyrone's number bar 2008 qualifier in Croker that Tyrone scraped through with a point to spare. Should be another close one, hopefully Tyrone come out the right side.

And will be great first couple of weeks back at school for kids with the big build up, great having it to look forward to.
