Very gracious in fairness to you and CiarraiMick. Ya Tyrone were better and were wasteful. Probably deserved to win by more. They can be better than that I feel if they get more out of McShane in final they also need to improve on their discipline a bit. 2nd black card was utterly stupid and glad ref pulled him for it. He could have cost his team. For Kerry, they still got more scores than Tyrone on the day. They could have won that game. Last year they failed to score a goal v Cork and played defenders in wing forward. Keane got slated. So they changed completely and they hit the ground running this year and have went for goals to kill teams. And it has worked. Today it didn't but the chances were created and only heroic defending time and time again kept them out. On any other day at least one of them would surely go in and Kerry would wun. It would be harsh on PK to fall on today performance. He did what was asked of him from last year. Maybe though, the bench could be used better. Kerry start their best team with only Killian Spillane to make any difference when he comes on. I wonder why they even carry fellas like Micheal Burns. Fine player but he is never really used enough. If he is not being used then what are you expecting him to do when thrown in a tough game like today? bennybunny (Cork) - Posts: 3917 - 28/08/2021 21:49:42 2375735 Link 1 |
I would imagine after todays meltdown RTE will be having a few thoughts about Spillanes future

Think Mayo will be favourites and rightly so. But I hope Tyrone win and I think they have every chance. Think today will stand to Kerry going forward. Too many of their best young players are used to winning easy. This will toughen them up mentally and physically.

Kerry wasted so much trying to walk the ball into the net at times, it was brain dead stuff. Paul Murphy was all at sea when Tyrone ran down the middle and Stephen O'Brien had a very poor game. And Tyrone made plenty of mistakes too. It was close and tight but the standard was lower than these two teams normally bring. Probably understandable given the lead in to the game. The Tyrone bench had much more impact than the Kerry one. HighKings (Meath) - Posts: 271 - 28/08/2021 21:55:47 2375745 Link 2 |
Donie Buckley was massive loss to the set up. kerry4sam21 (Kerry) - Posts: 103 - 28/08/2021 22:04:30 2375753 Link 1 |
Perhaps but they should be mortified imo.

Spillane should have been canned years ago, when they were getting rid of Brolly they should have let Spillane go too. He was a holy show today, Cavanagh is also a hopeless pundit. RTÉ panelist's generally aren't great

Was a poor enough display from both teams. They tried to cancel each other out and to a degree it worked. Think all this talk about tyrone hoodwinking kerry or the gaa is over the top. The game was postponed soely to make the gaa money, not to help tyrone. Kerry should have and I assume were prepared for a fully fit and functional tyrone team. If they showed up half fit then kerry should have walked it. If they showed up fully fit then should have had been prepared. Relying on 2 scorers will bring trouble no matter what. Thought tyrone should have pulled mccname as he was having a poor game on Clifford and seemed to be walking a tight rope at times. TYE08 (Tyrone) - Posts: 93 - 28/08/2021 22:34:58 2375772 Link 2 |
Not at all. We were not expected to beat Kerry and we didn't. I like many others predicted on here that it could get ugly. And it did. Cork, like your own side, are in transition. Like Galway, we have had some underage success in last few years. Like Galway and others like Down, Meath, Derry , the challenge is to bring these players into Senior level and go from average Division 2 sides to competing for AIs. We are all well off the pace so who wins AI semi finals is of no concern. Nothing to be mortified about it. bennybunny (Cork) - Posts: 3917 - 28/08/2021 22:35:28 2375773 Link 1 |

Agree re AOS, not sure about Morgan, yes he has his dodgy moments but is it really wise to throw a novice keeper into an all Ireland final, I see where you're coming from though Galway9801 (Galway) - Posts: 1942 - 28/08/2021 22:50:18 2375787 Link 0 |
Correct on Cavanagh, sickens me when he talks so properly for TV and to say they weren't two black cards was silly. As for Pat, well Pats Pat .

Wasn't he saying it should only be a black card if it prevents a goal scoring opportunity? Just pulling made-up rules out of his backside!

Actually, I don't mind Spillane. Is he a good pundit? No. Is he entertaining? Yes. Can the other pundits wind him up? Like a bloody clock. Is it time for him to go? Probably. I think he annoys (and maybe even embarrasses) Kerry watchers more than those from any other county. foreveryoung (USA) - Posts: 2116 - 29/08/2021 02:56:28 2375852 Link 0 |
I think it was a case of just saying the opposite of what Pat said even if he knew he was wrong. Cringing stuff from RTÉ. Must go down as one of the best displays from a Tyrone team. Up until 2002 when Micky took over Tyrone would never have won that match, but Micky brought belief into Co Tyrone.
