It's a bit silly that Galway, Cork, and the two winners from Rd 1 aren't just all put in the one bowl to draw the Rd 2 fixtures. Just because you receive a bye doesn't mean you should be separated, more GAA daftness. AfricanGael (UK) - Posts: 1947 - 12/07/2021 14:16:12 2359015 Link 0 |
Don't understand the system tbh, looking forward to Clare v wexford, good game I'd say, gonna go with easy wins for limerick and kilkenny this weekend,

Why would they arrange matches what is the benefit to them?

The GAA is full of influence and power. You can come up with any kind of theory from this mornings draw. The simple matter of fact is that it was not transparent and people don't trust GAA going draws correctly.

Revenue maybe? Big 3 bias? Cork have received 2 byes now without even winning a game.

If I was GAA president I certainly wouldn't be conducting draws at 8.30am.

And why are the Munster and Leinster counties separated in the draw anyway? Nothing to prevent Clare or Waterford being drawn against Cork. And Galway drawn v Wexford or Laois

They have constantly used morning Ireland to do the draws - not saying its right but its not just something they decided to do on Sunday.

Both Clare and Wexford won their first game also. Something not right.

I agree it isn't fair that Clare and Wexford should have to play 2 more games than Cork or Galway in order to get to the same stage but, I don't see why it would be fixed. Clare and Wexford have 2 of the biggest followings in all of Ireland. Wexford, Clare All Ireland would be off the charts. I think Davy paranoia has filtered down to the supporters.

I understood you said earlier that if Clare win that they can't play Waterford in Rd 2 , assuming Waterford win, so if they can't it's not an open draw for Rd 2 then ?

I am not going to get too smut. Laois deserve respect and when we play sh-t anyone can beat us. I hope the Waterford players don't get ahead of themselves and Liam Cahill keeps them in check. Canuck (Waterford) - Posts: 2642 - 12/07/2021 19:26:59 2359136 Link 0 |
They are separated if they cant face each other in Round 2, which seems to be the case. It's far from an open draw if we know already that Cork and Galway cannot meet in Round 2. AfricanGael (UK) - Posts: 1947 - 12/07/2021 19:45:32 2359142 Link 0 |
It's an open draw but teams cant play teams they already faced unless its unavoidable. Same as for many years.

Ah no paranoid people think people are out to get them. I've known people were out to get me long before I ever heard of Davy Fitzgerald;)

Most of this Laois team played in the win over Dublin and didnt get beat out the gate by Tipp in the AIQF in 2019 either.

This might not be right place for this discussion..I've been watching under 20 hurling from munster..rules are different again here, there is no sin bin for deliberate pull down inside 21 and no penalty..I thought the same rules applied at all levels of inter county hurling..how do Gaa come up with this?some of the refs are involved in all grades and rules change within a week..I'm first to give out about them but they deserve a certain amount of sympathy I think..would others agree or am I well off the beaten track?
