Replying To Bon:  "How on earth do you figure she was the clear and obvious choice?"
Having been praised for all the other shows and interviews she done it was widely accepted that she would be the best choice when Lister stepped down

Sadly you are blinded by your little agenda. She was and is still well regarded by the general public and its only the likes of yourself desperate to not see that

Does the fairly decent analysis done on free GAA podcasts /YouTube channels these days cloud our views on, sometimes, poor analysis on the Sunday Game, paid for in part by the licence fee? There also seems to be more humour / less PC chat on podcast discussions. I know the podcasts have more time to prepare for shows, a definite advantage over the Sunday Game. Similar with other sports, when it's not being shown on television, there's a bit more banter and a relaxed atmosphere compared to television which looks like it has guidelines on what they can say and cannot say.

Yeah . I use my smart phone to view games on gaago but never again. The buffering never stops and you have to stop and restart for the whole game. They mostly use one camera and the players look like ants. Their prices increased from €5 to €8 and the quality is terrible. I realise if you have broadband etc you will get a better service but many of us have to depend on our small screens for streaming.

GAAGO is not bad for most games if you are watching on laptop or PC. Suspect it might develop problems as people logging in increases? Lost the end of one game a while back.

Fair play to some of counties who are streaming. Wicklow CLG covered the recent under 20 game with Dublin and shared it with Dublin.

Excellent coverage and good commentary from two lads who not only knew the Wicklow teams inside out, but had obviously done homework on Dubs too.

I have to say that GaaGo was the best €25 I spent this year. I'm lucky that it seems to stream pretty well in the house hear. I know there's some small things they could improve on, but I'm just grateful that I can watch Hurling Matches that aren't on TV.

Here in the UK I paid €49 for 12 months, which will take me into May 2022. The quality of the streaming is very good.

I have been using GAAGO in Canada for a few years and have been very happy with it. It always works great when I am watching from home. A few times when I was away on holidays, I had trouble streaming the games but since that has never been an issue at home, I put the problems down to poor internet service at the places I was staying.

That's not bad when you think that €50 doesn't really go far these days.

Terrible punditry again over the weekend on RTE… Pat Spillane saying the ref made a great call on the Donegal penalty while over on bbc the 3 guys all agreed it was nothing like a penalty which it wasn't… On the Sunday game Spillane again complemented the ref on giving Dublin a soft penalty but never even referred to the blatant one he denied Meath minutes earlier…. Embarrassing stuff

Joe Brolly missed for saying it as it is.
Sky are years ahead in game analysis.

RTE's coverage of Gaelic Football is an insult to Gaelic Football. The same grumpy people with the same monotone grumps from one week/year/decade to the next. It is does not include anything bordering on analysis, insight, jokes, fun, or entertainment.

After perhaps the best weekend of Football matches this year I decided I'd give the Sunday Game highlights a go for the first time in a while, and it was incredible to see just how miserable the panel was even on the best weekend of Football this year.

I strongly advise anyone who out of habit hasn't yet done so, to watch the football on the BBC or Sky instead.

Well worth watching the coverage on either Sky or BBC.

BBC: Tyrone v Donegal, Marty Clarke mentioned during commentary that playing Mc Kenna deeper allows him to see the game in front, use his athleticism from deep, and that's where he played for Essendon which he remembers from Down Under. Insight.

Sky: Brian Carney introduces Peter Canavan as 6 time all star, winner of 5 Ulster titles and 2 All Ireland titles and Kieran Donaghy as member of the Armagh backroom staff. To which Kieran said thanks for that introduction. Jokes...(and later of course they mentioned that Kieran has 4 All Irelands).

Sky: Jim Mc Guinness at half time in Tyrone v Cavan mentions that Tyrone are making space at the edge of the D, then kicking quick quality ball in and that in the later stages of the first half it looks like Cavan are tiring. Analysis.

Watched end of bbc coverage on Saturday of our semi final as had seen it on sky earlier. The commentary was first class really capturing the excitement of occasion. Its a shame don't have bbc player here as I'd watch it back. RTE just don't cover ulster football at all well.

RTE's coverage of GAA is woeful, from the terrible presenting of pundits being involved in games with their own counties to turgid commentary , it isn't very appealing. The pundits that are alongside the commentators at games don't really know much about either of the teams and haven't done their homework on them. I get it is a part time gig but I would imagine that it is an extremely well paid one. Time to up their game a bit. Poach some commentators off local radio and send some out to pasture. It would help a good bit.
Also during the Donegal Tyrone game and the Munster hurling final they were showing replays and the ball was in play in an attacking sense while all this was going on, surely that is a basic requirement of a director of sports tv broadcasting to immediately switch back to the play and leave the replay be for a while

terrible commentary, co-commentary and analysis on RTE, especially where Ulster foitball is concerned. they frequently get the teams mixed up (saying Donegal instead of Tyrone or visa versa. joanne cantwell said Donegal were down to 13. I am sure they also said Macmenemin was black-carded. their views on decisions their knowledge of the players is poor.
on the Sunday game later the highlights of the Armagh v Tyrone game were atrocious . the editing was terrible. you could not get a sense of the game at all.

I agree entirely tyroneed. The coverage on both Sky and The BBC is far superior to RTE's coverage. Both Sky and The BBC analyse the games and the players. They discuss the games and provide insight. There is enthusiasm about the games. Sadly RTÉ comes nowhere near that. Their coverage of the football is relentlessly negative and stands in very stark contrast to their coverage of the hurling.
