So, let me see I have said we cannot keep locking down the country as a way of living with the virus. I believe everyone needs to wear masks and we need to repurpose our healthcare systems and perhaps build covid specific treatment centers as a way of preventing this virus from causing even more damage. We need to ensure that people working in high risk areas are regularly tested and supported if they are out of work if they have the virus. We need to change our labor laws such that support is given to people who are directly affected by positive cases not everyone in the country. If a viable vaccine is produced, then it should be free and anyone who does not take it will not get financial support if they get the virus. That's just a few but end the lockdowns. There is no one answer but the question needs to be addressed and it not being at the moment. So tell me since you are on here criticizing everyone who says that we have to change the way we are doing this, tell me how the country continues to pay for all the payments and how people who need to get medical care other then covid are going to get it, or is your solution to hide indoors forever. Your logic is that because some jobs will be lost as a result of covid and how we have responded to it - lockdowns, that we should stay in lockdowns as its not worth coming out of them. Brilliant idea. zinny (Wexford) - Posts: 953 - 25/10/2020 16:18:40 I never said or implied that indefinite lockdowns are the solution. You have to continue the payments because you cant just have people go back to normal as that spreads covid far more and puts far more pressure on the healthcare system. Very good win seeing how they were missing some players. Ulster is always a dogfight. It'll be tough again this year.

Because there's no back door, I can see high scoring matches. Let the forwards do the talking and get it into them. Hopefully. Saynothing (Tyrone) - Posts: 2288 - 27/10/2020 12:46:23 2301964 Link 1 |

Tyrone very quiet on Hampsey. I'd say Mickey is looking to play him on Sunday. ryan (Donegal) - Posts: 748 - 27/10/2020 13:48:05 2301998 Link 0 |
Would think the removal of the back door might lead to a more cagey game, among the top teams especially (Don v Tyr). It will be interesting to see how some heavy underdogs approach games tho. Keeping the score "respectable" to keep a bit of morale for the qualifiers isn't going to be an option. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5244 - 27/10/2020 14:06:43 2302014 Link 7 |
Did I read somewhere that the gaa are testing all players before championship.. be a lot of anxious managers about awaiting results. Sean cavanagh writing in paper today saying there seems to be difference in protocols north and south and that it could favour teams from the north. Don't really know the ins and outs of it, I'm just hoping that all teams stay COVID free and that we have a good c ship.

That's a wee bit cheeky lad, you seem to be implying there's something underhand going on

Yea at least sends the right message, unfortunately too late for this year but hopefully won't be forgotten next year!

Very sad, but I was chatting with some of my ilk over the last couple of days, most a lot older than myself. General concensus was that they'd rather die than 'live' like this. lilypad (Kildare) - Posts: 1363 - 27/10/2020 17:03:01 2302152 Link 2 |
It's fine for anyone to say that, but our hospitals cannot cope with an influx of long-stay admissions for people who would rather take the risk. Altnagelvin has no free ICU beds as of this morning. SurelyToGod (Donegal) - Posts: 452 - 27/10/2020 18:53:02 2302210 Link 2 |
Bad news reports emerging out of the Tyrone camp with a player allegedly testing positive. Hopefully this doesn't have a huge impact on the rest of the squad. TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 4512 - 27/10/2020 19:55:41 2302242 Link 2 |
I think that news came out last Saturday Mc kenna saying today it was a squad member but the rest of the squad are ok and haven't to self isolate.

Good stuff, all the best to the lad in question and good to know it won't impact the wider squad to much.

It is a really precarious situation for all counties - 1 bad case spread amongst the squad and that could be their team's season over. It is just so difficult for each county to stay completely clear of it. Was reading on RTE:- https://www.rte.ie/news/coronavirus/2020/1027/1174213-eu-covid-vaccine/ Looks like we could be living with this bloody thing next season also unfortunately... What strange circles you move in. Would imagine hospitalisation and a spell in ICU will quickly change that view.

I hope none of the Tyrone players have it, I would rather we both had full squads to pick from and the best team on the day wins, could be a wee bit of fake news spinning going on too though, they were saying this in the media before the Mayo game too. A good news story which hasn't made the headlines for some reason but which surely augers well for the years ahead. While we have had all these Covid deaths in UK and Ireland we seem to have eradicated Flu and Pneumonia deaths in 2020 so if they can get this vaccine sorted for Covid then we are going to have a lot more people alive each year going forward. Similar statistical comparisons should be released here also. Definitely won't be getting any flu jab this year. ;o) Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 4199 - 28/10/2020 10:44:08 2302374 Link 2 |
