I have said that I believe Kerry should be able to do what they want internally. However, the whole point of these intermediate and junior championships is to give teams of different abilities to compete at provincial and all ireland level. In this regard the Tyrone system is much fairer as it has 16 teams at senior intermediate and junior. In kerry only 8 out of over 50 clubs are senior. In my opinion the 9th best club in Kerry arent an intermediate club if you compare to other counties. I believe there is a fourth championship in Kerry called junior a. As I said it would be a much fairer split if the kerry junior champions entered the intermediate championship and the junior a champions the junior championship. A Another, I see where you are coming from but you can't equate number of senior club teams with who should represent whom in Munster or All Ireland championship. My club was in Division 1 before but couldn't get out of junior. League is usually played without county players and players gone to America for the summer so can't be used as an accurate barometer for where a team is at. Gaeltacht are intermediate for the last few years and the same as Templenoe, they are on the crest of a wave due to a talented crop of young players that have all come through at the same time. They still have to earn their place in Senior football in Kerry the same as everyone else. Plenty of Tyrone teams have beaten Kerry teams in Junior and Intermediate All Ireland so I don't understand why some think there is an unfair advantage to Kerry teams that their league position and then getting higher quality games on merit is somehow wrong or unethical. macruiskeen (UK) - Posts: 37 - 17/01/2018 10:57:32 2068821 Link 0 |

Junior A is basically for teams that were knocked out of Junior early or weren't considered due to previous years results. It is just another way of giving teams games rather than actually calling it our definitive junior competition. Agree with you that it will be a close game Sunday. Two very good club teams and can't wait to watch in on TV. Tyrone and Kerry clubs always hard to separate at junior and intermediate.

People are putting way too much stock into league position 37thHeaven (Kerry) - Posts: 102 - 19/01/2018 13:08:12 2069270 Link 2 |
Some counties have a link between league position and championship position. CastleBravo (Meath) - Posts: 1678 - 19/01/2018 17:58:48 2069337 Link 2 |
Well done to the Moy on their win today. It will be great to see Sean Cavanagh in particular get a day out in Croke Park with his club. Looking at the game it was clear they were 2 teams of an even standard and the points raised on this thread were shown up to be largely nonsense. The conditions in Thurles were difficult but even still the performance put on by both sides was fairly depressing. Let's hope there are not many more games like that to suffer this year. Sean Cavanagh should have been given a black card today. The Ventry outfit must feel very hard done by with the ref. I think he must have left the black card at home The_Bull (Cork) - Posts: 248 - 27/01/2018 19:01:25 2071136 Link 1 |
The lower the standard, the more likely it is that teams will take the defensive option. I see this more and more every year at club level, 15 men behind the ball, the attacking team hand-passing around the 45 metre line ad nauseam. The rules support this, don't know how it can be changed. befair (Down) - Posts: 238 - 27/01/2018 19:20:07 2071140 Link 0 |
You'll be classed anti Ulster with comments like that.... How Moy finished with 15 i dont know. It's always funny to see the usual comments from some in Ulster. Turning a blid eye to it. In fact Philip Jordan was claiming he didn't see why any Moy player should have been sent off!! Overall Gaelteacht were probably better but should have seen it out in the end why (Kildare) - Posts: 142 - 27/01/2018 19:39:47 2071143 Link 0 |
If I was you I would be far more concerned at your county's capitulation, again, to Dublin.

Surely you have to commit a sending off offence to be sent off. The Moy didn't commit any such offences. There were 2 during the game by the same player. He was lucky the first time, caught the second. An Gaelteacht looked the better team in the second half but didn't go for the kill and paid the price.

I'm no great fan of the Moy but some of the laying down and feigning injury by the Gaeltacht players in the last 10 mins was ridiculous and they paid the price in the end. Wally (Tyrone) - Posts: 926 - 27/01/2018 22:29:35 2071204 Link 0 |
Well done to Moy today, and best of luck to them now in the final. KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 14092 - 27/01/2018 22:58:31 2071208 Link 0 |

Certainly wasn't pleasant on the eye but The Moy would give a hoot. Croke Park beckons which will be a highlight of most of the players lives. The_Fridge (Tyrone) - Posts: 2093 - 27/01/2018 23:16:35 2071213 Link 0 |

The difference in coverage this semi final this semi final this got compared to the other semi final was striking on the news last night on rte you had highlights and a interview clip of sean cavanagh talking. While the couldn't be bothered giving the score of the other semi final or even mention the losing team. ros1 (Roscommon) - Posts: 1211 - 28/01/2018 11:39:08 2071292 Link 0 |
