You're right, it's unfair & unbalanced. However, most people know the O'Sheas & Cavanaghs. That's the only reason it received such coverage.

Absolutely.

The could have at least given the score. But it is always the case that teams from certain counties get coverage and the majority of the rest don't.

Seán Cavanagh obviously no longer has the pace, but he still has something what few or none of the current Tyrone team has and that is a winning mentality. You either have that in you or you don't and no amount of training or tactics will compensate for the lack of a will to win. A huge loss indeed. essmac (Tyrone) - Posts: 1141 - 28/01/2018 12:56:27 2071309 Link 0 |
Have read a lot of comments on this game how the Moy came down with their 'Puke Northern Football' hit the poor Kerry men hard and they didn't like it. What I watched wasn't pretty but Moy didn't go to Thurles thinking lads this game is on TV lets put on a show for all the Kerry aristocrats (as they like to be known). An Ghaeltacht were always going to have to work hard and show the hunger and desire to beat the Tyrone team, they came up short. Moy went to the last minute and didn't give up!! That's true, although Kilanerin did have Mattie Forde, who'd be very recognisable also. Glavey's look like a serious outfit based on having seen them beat Claregalway. It's a huge day for both clubs to get a run out in Croker. I hope both teams do themselves justice on the day. WanPintWin (Galway) - Posts: 2327 - 29/01/2018 22:47:48 2072216 Link 0 |
No poor teams make it all the way to an All Ireland Final. I've no doubt Glaveys will give the Moy their full of it, the bookies are making Moy favourites probably based on the Cavanagh brothers. They will have experienced big Croke Park days and maybe won't let the occasion get in the way. Hoping for a good game and being from Tyrone a Moy victory. TG4 were always going to show a Gaeltacht team in an All-Ireland Semi-Final. Added to that they were playing a Moy team containing arguably the best all round footballer of his generation in his swan song, as well as the whole Kerry/Tyrone 00s feel to the game it's hardly surprising it garnered so much media attention on the run up to it. That doesn't stop them giving some coverage to tthe other semi final. Surely the point of the intermediate championship is a showcase for lads who have never played in croke park or don't have a pile of medals too there names.

I believe this was the 1st time an intermediate club game was shown by any broadcaster. I suppose for the reasons outlined above it was a perfect storm and worthy on paper of TV attention without living upto that on viewing. If I was the Roscommon side I'd be happy enough, they get a video of the Moy side to set up their team. They can pinpoint strengths and weaknesses maybe work on their shots from distance. Moy will probably know nothing about their opponents. Tyrone Gaa (None) - Posts: 403 - 30/01/2018 12:33:47 2072351 Link 0 |
Moy will definitely have videos of the Roscommon team. It's a given nowadays.

I don't disagree with that at all but I don't ever remember the Intermediate Semi-Finals getting much attention at all.
